Galatasaray (rokforce) 2 -1 (Alshie) Stuttgart

Stuttgart (alshie) 2 -0 (rokforce) Galatasaray

Pretty tight games, a bit of a clash of styles Rokforce preferring Arsenal-style passing moves, myself a bit more Bolton-esque directness.

Stuttgart took the lead in game 1 due to a defensive error but Gala had most of the play. Gala equalised through a flowing move and I was lucky they did because I had a shocking late tackle on the scorer! Sorry about that.

Rokforce slotted in the winner late on and if I'm honest thoroughly deserved the win. I was a bit annoyed not to hold out for the draw but that would have been harsh on rokforce who totally dominated.

Game 2 saw Gala again command the play but they were unable to score, I think they rattled the posts about three times. Gomes scored early for Stuttgart and again late on from a corner.

Cheer for the games. Glad to get off the mark!

Manager Stevens Back To Winning Ways

Benfica manage the double over French side Toulouse

(Petey) Benfica 2 - 1 Toulouse (Skajess)

After Benfica's double defeat last week to rokforce, things had to change.

A kick up the backside from manager Stevens, especially after their cup exit to Yawdib in midweek.

They came out on fire today, playing some lovely football and soon they had a corner.

It was whipped in high but only half cleared, where the shot from the midfielder was stopped by his own man, a swivel and striker placed the ball into the net. 1-0

Toulouse looked like they could create something after the goal. They made many good chances but couldn't capitalise.

The second goal looked inevitable as pressure on the Toulouse goal mounted and the breakthrough was made when Suazo picked up the ball on the halfway line and ran down the wing, around the defenders, into the box, lined up a shot and smashed it into the far corner with the keeper rooted.

A Toulouse fightback did look more and more likely after the restart, with Benfica now sitting back, and they got what they deserved.

Into the final 10 minutes a lovely move down the right and a pass inside created tons of space for the stiker, who picked his spot and rolled the ball past the keeper.

(Skajess) Toulouse 0 - 3 Benfica (Petey)

Toulouse came straight out of the blocks in this game, piling on the pressure, too many chances to count but unfortunately none could be converted into the lead.

The pressure continued to mount, with Benfica surviving by a tether.

On 40 minutes a counter was on for Benfica after a Toulouse attack, a run down the right wing and a shot from the edge of the 6 yard box forced the keeper to make a pointblank save, throwing the ball into the air. It returned to the pitch only for Suazo to be waiting to pounce and head it into the empty net.

Straight from the restart Toulouse went on the attack, but a misplaced pass left Benfica with another counter attack, passes through the middle gave Suazo a bit of room to run, he did so and squared the ball for Pablo Aimar to pick up the ball and slot it past the onrushing keeper. Toulouse were on top for the whole 1st half, but to counters and they were 2-0 down and demoralised.

After halftime the game got very scrappy, neither side could link a decent move together.

Benfica then put away the third through another Aimar shot and a Suazo rebound after it had come off the post.

The last 10 minutes again were Toulouse' best, pounding the Benfica goal and almost scoring!

Well played Skajess, you were unfortunate not to finish more of your chances.

Thought I was going to through it away in the first when you got a goal back, unlucky.

Good luck with the rest of your season

Zigic steals the show with 3 goals in 2 games

(Webbinho) Racing de Santander 2 - 2 Benfica (Petey)

A tight game that saw 3 of the 4 goals scored in the first 8 minutes making the score 2-1 to Benfica. Then a relatively tight rest of half. Halftime saw a slight change in formation for Benfica.

Second half was also tight, handful of chances for both sides ending with only Zigic being able to finish one from a cross, he gave the defenders and keeper no chance. And thats how it finished.

(Petey) Benfica 1 - 3 Racing de Santander (Webbinho)

An early Zigic header put Santander in the lead. Benfica hit back instantly with a lovely passing move that ended with Aimar placing the ball into the corner. 1-1

Then Zigic (Again) hit Benfica again with another header out of the reach of everyone.

An overhead kick put Santander 3-1 up and gave Benfica no chance and sent 3 points to Spain.

Well played mate, was very tight in the midfield and at times out defenses were very solid but Zigic (the cunt :() done you well.

Good luck with the rest of your season, will probably meet again next season :D

Confirmed. I thought both games were closer than your report suggests. I felt pretty fortunate to win the first one, a draw would have made more sense I think. I suppose you always feel that way when you get a late winner. In the second game I did get annoyed that I kept hitting the woodwork but I think the problem was my holding on the button for too long rather than bad luck. You did enough to win even if the shot count was in my favour.

You're right about my passing style. It works quite well in the opposition's half but has got me into a lot of trouble before with my defence. I thought the pace of your front two was electric. I was always worried when they had the ball facing my goal.

Cheers for the games and good luck in the rest of the season.

EDIT: I didn't even notice your foul I was so excited by scoring but on the subject of bad tackles, I seem to remember a pretty suspect one by my keeper in the first game that I got away with. He barely flicked the ball. Sorry about that one.

