Outrun Online Arcade

Daytona USA would be brilliant indeed

Or its spiritual predecessor, Virtua Racing, although I fear it has aged too much for a good online multiplayer mode. Still awesome for quick single sessions though.

The day I hear 'ROOOOOOLLLLLIIINNNGGGG STAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRT!' coming from the 360 is the day I finally melt with excitement.

As for OutRun, this has probably been my most played Arcade title so far. I still don't have the achievement for playing fifty single player games, though. Does it only count OutRun Mode? I'm certain I'm way past fifty games if it included time trials.

Surely F355 Challenge is an absolute must.

YES YES YES

Come on SOL, how much interest is needed to force SEGA's arm?

Sega Rally and Daytona would be nice, but get your priorities right People.

Surely F355 Challenge is an absolute must.

The problem they've got is both Daytona and Ferrari need expensive licences they haven't got and that possible exclusivity deals with EA and System 3 might prevent them getting at all.

But OutRun has a Ferrari license as well....

I played Outrun 2006 x box version just to see how it was and we havent arf been hard done by.

I mean the sp version has a ton more routes and cars I had totally forgotten about, obviously it doesn't look as crisp, but it still is decent enough.

Not a huge Daytona fan, never given it much play, but you could use the bargaining thought of Daytona USA assuring a lot of patriotic sales over the pond, It'd probably out sell Outrun.

LOL, Sadly not - truth be told my real middle name is James, but SJL doesn't make for a proper Pseudonym now, so I had to swap it to something more suitable.

So it could, be SAL, SEL, SIL, SUL or SOL. Went for the latter.

It did the guys heads in for ages for what the O could be, they tried Oliver, Optimus etc, etc, but they settled on Obertron. I don't hate it so I went with that :)

Of course, many people take it being as Straight Outta Luck, but I've always been an optimist. To me the pint is always half full :o

So there you go,

Also F355 Challenge was one of the most cruel and joyless racing games I ever played.

:) F355 Challenge was amazing, an absolute beast to master but some of the most intense racing I've played, tailing the first place car round Monza knowing one mistake and it would all be over was proper seat of the pants stuff. And the 3 screen arcade version....

But I digress, please bring the original OutRun 2 tracks as an add on as I think they are so much better than the C2C tracks.

ROFL - that's me, S0L is Steve 'Obertron' Lycett :)

I'd love to make Daytona happen, but it's not up to me, we do tell Sega on a regular basis though

 Well that solves that one then. Really enjoyed the interview, please continue to pester Sega about Daytona and the likes for XBLA/PSN. You can blame ALL of us if they get bored of hearing it :(

Also F355 Challenge was one of the most cruel and joyless racing games I ever played.

It has aged though. I've played both the DC and the PS2 version a lot recently, and I do reckon its physics have been caught up by the likes of Forza 2 and GT5P. Still fun to play, but I doubt if it'll hold its own as a new game now.

And obviously, I'd love to see Daytona USA on XBLA and PSN: the best would be a compilation of 2001 and 2

The best version of Daytona is the emulated Arcade version at the moment.

Cant stand any of the Console versions, they lack something.

If S0L was even considering making Daytona, I advise him to ONLY look at remaking the Arcade version.

please dont look at any of the existing woeful console versions. GENKI really let me down with their DC version.

Much as I laughed at that on a first read, you know, you're renowned for blowing Sega's socks off with the Xbox and then further with the PS2 Outruns, so you know, a little tech demo or something might just convince them?

And GK, you are right, although the DC one with the wheel was decent.
