Rllmuk Arcade Stick Thread

Hnnngh. I want a nice stick and settled on the HRAP as I'd had some mixed reports from here about the TEs and imagined that HORI being a fairly recognised name in the field would provide a real quality item. Is there really that much difference between them? What would people recommend here?

Does that mean my generic HRAP from Amazon should be quick disconnect?

As far as I know, yes.

Is it the black EX? Im sure that one is QD.

Sanwa JLF stick as standard with Hori buttons. But not the cheap and nasty EX2 ones, Nice Hori buttons which by all accounts feel a lot more like Sanwas.

I have the very same one on order as you.

Im also awaiting delivery of a Madcatz fightstick after Gledra picked a couple up and told me they were nice. If it turns out to be gash, after fucking up Geldras shit, I will swap stick and buttons out.

The HRAP EX does have quick disconnects. The Hori buttons to me feel mega spongy, so get them off quick. :P

I got the Sanwa buttons off one of my VSHG's and put them on it, makes it 10 times better for SFIv etc, although for shooters which i play mostly it's kind of moot. I have Seimitsu skeletons and an LS32 coming for the other one, so see which i prefer and do them both the same.

I'd love a HRAP2 for my PS2. They look lovely. If I ever see one at a reasonable price I'm going to be all over it.

I don't like the HRAP EX's for the 360 though after having considered one earlier in the year. The button placement itself is worse than the TE (where the first top and bottom buttons are AB and XY mirroring the 360 pad making stuff like Castle Crashers a pleasantry to play on the TE whereas on my EX2- same button placement as the HRAP EX- it was awful).

The maine grip is the headset placement. If you use a wired headset it's going to be directly going onto the front of the case- probably getting in the way when really going to down on the stick. Ugh. Don't know why they did that, seems like such a stupid decision.

Nick, I need you to promise me, In front of everyone here that if you sell it you must sell it to me.

Its beautiful.

Love the stealth colourway. Looks like something the army keep tucked away in a cupboard somewhere for when Cloverfield attacks.

They come with clips to route the headset cable around the base of the stick, so it doesn't get in the way.

And James it's all yours should i sell (but i doubt i will, sorry :P ).

If they needed to include that they knew it was stupid- the EX2 had it right, weird that they did that.

Anyway since HRAP2's were never released here, I guess they're going to be very difficult to find. I wouldn't mind any decent psone/ps2 stick actually, a budget Hori one would do- something to the quality of the EX2. Anyone have any reccomendations?

edit- Just noticed your blacked out HRAP, very very nice

One of my biggest clearout regrets is getting rid of my PS2 RAP. I'd come out of a long period where I played shmups almost exclusively, and I really thought I was done with it. I do have a TE but the RAP remains the best stick I ever used.

Still, I put down a preorder with Amazon for the 360 one, so that eases the pain a little :P

I've modded a DC arcade stick for the PS2 Uzi, mainly to play all the Jpn shooters, works really well.

Re the HRAP, i guess the headset port is there as they used the same mould from previous RAP's, and on the PS2 versions that's where the turbo/autofire buttons were.

Ah that makes sense.

If you ever come across a spare DC stick you don't mind modding to make it work, let me know :P

Theres actually an adaptor out there to make my TE work with the PS3, but I could I could use another adaptor on top of that and get it working on the PS2 :(

Gingerling in Trading wants to swap a EX2 (I think - if he wants a RAP its a bit ambitious is it not?) for his DC stick. Maybe a goer if you still have yours?

As far as i'm aware all adapters produce lag, but i'm sure someone can put me right. There are some good PS3 ones, supposedly.

Using two though sounds a bit suspect to be honest.

Yeah near impossible it would work, hence the smiley.

It would need a PCB mod and switch at the least to get it working

Ah got rid of it when I got my TE- but cheers for the heads up

Just a quick question. If I take the triggers out on a wired 360 pad, but do not install a button for them, do I need to put a 10K resistor across the two points on the PCB, or is that only if you are replacing the trigger with a button?