Pretty fair report there, especially regarding Zigic :P

Both games were pretty tight and the scores didn't really reflect that, as there was a mad 10 minutes in both games where the goals just flew in.

The Munitis/Zigic partnership is starting to gel though, just need to work on the defence now, my keeper saving me on a number of occasions.

Cheers for the games and I'm sure we will play again soon.

It was one of those sliding to try and block the shot but ko'd the man type things.... But your keeper, I have no idea how I forgot about that scandalous decision, Cacau was clean through, knocks ball past keeper and was ruthlessly taken out by a Toni Schumacher-esque keeper :) Of course the ref didn't appear to be looking in that direction at the time! Come to think of it I don't think I've ever seen a foul given against the keeper in this game?

Palermo (gingerling) 0 - 2 (Fry) Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund (Fry) 1 - 1 (gingerling) Palermo

Not many clear chances in these games. Battles in the midfield, hoping for breaks but encountering stoic defending at almost every turn, Dortmund found the breakthrough with 15 minutes to go when Frei was released and slotted past the keeper. This seemed to break the Italian spirit and a few minutes later, Blaszczykowski did likewise.

In the second game, a muddle in the box allowed Frei to score after only 3 minutes and it looked like being the only goal of the game before the Italians blasted a shot in the box into the top right hand corner. Infuriated, Frei and then Blaszczykowski had immediate clear chances to restore the advantage but the keeper was up to both challenges.

The results send Dortmund top of the table, but with many teams having games in hand they won't be there for long.

Alshie 1 - 0 Webbinho

Webbinho 3 - 2 Alshie

I still struggle with this team to get some passes going and seem to always resort to a long ball. Both games were pretty close, first game was settled by a goalmouth scramble. I think to be honest I was lucky to get the win here as I never really put two passes together.

Second game was even closer and very end to end. Webbinho winning by the odd goal in 5. Defensive frailties and poor finishing again cost me here. Zigic is a monster in the air and won every ball, the wingers were ripping my fullbacks apart - especially as I pushed up late on. Totally disagree with blocking the keepers kick out at your first goal, poor show. I expect opinion will be divided on that but it's cheap. I'm probably just bitter at my defeat though. :P

Can't complain overall, cheers for the games. Also 6 points from 6 games is the kind of form that saw me relegated last year :P

Yeah cheers for the games. They were very tight and I thought 3 points each was fair.

My opinion is that its cheap and to be honest I rarely if ever do that even against randoms, the keeper just kicked as I was stood there and it was blocked (admittedly I still had to shoot), I didn't go looking for it. I did send an apology at the final whistle.

Don't be nice! Leave me to suck on my lemons!

Seriously I'm just a bitter old bastard, I wasn't too bothered as it didn't make a difference to the outcome and I felt you played better over the two games. I need to get a new headset - the league is less fun without the chat, and I could just have moaned at the time.

And you did finish it with a cracking volley.

skajess (Toulouse) 2 - 2 (Fenerbahce) Slotter

Slotter (Fenerbahce) 2 -1 (Toulouse) skajess

Just played a couple of entertaining, if a bit scrappy/pinbally, games with skajess and got to try out my new headset. In the first game, the Turks were 1-0 down without touching the ball (!) and not long after were two to the good :P I pulled one back shortly before half time, with a follow up to a shot that rebound off the post, and it was pretty even on the stats front with skajess just edging the shots and possession (and the goals obv.). Second half was similar in tone and I managed to get another goal back in exactly the same fashion!

Second game was the more scrappy of the two, but had better highlights. Again skajess took the lead early on, this time after 8mins and I'd actually touched the ball a few times, only to see me equalize again to go into the break all square. A few chances on goal at either end meant the fans had some excitement but it was the Fenerbahce faithful who were happiest at the final whistle after a 81st minute winner meant they recorded their first win of the season.

CFTG skajess and it was nice talking with you. Good luck for the rest of the season :P

Slotter (Fenerbahce) 3 - 1 (Marseille) Yiggy

Yiggy (Marseille) 1 - 1 (Fenerbahce) Slotter

Fenerbahce's virtual tour of the South of France continued as they took on Marseille. The Turks played some of their best football of the season to take an early lead which was extended soon after by an unfortunate own goal after a goal mouth scramble. The lead was further extended shortly after the break but the away side quickly replied to make the last minute sof the game pretty exciting. Fenerbahce led the way in the stats with 54% of the possession, 11-6 on shots with 6-4 on target.

The second game, as the score suggests was tighter, with both sides having chances left, right and centre. Fenerbahce again took the lead first but it didn't last long. The home team peppered the away goal but the defence held out to make it an away point. Stats wise Marseille led the way this time with 7-4, 5-4 on the shots/on target but the possession was pretty even.

CFTG Yiggy, enjoyable games and some good football played despite the patches of lag.

