Did anyone see the pilot of this yet? It was on after Flight of the Concords on HBO last night. It stars Danny McBride, and is basically the same humor as Foot First Way (which is worth checking out if you haven't seen it), except instead of running a Dojo, he's a washed up baseball player who takes a job as a PE teacher in a High School.

Going on the pilot, this has a lot of potential. There were some genuinely funny scenes mainly steaming from what a asshole McBridge's character is.

Like when he's ordering a Hooker while his sister in law's cleaning up the house, when he's strutting through the school imagining all the kids worshiping him and the whole jet ski montage.

Don't really recognise anyone else in it, although I think the Principal was the announced in Semi-Pro (god that film sucked). This however is definitely worth checking out.

I watched the pilot last summer when it leaked. I thought it was appalling. The lead character is the most unlikeable, unwatchable creation I've ever set my eyes upon. He literally has no redeeming features whatsoever. He's not an unlikeable character with a good heart like say, Hank Moody on Californication. He's just a complete fucking asshole through & through. I wanted him to die. Horribly. And I never thought I'd say this but there's way too much swearing in it. Way too much. And I swear like a motherfucker. The only bit I laughed at was the jet-skiing at the end. But that's just me.

Nice to see Sol from Deadwood getting work, though.

That's the point. It's real basic shit, but it's done well, see the dinner/titanic scene. I've only watched the pilot so far.

And I don't think Hank is an unlikeable character.

Pretty much the only show where I've been watching it as soon as possible, rather than when is best. Even 24 gets put on the backburner these days.

Brilliant comedy, just takes aspects of what is normally in American comedy and takes it up so many notches. The swearing is amazing at times. If it wasn't HBO it'd be shite.

Also just got a Tweet from Kenny Powers :(

A dude at work pointed me in the direction of this, saying it was a Will Ferrell TV series. So it threw me when he wasn't in it (well, not in the first episode). I was a bit underwhelmed after the first episode, but ended up liking it more in hindsight. It's a definite keeper. Tits, swears and lols. Good times.

The first season was only six episodes! Boooooooo! 2010 is a long time to wait.

I'm really suprised how much I've enjoyed this, after five episodes. I'm not a fan of Will Ferrel so wasn't going to bother even trying it. It's crass and childish but somehow it works. It's good to see a loser who isn't really loveable. Maybe I find it funny because I know people like Kenny who think they are fantastic at everything and filled with undeserved self-belief.

I loved Foot Fist Way so when I heard about this I was keen to see it. It is ace. It's not the most sophisticated comedy but it's so well made. Danny McBride does that sort of 'douchbag' really well, although he's close to being typecast. Need to get hold of the remaining episodes now.

Watched up to Ep3 last night. The dance moves in Ep2 made lol hard.

He is such a dick though

End of season spoilers -

Whats brutal is you think he is on the right path to getting everything sorted and he is being nicer to the people around him. Then boom he pulls the biggest dickhead move of the season leaving the girl at the petrol station right at the end.

Glad this got a second season but the first few episodes are going to be tough to watch with how it finished season 1.

Can't agree with that.

In ditching her, he finally took responsibility and showed that he's not a complete cunt. It was a difficult decision for him to make, and it finished off the season on a high. Leaving her behind demonstrated his personal growth.

Wut?

Wouldn't taking responsibility have been telling everyone the deal was off? Instead of leading her on and then ditching her without a clue...

Well, yeah, that's what any normal person would've done. But this is Kenny Powers, man. He doesn't think, and he was still in shock at finding out about the deal himself.

The man came good in the end.

Watched the whole season today.

It was none stop amazing, I loved the soundtrack, the characters, the tits, the "Fuck the kids" and the fact that if you removed the credits between each episode it would actually just play out like a long film.
