Man, I'm having an arse of a time getting a decent score on route A. I can manage top 200 on route B, but on A I'm down below 1,000th. I think the difference is that at the end of the 4th area there's a rival who goes right, as opposed to left, and it's a complete bastard to pass him before he goes the other way, as well as the fact that I can neeeever seem to overtake the very last rival on the final bit of route A.

I assume that every rival is passable no matter which route you take at the end, or are there some that you can only get if you go left, or right, or something?

I'm down to about 4.37 on some routes in outrun mode, so when I can be bothered with time trial I hope I can get the 4.30 thing quick enough. You can used tuned cars to get it, right?

I would advise normal cars, manual TM for the R,L,R,R (Goal D) route, if you want to sub 4:30

It's probably mainly because more people have concentrated on getting a decent score for route A. It's the only friends list board that you can actually see in order, for one thing.

Some of the rivals can only be overtaken if you follow them down the appropriate junction. I'm not sure if they spawn at given time intervals, or whether you can catch them a little earlier with a better run.

I think both of the last two things you said there.

Well you definitely want tuned cars, obviously.

Thats the worst advise ever!

Ok yeah you can get better times with tuned, but if your new to the game, then it's obvious you can get sub 4:30 on that route, very easy with normal cars.

If you pick tuned and your new to the game you will crash, think about it!

If you're new to the game you're not going to be expecting to get the 4:30 achievement in your first run either. Also, these tuned cars have, you know, brakes and even gears and stuff. If you use one you can build up a nice big cushion on the previous 4 stages so you can take it nice 'n' easy on Milky Way.

Erm, ok. Tuned cars aren't really any harder than normal, just quicker.

Win 5 in a Row doesn't keep the running total - you have to win all 5 in the same lobby. I've just won 12-15, but they were separated by connection drops. Looks like I'm done at 95%.

Strange, I got that after 5 races, the first in someone else's lobby, after which the connection dropped, so I made my own and won 4 and it unlocked.

I haven't really put it to the test, but I thought it seemed a little bit more difficult to keep the car on the road during a drift with tuned cars. Like the car could easily be kept in the middle on normal, but with tuned you get more manoeuvrability while in a drift (at the expense of stability).

I could be imagining it though; I've not gone back to normal since using tuned, one day I just thought "this seems to be a bit tricker to corner than it used to be". Maybe I was just shit that day, which is probably more likely to be fair.

Pretty sure I did it over two sessions, did it drop as race was being started perhaps? I didn't have any connection drops, I just left the lobby myself and joined another.

Surely that's just because you're going round the corner faster?

Yep, same here. I set one up after a couple of wins after accidentally getting sucked into a 15 stage race. Set up lobby with Outrun mode, Normal cars and collisions off. I find picking Normal gives you a better chance of 5 wins in a row as the experts go for Tuned.

My first 100% trophy game :o

Guys I still stand by my advice^ 100%

If anyone told me they wanted to get the sub 4:30 achieve, I would say normal cars everytime on the route mentioned above.

You just need to race a solid race, no need to over complicate things with a tuned car when it's perfectly doable with a normal car.

I just tried this - got 4:27 first time. I still can't do Goal D on Tuned. However Goal C is easier on Tuned.

So...RLRR Normal or RLRL Tuned and everybody's right B)

What wins for sheer ridiculousness then? Arguing that price has no effect whatsoever on sales, or arguing that it's easier to get fast times with slower cars?

There's only one way to find out. F I G H T!

Aye, Pilotwings is totally right.

I don't doubt that using tuned cars is the only way to get really great times, but his method is by far the most painless way I know of getting sub-4:30.

Nothing to report at the minute, I sent a load of compiled feedback from all the forums to the OOA team (which also went to Sega) though, so they're aware there's a call for it.

If I hear anything, and I can mention it - I'll be back to report.
