Outrun Online Arcade

Can't you just phone them and ask?

I mean why do you have to wait.

Hoar yourselves.

Well it's not so straight forward. They do ask us if we've got any ideas - and they generally have plenty of their own. To put it simply terms, they ask for a proposal, then run it past their marketing gurus and weigh up what they're likely to make for a given title based on what they'll have to put in to make it.

Basically it's got to make money - it's business after all - and if it's not going to make any, then it generally won't happen. It's not quite as simple as sometimes there are other reasons you can't do a given game, it could be license reasons, previous legal agreements etc etc etc, but the bottom line is if it's not going to make any cash, then why would you do it?

I can safely say that Daytona would make Sega FUCKING TRAINLOADS OF MONEY. In no-brainer terms, this is Jack Tweed.

It’s a nice little update, and has kind of re-ignited my interest in the game; it’s much more fun if you’re competing against your friends’ scores than just racing for its own sake.

I know it's not up to S0L, but y'know that episode of Father Ted where Dougal hangs a big sign over the house begging for a matador outfit? Well I want Sumo to do something like that on their office next time the man from Sega visits. I think it'll work.

What does it update?

Tidies up the leaderboards, a few under the hood tweaks and I think they've tracked down the weird junction thing. That's what I've heard they've done, don't quote me on it though!

Daytona would be nice wouldn't it. Don't think it hasn't been suggested (lots!). I keep leaving my bike in front of the doors to see if that'll get them thinking Super Hang On too :P Space Harrier too - though the idea I had in my head about that seems to have been stolen by Sin and Punishment 2.

There's lots we'd love to work on - without going all PR 'toe the line' we actually are genuine Sega fans. Probably a good job really ;)

I couldn't find an answer to this, so...same question as Meerman please.

Bloody hell...way to bump a thread, man!

But yeah...even arcade racers should be compatible with ffb wheels, like they are in the halls!

Brummmm... POWAHHHHRRRRR!!!

Out of the literally several racing games I've tried, bar Forza 3 and possibly Sega Rally at a push they've all been shit with the wheel. Midnight Club: LA was a particularly crap experience. Can't recall exactly what Outrun was like but I'm sure I must've tried it. Can give it a go tomorrow but I'd assume the best way to play it would be with a pad if only because flicking up/down gears (or brake taps) to drift would just be a pain in the arse with the wheel, as would the amount of rapid opposite lock needed.

G25 with the ps3 version works very well.

although i've never seen the arcade, i would assume its just the same

infact the only game i tried which wasnt good was ridge7. as it seems to put full force on all the time, making it very difficult to even move the thing.

Not good news for anyone waiting on DLC. :(

SEGA has removed excellent racing game OutRun Online Arcade from the PlayStation Store, Eurogamer can reveal.

The Sumo Digital-developed game was removed at SEGA's request. "Due to the expiry of the contract with Ferrari, OutRun Online Arcade will remain offline on PSN and XBLA," a SEGA spokesperson told Eurogamer.

It's still up on Xbox Live Arcade, which conflicts with SEGA's statement. We're checking on that now.
