Rllmuk Arcade Stick Thread

Will it be easy to get a sticker of something I'd actually want to see on a HRAP EX?

I agree son, your other choice is to but the plain black one off of ebay. Lots of U.S Sellers have them, but after postage they are MAD expensive.

Maybe the MvC2 Tournament stick is the way to go?

Custom it is.

The only bit I was really concerned that I couldn't do was make the box itself but someone over at shoryuken put these up on eBay.

Now I just need to pick a template and order the right colour Seimitsu stick and buttons (I'm primarily a shmup player).

Shame they've all gone. I'm still going to make my own case, but that would have been great to house it until then. I've already got my stick/buttons/octo-gate/cable. Soldering iron kit arrived the other day, and a control pad has been ordered (though the Amazon shop seems to be taking an age to dispatch). If anyone knows of other UK sellers doing housings that cheap then please share details.

Wow that's cheap although they took the easy route of not having an angled top! And 8 buttons why 8! Maddness, anyway should have an update on my prototype soon although progress is so slow mainly due to familly commitments.

At least you can do neo geo setup properly with 8 ;)

I've always found 6 buttons a perfect fit for most SNK stuff as most arcade knockout the last two buttons on the lower row so I'm totally used to having three fingers on the top row and a thumb on the first button of the bottom row. The real reason some stick makers go for 8 buttons is to satisfy both US and Japanese layouts. I personally prefer the Japanese layout as it's what I'm most used to, the straight 2 rows of 3 buttons the US machines use arn't very ergonomic.

Along with the MvsC2 TE stick there is also going to be a set of Fightpads:

Marvel vs Capcom 2 Fight Pad (Wolverine vs Ryu)

Marvel vs Capcom 2 Fight Pad (Hulk vs Zangief)

Marvel vs Capcom 2 Fight Pad (Spider-Man vs Strider)

Marvel vs Capcom 2 Fight Pad (Iron Man vs Megaman)

Do we know if MvsC2 is exclusive to 360? I'd love to get one of these pads for my PS3.. (Hulk vs. Zangief!)

Got myself an EX2 through today... had a quick blast on SFIV before it goes away for my birthday and it's really nice. Only thing i'd say is there's little room below the stick to rest your hand but i'll get used to it.

Still have a TE on pre-order from powerplaydirect... hopefully one day they'll have a restock and i'll finally get one!

Hey! Are these the right connectors for Sanwa buttons?

And which wire at Maplins should I use?

I hope so as I've bought a load of them for my mod!

I heard somewhere (probably SRK) that network cable is the best wire to use just strip the outer sheaf and use the wires inside.

That's certainly what I'm going to try.

Cheers for the replies. I ended up buying bigger crimps just in case. I figured if the connectors on the buttons are smaller then they should fit, but if the crimps are too small I'm screwed.

Box is looking good BTW, mines wonky as hell, I made it in pine but my old man's got some oak flooring spare he said I could use. Maybe I'll treat this one as a first draft. Stick and buttons should be here soon hopefully

Plane FTW I got rid of most of my wonkeyness with lots of planing! Almost too much though as for the angled top I have the case is now only just big enough to house the stick!

I finally went through the massive 'I love my custom stick' thread at Shoryuken and bookmarked everything I liked. In some cases I just like the artwork, or just the buttons, but they're all a starting point for ideas so I can finally pick what colour to order stuff in.

What elements do you/don't you like out of these?

Anyone had to return a Madcatz Fightstick for repair? Mine has a couple of dodgy buttons - which weren't too bad to start with but are steadily getting less and less responsive... <_<

Any idea on the speed of turnaround?

Well I asked them about fixing mine a month ago as it arrived with that stick issue where it kept sticking. They still haven't arranged a collection after repeatedly ringing them up. It's been a complete joke, and I don't really want to spend more money on my first stick until I've got used to it.

Not surprised you're having this problem - the buttons on mine are shocking. They really are a piece of shit product, I'd be fuming but I'm swapping all the bits out anyway, so it's just really a case to me.

Is the gate in the TE stick a Sanwa GT-8F? I was thinking of getting a GT-8Y (octagonal gate) for experimentation purposes, but I think my current gate might be worn down since it's been a bit unresponsive of late.

Is it likely to just be the buttons being crap then? Obviously I don't want to swap out the buttons, invalidate my warranty and find it's a dodgy connection elsewhere or a fault with the board...

Plus if I send it back I assume they'll do the check on the stick to see if it's having that washer issue....
