Rllmuk Arcade Stick Thread

Is anyone interested in making universal arcade sticks, for use on (pretty much) any console?

I ask because I've found a guy in Germany who will send a fully assembled UPCB to the UK for 48.59 euros. About £42. Whack it in a stick, and you could use it on almost every system going just by wiring up the appropriate controller cable. (Dreamcast and Xbox360 require a pad PCB wiring in as well, though).

I just thought I'd see if anyone else was interested in case the guy can offer a volume discount or anything. Loads of info about the UPCB here.

That's pretty cool shame you have to piggy back a DC controller and a 360 controller for those systems.

Me.

If it's as easy(ish) as you make it sound.

I would hesitate to say it will be "easy" - the actual assembly of the UPCB is about 95% of the complexity taken care of though. The remaining 5% involves attaching wires to connectors, and the other ends of the wires to the buttons/stick.

I'll get back to the guy and see what he thinks about making a few up.

Well my wiring is done and it works fine:

I'll take proper photos once the artwork is finished.

I'll definitely be swapping the JLF out for an LS32 though - the JLF just isn't stiff enough for shmups. If anyone wants to trade or offer me say, £20 for the JLF and harness delivered (or pick up in London) then shoot me a PM.

Yes he did, actually - not about making a bulk order, but he seems like a good guy to do business with.

I've decided not to go down that route any more, though - I don't really need a universal stick, not for what it would cost me and how much use I'd get out of it. I just ordered a cheap lag-free converter instead. I can post his contact details, though, for anyone else who's interested.

Alright folks, we have had a bit of a resurgence in 2D fighters over the last few weeks. New stuff like like Blazblue, People getting back into SSF2THDR, new blood in the SF4 thread and some cool stuff on the horizon like KoFXII and MvC2 for live/psn.

Some really cool new(ish) sticks about or on there way so here is a heads up.

First up is the much love Hori RAP EX-SE, which is getting a re-release in October and can be pre ordered on Amazon.com for $139. Its a 360 RAP EX with full Semitsu buttons anf stick, yummy!

The second row is the 2 new Madcatz T.E Sticks, The all white one is available now on play asia, its a non game branded and has had a few layout tweaks from the original SF4 T.E

The white/orange colourway was made for the finalists of the recent Comicon SF4 tournament, expect to see them on Ebay for silly money soon.

The 3rd row is for all you Blazblue heads out there. 360 owners just get a re-branded Hori EX2, A real entry level stick. PS3 owners get a branded R.A.P BUT like the Deathsmiles one next to it beware, all Game Specific Branded Hori R.A.P sticks have a Sanwa stick but only Hori buttons, that ARE NOT quick disconnects and can be a BITCH to swap out. If you want QDs you need a non branded RAP.

Finally the bottom stick is the new Tekken 6 stick, Made by Hori. No news of its quality yet, maybe EX2 maybe up there with RAP but its their first ever wireless stick! Could be good.

Its up on most sites to order for £149 complete with a copy of Tekken 6.

They're selling the big tournament sticks here for around $260 and the smaller arcade jobbies for $122. They're fucking everywhere now and I'm just wondering if they're worth it at that price and which one is better.

I've never really played with a joystick before, but my thumb's getting mashed trying to play SFIV, and I've got BlazBlue and KoFXII on the way so I'm wondering if I should get a pad or a stick.

Get a stick. Tounament Sticks are spot on out the box, The smaller S.E sticks are a lovely size but really do need a button/stick transplant.

Get one!

Is it well made? When the guy said 950 dirhams I have to admit I did sort of go "...oh."

Loads of guys on here have a T.E stick and swear buy it. All high grade components. It was worked out that over 10% of all T.E sticks sold at launch went to RLLMUK members!

So long as your not an epic cluts it will last you years!

...I still live with family members who are the "oh I didn't know we had to be careful" types.

Gonna need something to store it in then.

Out of curiousity, does anyone else want one? It's difficult from here, I know, but there was literally a mountain of them in just one shop. Reliable shipping would cost a lot too (not a chance am I using registered mail, they already lost one letter from me).

2 more absolute beauties for you here, I love this oldschool look so much. Timeless. Here we have a Madcatz T.E Modded up to look like an old school Sega Astro City control panel, the other is a Hori R.A.P with a similar oldschool look. I love the Hori in the Sega font. Beautiful.
