Well I've finally received confirmation that my TE has been dispatched! ;) (I doubt anyone cares but i'm pretty damn pleased)

I've only been playing on my EX2 for about a week as well lol

Now I just need to get better at SFIV... I've won one match online so far... I even lost to what sounded like a 12 year old girl on her first game ;)

Has anyone noticed their TE sticks "sticking" in one direction? As in, the character keeps moving left even when the stick's gone back to the neutral position? Happened to me twice tonight within 10 minutes but it seems to have vanished. *touch wood*

Were you playing online? Could be lag. Sometime, the lag isn't just the horrible slideshow effect, but a much subtler split second delay between input and action. You'll notice it after you get hit when you thought you were blocking, etc.

Nah, this was a case of having to unplug the controller and re-connect it to clear it type thing.

Hm, very strange, that's certainly the first I've heard of something like that. Hope it's not a recurring problem for you.

Me too, man. I was playing with Uzi at the time and he said he'd heard of it once or twice from other people and it happened rarely, if at all. I'll keep an eye on it, obviously.

Haven't experienced it with mine mate.

Could be lag like someone said. I just pick the similar skill option in search and try to find a good connection person if possible.

Check the switch above the lock switch on the guide / autofire panel and make sure you have it set to dpad. I had this problem the other week and thought I was fucked, the switch was set to LS..

One thing that has annoyed me, is if I have a 360 pad on when I start the game up and then disconnect it and put the stick in, it sometimes registers as a 2player pad!

Sometimes I have to restart my 360 with the stick in.

Yeah that shit sucks, you are best off signing out, turning the pad off with the guide, then signing in with the stick. It is hassle, but it works.

So I thought I'd call Madcatz today about this pseudo-freezing stick fault that I experienced last night. Just as easy as making a phone call, right?

Aye it would be. If they actually answered.

I'd done a bit of digging around last night and it seems to be a slightly-more-common-than-rare fault with the PCB. A few people, by request, have had a new PCB sent to them from Madcatz, they've replaced them themselves and the fault's disappeared. Sounds fair enough.

Here's a question though: 12 months down the line, when the TE stick is no longer available to buy, and say your PCB goes on the fritz. What then? The Madcatz warranty lasts for 90 days!! Can you buy new PCBs from third party suppliers?

It can't be 90 days- that's the US warranty- it doesn't meet the EU legal minimum for new products does it?

You could wire in a stripped out wired 360 pad as PCB a worst case measure.

Just spoke to the guy at Madcatz who carries out repairs.

Yeah, the warranty is 12 months over here. The manual's not written very well in that sense.

So, he's heard of the fault I'm describing... from 2 other people who were unwilling to send their sticks in. He can't replicate it in the workshop but he's asked me to send mine in and he'll replace it so that he has a 'faulty' one to play with and find out what the root cause is. They'll cover the courier costs. Fair play says I.

He was a very helpful guy and took time to answer loads of questions for me. For instance, right now they don't have a clue about supplying bespoke items like the PCB. Let me clarify that. They've got more than enough PCBs to supply repairs for the coming warranty periods. It's just that they were Saitek 4 months ago and they're still getting to grips with Madcatz. So in short, if your PCB goes within your 12 month warranty period, you'll get a replacement no bother. Once they figure out how to sell PCBs ex-stock, you just need to call this guy.

So there you have it. I wasn't cracking up. The fault exists, only it's rare (contradicts what I said earlier but I'm just quoting the repair guy). Fret not though, if you get the problem, they'll sort it out for you one way or another. The guy said he suspects the firmware but needs to see one for himself and tinker with it.

Good to know that they will be able to replace PCBs.

The PCBs were always going to be the most suspect part of the TE. I'm sure it's same one that's in the SE stick as well. I've had no problems with the TE yet, but I put put all Sanwa parts into an SE and had a similar problem with that afterwards. Not exactly the same, though, because if I taped the stick quickly or held it for a couple of seconds or more it was fine. But if I held it for just around a second and then let go it would keep the direction inputted for another few seconds. I gave the PCB a clean (making sure there was nothing on the lines) it and it's been fine since.