As far as I was concerned, the two best games of the season so far in terms of entertainment! End to end stuff :) Got to dive off to work now, but I will say that Gingerling was very unlucky not to win the second game as my keeper had the game of his life...

Shots: Slotter 6 - 16 Gingerling

On Target: Slotter 4 - 10 Gingerling

Webbinho 2 - 3 rokforce

After all the talk of Zigic it was a suprise to both of us when Baros gave me an early lead with his head. Zigic soon levelled the scores with one of his specials. It was a really close match overall but particularly in the first half. We had opposite styles of play: my pacy attack through the middle left space wide, and Webbinho was always trying to work the crossing angle leaving space in the middle. I got two goals early in the second half which was a shock really as it had been so even. Can't really remember who scored or what happened. From then on Webbinho dominated with me finding some space on the break. For some reason the Santander wingers seemed more interested in finding Zigic miniature strike partner with their crosses instead of the big man. Not sure Webbinho was too pleased with this. He managed to pull one back with this change of style but my centre halfs dominated the battle in the air and held out.

rokforce 2 - 0 Webbinho

This was a weird game because beforehand we were puzzled by Webbinho's poor away form last season. We couldn't figure out how it could make a difference when he doesn't move between games. It happened again here anyway. The first half of this match in particular was much more one-sided than the other game and that's when both the goals went in. A brace for Baros. Things were closer in the second half but it was more of a slog than an end-to-end affair.

Cheers for the games mate, and the comms. Good luck in the rest of the season.

Is this guy good in real life - he's awesome in the game?

Looks like a couple of good games between you guys - would have liked to have seen the clash of styles - I found Rokforce to be all about the pretty triangle passes trying to force it through the middle, Webhinho just as good but constantly finding space on the wings and winning the ariel battles.

Yeah good games, I can't complain too much, the 2nd game I didn't compete. The Turkish backline were too quick and strong and Zigic couldn't get himself into any space. I didn't feel like I was going to score.

The first game I thought I could have grabbed a point. Lots more chances and Zigic cracked the bar before scoring.

I really couldn't defend against Baros, with the tricky turns and short passes round my box creating a load of clear cut chances.

Cheers for the games

I know Zigic didn't get too much action at Valencia, but I suppose when you have David Villa, you don't really need someone like Zigic. Now he's at Racing, I think he gets more action.

You were definitely good enough for a point in the first game. You got into plenty of good positions when it was 3-2 but it wouldn't just drop right. As you rightly say you had plenty of other chances before then too. The draw would have been a fair result. It was cracking match.

I think a major difference in the second was that I never pushed my full backs forward because I knew any space I left behind would be punished. I almost played with a back 6 with the two DMs sitting deep. Getting the two girls relatively early kind of helped too.

rokforce 1 v 4 paddyo

paddyo 0 v 5 rokforce

First game last nite was very close, scoreline flattered me a lot as for most of the game i only had 1 goal lead then scored 2 in injury time.

2nd game was funny as i had important phone call just after kick off so let me son play first half, told him to keep it tight at the back and returned to find myself 5 nil down!! Oh well, hansen was right, you dont win anything with kids ^_^

Thanks for the games mate, well played, you are a very tough opponent to break down and very dangerous in attack too

I've heard some excuses before but, 'I got my son to play', honestly! :(

I did wonder what was going on. He wasn't that bad, 3 of those goals were rebounds off the keeper that fell directly to my strikers. Don't take this as an affront to your play but I didn't really notice the difference, I just thought I was getting unbelievable luck. If you want to replay the second game I'm happy to mate, but I'm not sure if we're allowed to or if results have to stand. I mean I'm not sure if there has to be serious grounds for a replay to be played or if the other player can just offer one.

The first game was good. I couldn't make any headway with my passing style, you seemed to predict my every move, and I kept making bad choices. That 90th minute was something special. Kewell racing away and had such a simple pass to play in Baros but decided to delay it until he was 5 yards offside, grr! Then you went up the other end and somehow managed not just one but two more. I'm not bemoaning the result though, you were the better player. Shame about the lag which was just enough to be irritating but not enough to ruin the game.

Thanks for the games and the compliments. I would say the same about yourself, nightmare to defend against and when I went forward it was like trying to play through a giant sponge

My son is pretty good, we play co-op all the time... I suppose i cant blame him too much LOL

The lag was pretty bad both games but we still got em played ok...

I think its going to be a tough division this one, plenty of good players in it!!

Fair enough. Thanks. You're right this is gonna be a really tough league. Practically every game I've played so far has been really close.

Yeah, the lag didn't affect the results or play. I guess so many people getting Ultimate Team has overloaded the servers.

Really pleased to get 6 points out of these two games. First match went well, and I should have really scored more, I had plenty of one on ones against the Sunderland keeper, but I wasted a lot of chances.

The 2nd match was a lot tighter, with the possession flying back and forth between us. Paddyo was very unlucky not to get at least a point from the game, he hit the post twice and my keeper was on fire.

Cheers for the games mate.

Has anyone heard from Syntax?
