Outrun Online Arcade

The best version of Daytona is the emulated Arcade version at the moment.

Cant stand any of the Console versions, they lack something.

If S0L was even considering making Daytona, I advise him to ONLY look at remaking the Arcade version.

please dont look at any of the existing woeful console versions. GENKI really let me down with their DC version.

I'm guessing you didn't have a wheel.

I really love the DC version of Daytona. Still play it to this day in fact. I don't quite get why people moan so much about it. 40 opponents, solid 60hz, fun filled adrenaline rush of a game. If only the EU release had kept the online component it would have been perfect. Didn't have a wheel either, just practiced a bit, until it clicked...

Would love to see a Live version of that with full online racing options. It would probably be the best racing game ever!

Sad to see Outrun Online completely out of the top 10 purchased games on LIVE. A complete kick in the nuts when TMNT (whilst a great game) has been there for months... What the hell is keeping it there???

I appreciate that with so many games on XBLA it's difficult to market the product once the initial week of release finishes. Not sure where the advertising lies with TMNT if that's the case...

Interestingly enough I'm sat in the office with a colleague who overheard me speaking to my manager about Outrun Online and he had no idea that it was even available on XBLA! There's another sale at least...

The achievements on this are a bit brutal, aren't they? Shamingly it took me about 3 days of trying to get the Cardiogram achievement (get AAA in Heart Attack mode), and now I'm wondering if the Passing Breeze achievement (beat Time Attack in under 4:30 minutes) is even possible... (obviously it is, but checking the leaderboards I notice that only 178 people taking the route I'm using have managed it).

Quite the contrast to the last game I played (Lost), which handed out achievements like there was no tomorrow.

I found 4.30 out of reach at first (this being my first taste of Outrun 2), but as you get better you'll find the achievements drop away quite naturally. If you're not already, use Manual Transmission and use the shift to initiate powerslides around corners. My fastest time came from heading towards Goal D finishing with 4.24:xxx using the 'tuned' cars so try that one. Bear in mind if you crash you'll lose about 6 seconds, so don't do that! :lol:

Anyone else still playing Time Attack with this? Need more friends with good times...

Just flick down shift/up shift for a split second before you turn into a corner you want to slide around. It's better than using the brakes to slide generally as you lose less speed. If you look at the road signs, the yellow ones indicating a chicane just require you to shift drift and swing you car through. The white signs pretty much indicate a slide is needed. After that just master correcting your car quickly after exiting a slide. Jobs a good 'un. :)

Now the real Outrun will unfurl in front of you...

It'd be nice wouldn't it, but as far as I know there's nothing planned at the moment. I've passed on any requests I've seen to the Sega chaps and the team who did it, but nothing to report at the moment sadly.

Sadly I can't take Sega project requests, we have to wait till they ask us to work on one :D

I'm tied up with Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing anyway till next year - which still isn't a Kart game! It's over at GameCon this week so there may be some previews, failing that I'm down at Summer of Sonic next week demoing it and doing a Q + A.

OutRun update finally out then I see...!
