Jones winning should put this 'rivalry' to bed once and for all so I'd like that outcome. The alternative is this being dragged out even more.

The winner doesn't really have an awful lot out there to fight though looking at the current rankings.

Looking through the UFC's rankings in general really doesn't bode well for their short term future either.

I just hope this happens. With DC's weight cut issues in his last fight to JJ's antics outside of UFC. Jones Should win, on paper, he knows how to fight DC. DC wont do anything different here from there last fight and JJ has handled it before. Also DC is 2 years older now and if Jones wins, I can see DC retiring. even if DC picks up the win, I can't see him defending the belt again unless they do a rubber match with JJ.

I watched their last fight again the other day and in the early rounds DC was catching Jones with shots, especially in the clinch. If DC is going to win wins, he wins like this.

Not really sure, I just saw that he said he wont fight until his contract issues are resolved. Money issues as usual id imagine

Who is in line to fight Stipe next? I can't see anyone beating him at the moment. Werdum again? It was such clear cut win last time. Cain is still out I guess and even then, he probably shouldn't go straight into a title fight. I know Overeem just beat Werdum but it was shit. Plus Overeem got KO'd in R1 in their last fight.

I think its Overeem, who else bar a superfight against Jones or Cormier ive no idea. Manuwa is fighting this weekend to, if he wins maybe he'll get a title shot or an eliminator against Gus, but iirc they said they wont fight eachother. I want Alexander to get another shot, imo he beat both of Jones and Cormier. I'd really like Gustaffson to try HW for the hell of it.

There's a rumour going round that UFC want Lesnar back for a money fight and it could be against Jon Jones. How ridiculous would that be.

Lesnars name is pretty sullied now after the drugs test and also there's 27kg (4.25st) between the two.

UFC really don't care about the sport anymore do they, as long as they get paid.

Lesnar vs absolutely anyone is money in the bank for the UFC so it's not unthinkable. Two of the three golden geese (McGregor and Rousey) have obviously pretty much left the organisation leaving only Jones as the de facto main star. I'd suggest making it a two on one though to even things up. Perhaps Anderson Silva as Jones tag team partner? Donald Trump as special guest referee.

Agree, stick Lesnar against me and it will sell more PPVs than any other active champ they have (I think of McG as inactive) - that fact alone makes it quite likely to happen.

I don't think Jones has ever been a mega PPV guy, he's certainly not DJ who's fights they can't give away but apart from the first Cormier fight he was always middling on PPV sales according to this

I can't see Lesnar being anything other than a human punching bag without his roids.

Rockholds back soon which should be good I guess. I imagine him crawling back into contention sharpish.

Bit weird though. The middle weight division in Bellator is arguably better now, no?

It's getting there but it's not great. Bar Mousasi, Carvalho is champ by default, Shlemenko is decent but seemingly on an open contract, then you get to the (admittedly entertaining) sluggers like Manhoef, Kato and Grove. I guess Salter is coming along and they have a couple of unbeaten prospects but that doesn't mean much in Bellator unfortunately.

Their WW and LHW though are definitely closer.

Jones was champ s Long time ago. I'd argue ufc has scaled quite a bit since

I dont think it has actually - look at the buy rates for any card that doesnt have Connor or Rousey headlining.

Those 2 inflated the business in the run up to the sale.

I'm not sure of the nature of their finances and how big a part of them US ppv sales are  - but suspect they need better than 400k sales on an ongoing basis, and hardly anybody does that

I think they're moving away from PPVs to even the spread of fighters across Fight Nights etc I'd suppose this would guarantee larger TV deals, rather than the company being prone to fluctuating PPV numbers.

Easy to make fighters into household names if they're on more screens, and reap merchandise and commercial tie-ins.

Id think the new UFC will be much more non-ppv based and go toward huge sports channels rights issueing like the NFL etc which will bring in big money quickly compared to the drip drip of PPVs even if theyre big ones.

I see Luke Rockhold is returning in september against somebody Im not really aware of David Branch iirc.

Whoever Rockhold is fighting I hope he ends up flat on his back being counted out and the first thing he sees when coming round is a grinning Michael Bisping sat at ringside.

In case it isn't clear I can't stand Luke Rockhold.

Hmm...  I just want to see those matchups now after writing that haha.

I could see Rockhold and Jacare being happy to jump if Bellator offered them cash. They've been Coker guys before, and both have beef with Dana and feel mistreated.

If that happens, then we see something for the UFC to worry about. Or we would if they had any awareness of the sport they dominate.

He is a twat isn't he? Post bisping I don't recall any injury keeping him on the sidelines.

TBH I used to really like him (as a fighter) and thought he would go on to dominate the middleweight division (after the freak ko to vitor). I like how he fought and his style but he completely lost it against bisping by being far too cocky.

Stipe got just under $700k for his win at UFC 211, which isn't too shabby but the champion in the blue ribband division should be getting a lot more. Looking through recent event payouts it's crazy that Joanna Jedrzejczyk only gets around $200k per fight, and only half of that is guaranteed. Arguably the best P4P fighter in the sport isn't getting retirement money? Bravo, Dana, bravo.

Theres a logic behind it. Fighters are paid based on the PPV's they sell. Thats why Brock Lesnar got paid $2.5 mill and Mark Hunt only got $700 000 despite Hunt being ten times better.

We're in that interesting period where we don't know if Rockhold's lost it or not. To me, there's no question that he handles Bisping as easily as the first time (Single arm guillotine :D ), but he simply didn't care the second time.

His striking is dynamic and exciting, and his grappling game mixes top-heavy wrestling with aggressive subs. He's outstanding to watch. If he's broken now, it's largely his own doing, not a chance clip on the chin by Bisping.

And can we PLEASE play UFC fantasy more? I'm happy to run, push and remind everyone to make their picks. We have a good fanbase here, would be fun to make a game of it

I used to be a big fan to, its hard to support people who are arseholes. As theres no teams its based purely on how the fighters fight and what theyre like as people.

He's like some karate kid bad guy who's just a pure twat on every level. Yes, he's a good looking chap which I assume is why he's got away with some of the weird things he's done; groping a tiger, bragging about beating up guys on the beach (yeh that would make you the bully, luke), plus all his pre fight douchbaggery.

When he had the belt he was talking down to everyone like he was the GOAT. First title defense he gets KO'd.

I think Jon Jones may have finally accepted his heel status at the press conference. Bicked Lex Luthor head, throwing his shirt off and getting in DC's face, saying 'I'll deal with Daniel Cormier then I'll deal with Brock Lesnar'.

Evil Jon Jones. Well Eviler Jon Jones.

I dunno - there are many reports of Cerrone acting just as much of a cunt, and he gets a free pass despite not being such a handsome chap.

I still think that Rockhold has the tools to be the best MW of his generation. Bisping beat him, but in no universe is Bisping a better fighter.

That being said, if Rockhold gets opportunities in acting or similar, I could see us never finding out if he could be the goat. He certainly doesn't come across as missing fighting over the last year.

This Lesnar Jones bullshit is a fucking good idea to bring in fans for fight week.

Jones looks so ready to stop talking and get this fight in the bag. You can see the belief, under all that shit, he knows he's gonna fuck DC up. I'm not a DC hater at all, I just think it's written all over him at this point.

I reckon come Saturday it could be the biggest whooping ever seen in the octagon.
