Old School Rave and Jungle

Recommended Posts

Going through my old tapes (hundreds) and shazaming a few I love but don't know the name of. Was listening to the track posted further up by Quadrophonia and another by them, Schizophrenia. Found a clip of the Quadrant Park with it playing, used to go cuckoo to it in there myself.

*WARNING FLASHING STROBE*

Posted before, many a year ago now. Still gives me shivers remembering being stood in a warehouse with several thousand people, being a slightly taller than average 6.3" I was just, just coming up on a Dove when this played and I was looking out across the throng. One of my most memorable feelings to this day. Stumbled upon it again tonight whilst I was feeling a little irrelevant. Feeling a little more plussed now.

Great find.  In a similar feeling I was thinking a few days ago how lucky we were to have these experiences.

Two big Amen smashers from 95/96.

Claim to fame.. in 96 I bought my first place, turned out to be next-door to 2 guys called Kev and Karl.. Lemon D and Dillinja. Luckily I was into D&B so didn't mind the thundering coming through from their studios :)

As someone prone to hyperbole I completely understand!

All of those tracks were great. I'd heard the Tek 9 before as I think it was on a Reinforced compilation. Talking of Reinforced and therefore 4Hero I got a copy of this recently for a pittance. Lightyears ahead of its time.

I had the 12" single of that. Excellence indeed. Had it on a CD compilation too, but they faded it out before the halfway mark!

Just took delivery of a Drum & Bass CD bundle over the weekend, including some big names like Goldie & Roni Size / Reprazent, but also some stuff I'm not familiar with. Looking forward to digging in now I've ripped them all.

This is a good listen. A really cleverly made mixtape mash-up situation I think came out on tape a few years ago from a Filipino-Canadian crew of producers. There's a few of them and they're sort of a celebration of soundsystem culture I guess. This one chucks itself into the world of ragga jungle which is often my favourite end of that spectrum, so it's alright by me.

There's a good interview with them here too.
