This is charming as fuck! - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1979470/Spacewing_War/

Even on the hardest difficulty, this isn't too interesting. Hopefully the game ramps up later on.
Has potential though, getting cho ren sha vibes.

Both of these feel like they could get better too

No demo, but this looks like it'll be fun - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1964620/AISZplus/

Sorry if I've mentioned any of these already, I lose track.

Disappointingly, there's no way to practice the bosses on Deathsmiles. To practice the final stage's bosses you have to slog through all of the final stage itself first, all for 60 seconds of trying to figure out the bullet patterns again. Seems like a massive oversight.

I don't practise myself, I like to do things the hard/stupid way, but you could use save states in mame if you wanted to get your strategy down for that boss.

The last boss isn't too bad, to be honest, especially if you get the cake. You'll only face him a couple of times before you've got it all down. It looks scarier than it is, which is always great fun.

Sale on xbox, space moth, star hunter, and sisters royale, around £3 each.

I just fired up star hunter again the other day. I've totally forgotten how to star hunt, but it's slowly coming back.

I have unfinished business with that game, never did get the bullet hell 1cc.

Space moth and star hunter are both top tier.

Sisters Royale, I didn't care so much for, but some people really dig it.

Why the hell does this site limit the amount of hearts you can dish out? What are you afraid of, too much love?

Been playing some Kyokyoku Tiger on the Egret II Mini. Such a rush when you get a good rhythm going and it plays really nicely with a pad from the Astro City Mini. I should really open my PS4 version but I know I'll feel frustrated with my control options. I've never really got on with Dual Shocks of any flavour. I wonder if the AC Mini pads can be used with Brook convertor on a PS4. Hmmm ...

I've got a Brook converter that I can use my 360 sticks with, but I've switched allegiance to pads over the last few years as I seem to do better* that way. I should probably change one of my sticks to a Seimitsu rather than Sanwa and see if I fare better.

* but still terrible

That’s just reminded me I have them ordered with First Press Games. Just checked their release status and almost all of it has been pushed back. Those guys are probably going to end up going bust before I get anything from them 🙄

Galacticon is fantastic, but runs last a really long time. I've played for 3 hours already and only had two runs!

Top of the leaderboard, baby! - https://www.galacticon.net/leaderboards/

There's a highscore competition going on, but get this, it lasts until december the 1st, so you can guarantee some madman is gonna grind the shit out of it, and it ain't gonna be me!

It's great fun, but it's far too easy early on and I think the runs might just take too long for me to play it too often.

Oh wow, Drainus is excellent! 115 minutes for a 2-all on normal though. Is it me or did shmups used to respect your time? :D

Brilliant game, when you finish it you unlock arcade, hard, and ridiculous difficulty modes. Plenty to sink your teeth into here.

Reminds me a lot of natsuki chronicles. I love it when a game like this that hasn't been on my radar just appears out of nowhere!

Was reminded how much I like Crimzon Clover despite not really putting any time into it, so I've gone and started trying to get the Novice 1CC. Had my closest run yet tonight - saw the bullet coming towards me and pressed Break but must've been a tiny bit late as this happened:

  Reveal hidden contents

That's the very last boss in case people are unaware 😭

Anyway, then had a quick go of Arrange, which is certainly an interesting change, but that resulted in me unlocking the Type-Z ship. I only had time to try the first level with it but it seems like the Type-I but just better?! Think I'll be swapping to that for the time being and seeing how that goes.

I've decided to put some time into Crimson Clover at last, not least because the opening stage music is excellent.

A n00b question, but how should I be using lock on homing shots? At the moment I'm keeping auto fire held down, while repeatedly holding lock on, releasing, lock on, release, etc. Is this the right way to play? At the moment it seems that lock on just slows me down and distracts me from shooting things with my regular fire.

Any advice appreciated! Though I'm focusing on survival rather than score at the mo!

^ i get confused with the scoring tbh, but think you're pretty much doing it right for survival, i think if you don't use the lock on you'd be down on fire power. some basic scoring stuff is point blank with your shot to increase a multiplier, like on the invunlerable (untill they open their shell) enemies on stage 1. and filling your lock-shot up to maximum lock-ons before firing gets you another multiplier. probably depends on the game mode too.

edit - oh yeah i think you're supposed to try to kill the bosses with a lock on shot

Awesome, thanks. Will read. I guess I'm trying to avoid playing the game like I play Rez - mindlessly holding the button, wiggling about until max lock on, release, repeat. But maybe that's the way.

Bigger boys came and took my galacticon score, but I fought them off.

3 effing hours that run took. I'm not kidding. Checked on the steam overlay and I'd be playing for 178 minutes.

Eff that.

Dear devs, you might want to wait until your game has been out in the wild for a month and you've rebalanced it based on player feedback before you start a competition that lasts until bloody december!

A run of this should be lasting 30 minutes not 3 bleeding hours!

That's more or less the best survival technique, although it is worth thinking about your lock-on attack a little as you want to restock bombs/breaks ASAP, as they're you're get out of jail free card whenever there's a bullet curtain or tight spot. Hitting more enemies with a single lock produces more medals, replenishing the gauge faster.

Lock-on use becomes a lot more technical for scoring runs, but no need to worry about it yet. Good luck, dude!

Yeah, I'd say it definitely is.
The arrange was handled by studio siesta (hurricane of the varstray, trouble witches), and it's loads of fun.

Bright, colourful, lots of fun to play.

On top of that, you get a fun time attack mode and the original X68000 version of the first cotton game.
Very low input lag across all systems.

The arrange is quite a breezy 1cc, but it's all about the scoring. Lots of hypering and using magic. It's a blast.

Unfortunately some of the boss phases can be milked for a while, but it's not tooooo bad.

15 quid is a decent price. Snap it up.

This sounds like it's going to be very simple, but could still be fun if it's balanced well. No bosses, just an endless run of 1 minute stages, see how long you can last. Coming this month, it says.

Eden's Eclipse coming along nicely :D

Haha, I've mastered the technique of turning my head to the side, my eyes never leaving the screen, and sneezing up the curtains.

Those 3 seconds you get between stages. Quick swig of your drink, trying to fit 20 minutes worth of blinking into the 1 second you have left.

I'm making four games this year. I'm getting pretty busy

Due to the specification change, the program that I made over 3 months was almost remade, and the tension dropped, but I managed to change my mind. Let's use this program for our new game! So, add another project
