Has anybody seen any concrete news about when the extra maps will be available as DLC? I think they need to be released asap. Also, have Rebellion released any official messages telling us what is happening about the ranked match issue and, importantly, when it will be fixed? Any communication from them would be good right now.

I posted yesterday about 360 ranked matches, right now can still only speculate what the issue is but I promise I'll stay forthcoming with news.

Focusing mainly on the PC side since it's frankly more under our control to make changes. I tried to explain earlier in the thread how patching is entirely different on console, and is ultimately a decision for SEGA, so forums.sega.com is what I'd recommend you do to get official answers.

The praise it's been given on here makes me hopeful that it's a classic. I'm actually borrowing it from a friend this weekend, so i'll make my own mind up, but I was just surprised it's been given lower-than-hoped-for scores for many reviewers.

I'm not sure telling someone to chill out works when you do it in such an angry way. Besides, you did ask an idiotic question - in a thread mostly filled with "Had amazing games last night, but shame about the terrible matchmaking" you thought that somehow linkster's magnetic sex appeal was making us all pretend to like the game.

Hopefully you'll get on with it - it's a damn good game.

This is very strange...I finally had the time to stop and shop at my local Saturn megastore to day for a copy...only to find none left! DOZENS of copies of Ass Creed II, Bioshock(ing) 2 and ODST...but no AvP.

Friend of mine had a question - he's in a situation where he has a certain amount of XP, and his friend has about 50XP more, and yet the friend is five ranks ahead of him. Is there some kind of special bonus for countering, or special kills, that isn't necessarily reflected in the amount of XP?

Something that bugs () me about the alien... a charged tail attack takes a few seconds to pull off, in which time you're usually minced. BUT, if you're stuck to a wall, you can spam the tail attack like nobody's business. I'm always being killed by it - players have clearly caught on. Surely it's not an insta-death move?

In the SP campaign i'm doing the same because it will trip enemies up, leaving them wide open to the canned animation kill.

It's really satisfying to hang on the wall of a pillar just below a predator and stab that fucker, though. Especially when he's discing like nobody's business.

Aye, the reason they mostly fail me is because as I wind up, the enemy will teleport 10 metres away. Actually, i've had bettter ping in recent games, but there's till some massive FUUUUUUU moments when it comes to melee combat.

Had some success with Ranked Match last night - though for ages it was finding almost enough players for a game and then restarting the search process. But after a while I started getting into games very fast. The autobalancing was still screwed a lot of the time, but it was nice to earn exp and unlock some more skins! Fortunately players on Ranked do seem to have some brains, generally sticking together in team games which made for some decent fun even with silent randoms. The lag seems much worse compared to Player matches that we play together though.

Has anyone figured out the scoring system for Infestation yet? Last night I survived as a marine until the end, killed a few Aliens but still ended up 3rd from bottom on points. Seems a bit wrong as surely you should be rewarded more for staying alive than getting kills as an Alien?

As a marine, can you counter heavy attacks with melee?

Borderlands DLC had been distracting me from playing AvP these past few days.

I'll be honest though, the honeymoon period for the game seems like it's over to me and unless Sega surprise us with some DLC or multiplayer tweaks soon, I'm not sure I'll be hanging onto the game for much longer. Too many up coming releases will be fighting for my attention.

Yeah I'm going to trade it in against Mass Effect 2. For the first week or so I didn't have much chance to play multiplayer and when I did it was to be greeted with the matchmaking issues. Tbh now I can't be arsed with the hassle, which is unusual for me as I never trade games in.

Certainly my experience is if you want a game 'anytime' you need to choose either a recent title or a behemoth (and if the latter, be prepared to be treat worse than an immigrant, disabled leper with aids).

Also - isn't everyone playing BF:BC2 now anyway - so fickle people are??

I just rage-quitted a mp game actually, the bad sport that I am... I hate being the alien, it keeps giving me alien!!
