Do you know what's messed up?

I was bitching about Depeche Mode with a friend of mine for a good hour last night. Actually really angry at them.

Because it hasn't leaked yet.

As soon as the beers disappear, you suddenly think 'Wow, I really do expecting everything immediately and feel like the world owes me something'.

Bloody internet.

Cheers for that :(

I've been a fan of Depeche Mode for donkeys years (I'm 34) but the past few realses have done bugger all for me. I think the last album I really enjoyed was Ultra and the only thing from Exciter I liked was Freelove (especially the DJ muggs remix). But the new single does sound really good and I was a huge fan of the change in direction with Songs of Faith & Devotion.

Anyway blah yadda blah The Guardian have an interview today with teh Mode. HERE.

all the presale links I could find had no standing tickets left! FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU

I went on presale immediately at the stroke of 9am - I wanted sitting, lower teir - nothing. Didn't want standing - and there were some rubbish upper teir. So - within 10 seconds - all the good seats gone. Probably purchased by ticketmaster themselves so they can sell them on through their ebay like ticket sale thing.

It's getting to be a joke.

A certain album by a certain faux-french-named band has leaked.

I haven't listened to it yet, but my excitement is through the roof. Come on, BT! Give me some speed!

I'm really tempted but it looks like a 128 transcode. I'll wait until I can hear a pristine version, I don't want my first listen of it to be at bad sound quality...

I'm very pissed off but I'm just going to pay my £100 on getmein.com and get a standing ticket for May - I think this is probably going to be the last great DM album and I really want to see them one more time.

I'm lucky - I got tickets for the first show at face value in good seats - just wanted to go again in December, as the o2 arena is such a great venue, and only about half an hour away from me. Hohum!

So I've got the deluxe box set on order and was looking forward to sitting down on day of release with CD in player, all that lovely extra content in hand, listening to it in pristine lossless CD format and flipping through the booklet and taking it all in just like you used to do in the good old days.

Of course, 5 minutes after finding a half-decent rip of the whole album it was downloaded and on my ipod. Oh well, so much for determination.

Anybody that has read anything about the making of the album will know about Martin Gore's massive fetish for buying old analogue kit off ebay and this album just screams’ I’VE GOT A NEW ANALOGUE KEYBOARD AND I’M GONNA USE IT!!’. It’s also the best thing they’ve done since SOFAD.

It feels like a really optimistic record, the arrangements are really straight out of mid-80's DM and are all the better for it. The first track 'In Chains' is the best opener since World in My Eyes and the closer ‘Corrupt’ is a classic DM electro-boogie stompathon. Standouts in-between are the single 'Wrong', the wonderfully retro and probable next single 'Peace', the clipped beats of ‘Come Back’ and ‘Perfect’ which could have come straight off ‘Some Great Reward’, it’s just got that vintage Gore chorus that made me fall in love with DM 25 years ago. Its good stuff and even the couple of clunkers on there could well be growers given a few listens.

Can't really tell from the rip but it also feels like it hasn't been mastered to within an inch of its life like Playing The Angel. It feels less crushed and has been given room to breathe. Hope that wasn’t too spoilery and I’m probably going to delete them now safe in the knowledge that the £60 for the box set is money well spent.

You see..... I listened to it, and thought "hmmmmm." Nothing on it at all stood out on first listen, just seemed like so much..... bland.

Will give it some serious listen tomorrow, and hopefully it's a grower.

I've not heard the new album but this is exactly how I felt after first listening to Songs of Faith and Devotion - subsequently my second favourite album. Hearing good things about this one so fingers crossed...

EDIT: I've had a few listens this afternoon and I've been surprised by how much I like it. I really thought that I wouldn't like any new stuff (I'm not a big fan of Playing the Angel at all) but this one's definitely going to get some more attention.

Finally bothered to get tickets for the Wednesday O2 gig - but I'm still going to keep my eyes open for people selling on May tickets.

I've been loitering on Home the past couple of days. One of the best bits of a new Depeche album coming out is watching people get angry because they don't like the album, or claim, after 24 hours, it's the band's best album ever.

:(

I'm liking this new album. I found a 320Kbps version by the way.

I'm SO looking forward to the concert in June.

-EDIT- in fact, it has some brilliant tracks on it. It feels fresh and at the same time very oldskool

There isn't a real 320K version around yet, you've got a transcode...
