Razed In White
Okay, this is phenomenal. It's a lot less annoying than I thought it would be too... I lost a ton of progress last night getting smashed by the Tower Knight, but just shrugged it off, ready to go back in tonight. Everything about it is just so dripping in atmosphere. This thread's really helped in getting started (as well as some very handy tips from Mafro), so I think I'm doing relatively well for a newcomer. Not really got very far yet, just beaten 1-1, killed the dragon in 1-2 (with a very cheap tactic :x) and got to the Tower Knight before being destroyed. I fought that Miralda and eventually beat her with some deft dodging too... I had the same thing as Balbarian, she just disappeared for a while. She hadn't died by falling off the ledge or anything, I went and explored around, then eventually she was back. Odd. Gonna give that Tower Knight another go now. Love it. Kelthink
God, that Black Phantom Satsuki is a tough old bean, isn't he? After finally grabbing the Pure Bladestone (2 hours of farming or so), I decided to duel the fucker, but he'd kill me in two stabs! I found the best way was a pretty slow way with a sharp curved rapier and a light-ish shield. Stabbed the bastard in the back basically. Razed In White
Tower Knight has fallen, but not before an absolutely ridiculous death where I took my eye off the ball when fighting the 2nd blue knight of that level. I had no idea they could heal, they'd never done it before, so when he suddenly healed I was all 'whuh!' and got hit with a killing blow (which surprised me since I had almost full 'soul form' health). The Tower Knight was actually easier than the bit just before it, with the archers and the knights and the constant dead horses tripping me up. The Sarge
Sequel Teased?? Japanese mag Dengeki has possibly teased in its latest podcast that Demon’s Souls 2 is on the way.And it’ll be out this fall in Japan. The title wasn’t exactly mentioned, but the podcast did say it was a game that released last year, and had some “interesting gameplay systems”. The internet’s added two and two and come up with 451. And here we are. The ridiculously hard RPG was released a year ago this month in Japan, with SCEJ doing publishing duties in the country. America got it near the end of last year with Persona developer Atlus releasing the title in the US. So far, no-one’s picked it up for a European release, but we’re remaining hopeful for something. http://www.vg247.com/2010/02/10/demon-soul...pan/#more-79323

St Hubbins
They'll probably print it, not on a blue ray disk, but on a circular saw blade.
Uzi
Holy shit, if an English Asian version comes out this year too, THEN this is the best year for game evvverr.
imp
They'll probably print it, not on a blue ray disk, but on a circular saw blade. I think they're even going to make it difficult to tell if it's the sequel or not by not actually branding it Demon's Souls 2, but by sorting out the apostrophe and calling it "Demons' Souls". mechamonkey
I've been playing this over the weekend (US Edition) with a mage as my first character. I think the restart back to the beginning of each act is a tad cruel but the sense of accomplishment is made all that more sweet. Anyway, finally managed to get my body back last night after finishing the first boss off. What a game. Is there any way I can train in shields so my mage can use the lovely Purple Flame shield I stole from under a dragons nose? Everyone needs to play this game. If you press 'Square' on the item screen it'll tell you what stats you need to use each weapon. IIRC the Purple Flame shield needs a strength of 22. You can level up by spending your souls with the black maiden back in the Hub. (Of course, it 'tells' you using squiggly icons for strength, dex etc which bear no relation to the stat itself, so prepare for some anger and confusion there! )

I spent quite a few points in a stat to wield a better sword, only to realise I'd been referring to a similar looking symbol and spent the points on the wrong stat - argh! Now Mass Effect 2 is out the way, it's time to re-enter the House of Pain!

df0
Finished it once now B) False King was not that difficult, I had more problems with Old King . Am a lvl 77 Knight specialised in melee and Demonbrandt did more damage to him than expected. Choose to walk away from Maiden in Black and she thanked me , gave me a Soul too. I just tore through 1-1 in NG+ Time to ask wiki for tips on how to get certain achievements.
Curtis
I've been disregarding this game for far too long! I will blame the absolutely sublime Mass Effect 2, the surprising alright Dante's Inferno, and the intially disappointing but kind of familiar now, Bioshock 2. Rumours of a sequel to Demons, stirred the ol' loins, but i tend not to get excited until something is actually announced. If it turns out to be true, i'll be jumping around the room and stabbing the pre-order button like a mad-man! In the meantime. Anyone who needs any help, or maybe some company (on either version), gimme a shout. For those that've just progressed to NG+, and are finding it more harrowing than they expected, i can certainly help with the situation. And of course, being the generous soul that i am, i will help towards any trophies you're missing (in one way or another).
Kelthink
Does anyone have an idea of things they'd like for the sequel? Me: -more stuff for mages, although less emphasis on health rejuvenation in some fashion -more types of weapon! But nothing too elaborate like Nunchuks or whatever -more NPCs (who you shouldn't have to deal with, obviously) and I'd actually like the world to be one giant place rather than levels you access from a hub. I know it might make things more convoluted but it'd be interesting to see how the world could be portrayed.
Curtis
I really don't know. The game is so perfect, i'm struggling to think of things they could add, other than different Archstones/Worlds. That said, each of the five worlds in Demons, are so perfectly realised, they'd have to come up with something spectacular AND original to compensate. The more i think of it, the more i'd rather they didn't.
imp
- Curtis to be an NPC in the nexus. - Maybe no accidental stabbing of NPCs, so I don't have to get paranoid and switch to my bow whenever I'm walking around! - PVP tournaments with prizes and stuff. - Better support for summoning friends. Even if they don't bother with voice chat, just being able to summon without worry of someone else getting them first or whatever.
Uzi
I think there is a simple way to solve not attacking npcs in the nexus anyway- is that the game shouldnt let you attack them unless you lock onto them first thus making your intention clear- IT MAKES SENSE,DO IT, TOUCH INSIDE ME AND STUFF

Curtis
- Curtis to be an NPC in the nexus. I'm flattered! But i'd rather have a BP variant, comprised of the lightning fast attack speed of Satsuki, plus the hardcore defence of BP/Orange Garl. Or, just meet me in 4-1 for a 'realistic' encounter. Choo
Tell the story so all may point and laugh and be weary! k, i'll keep it brief... I got invaded at the start of 4-2 (i think?), ran straight at the attacker in the tunnel just before the reaper and had a frantic roll battle. I don't know whether it was his strategy or not but he rolled next to the NPC which meant some of my swipes would hit the dude. At one point i caught him in a combo i was certain would finish him....so i did. Got a measly amount of souls and an angry NPC in return. I still claim the moral victory though...he may have thought i would stop attacking if it meant i'd hit an NPC...BUT KILLED THEM BOTH IN THE FACE! NYAH! Oh man, I had a funny thought - if they made 'you' like the super guide mode in NSMB Wii! For a certain amount of souls you get to take Curtis to do a super skilled run through of the level, slaughtering everything in seconds. That would kinda ruin the experience though. DON'T DO IT CURTIS!

Curtis
The Asian server is running a '1 Year Anniversary - Black Valentine' event at the mo'. Atlus had an even split on the voting for WT, so the US servers are running PWWT til Tuesday, then PBWT til weeks end. Grab those tendancy events while ya can. Just steer clear of 5-2, unless you've got back-up. I can't believe the game has been out a year already! Kinda makes my 800+ hours playtime, seem more reasonable...or maybe not.
