Limmy's Show

Shocking Channel 4 or the Beeb won't give him any money for a proper series.

They make plenty of other shit.

It’s a joint commission by BBC Two and BBC Scotland apparently, for three episodes this time. Hopefully more to come after that too.

A few of the sketches in Limmy’s Homemade Show absolutely creased me. Can’t wait for this.

Well that's good, at least.

I just find it weird that he seems to struggle to get anything made (Falconhoof, for example) when so much other stuff by lesser comics gets made.

20,000 followers and 2,100 subs, it's happening :omg:

He hit 70,000 followers a few nights ago and is up to 2100 viewers daily. His streams are really, really good, and he plans to do it full time after the new series. No more live stuff, anyway.

I’ve watched a few of those Limmy Twitch clips, they are good!

Can anyone explain to me how he makes money doing those? I don’t understand Twitch.

I get the feeling, watching his streams and following him on Twitter, that he's the kind of guy who doesn't really care all that much about exposure. I also wonder if his personality (his Twitter is...interesting if you don't 'get' him) might make him less appealing for a company like the BBC to promote in a big way.

I genuinely use his trucking playthroughs to help me sleep these days. Just shove on a four-hour archive and slowly drift off.

you can subscribe to people on Twitch, it's like a Patreon. Anyone with a Prime account has a free sub. His subs aren't visible now, but he had 2,100 in November, so probably has a few more now.

People pay him to watch him play games.

Okay, so I have Prime - if I ‘subscribe’ to his Twitch, he gets some money?

When people pay to watch him playing games, they send donations?

Btw, I was sat in the loo reading this thread last night, and I ended up watching what seemed to be Limmy broadcasting live some sort of house decorating game.

I don’t know if I’m more amazed that the game exists, or that Limmy was live broadcasting ‘playing’ it, or that I was sat in the loo watching it live. None of it seems to make any sense.

Yep - I think he gets £2.50 for each Prime sub.

Also yep - people donate. He reads donation messages and does shout outs and stuff.

I sub and have donated - his banter creases me up, and he's given me endless hours of it. Top tip: sub when he's online and you'll get a little 'thank you, Zok' thrill.

Those 3-2-1 streams are amazing. I’m not sure if I have four and a half hours to watch the next one, but I’ll give it a go in chunks.

Limmy’s one of the most talented comedy writers and performers out there. Why he languishes on shoestring commissions while cringey talent-vacuums like Jimmy Carr and Michael McIntyre rake in millions is a total mystery.

Just saw the sketch where DeeDee goes to Yoker. Fucking brilliant.

Yeah, his 321 streams have been incredible. The Scottish episode in particular was fantastic. It's brilliant how he can somehow procrastinate over the tiniest things and send the stream all over the place with the topics. One minute playing a random game, the next finding a random song on YouTube and finally making life seem to make sense. I've found some of his streams helping my brain to just chill out.

It's as though everything he does is perfectly scripted but entirely off the cuff. The only thing thats challenging is that he does swear a lot and my 7 year old finds him very funny after I showed him a couple of his clips like the nursery rhymes. My bad! So I have to be very careful when picking something new for him to see.
