Apparently Nelson was eyepoked 4 times. In what was a pretty short fight, thats pretty hard to do without intent behind it. I saw one that was pretty obvious and was annoying him but Gunnar  being who he is he'd never complain.

Bring back the cards from Pride. 1 eye poke = a yellow card.

Maybe a yellow card and put on the ground with guy who got eye poked in full mount. I'm sure everyone will 'magically' stop doing eye pokes overnight.

Finished watching The Hurt Business while pounding a treadmill this morning and my strongest feeling about it is I really, really hope DC can beat Jones this time around.

Decent doc, shows the stars plus a few low-key fighters and the sacrifices they make. Felt it could have spent more time on Dana's influence (especially given the talking heads' brief thoughts on him) and the lack of money most fighters make but still worth a look if you've not already done so.

Strange seeing Rousey in her former state, and thinking how much those two losses pretty much broke her.

I'll give it a watch thanks.

Cant wait for Weidman v Gastellum on saturday. I really like Kelvin, especially at 185lbs, Weidman is tough for the 1st round then drops off more and more especially in a 5 rounder. I really want Kelvin to win and i think he will.

How long were you on the tread mill for!?

I can't watch this stuff tbh. The history of MMA has been so heavily redacted by Dana that his involvement means it lacks credibility.

Any mention of Sherdog covering all of MMA so the few fans at the time could watch? any mention of Dana trying to prevent other orgs competing? what about them trying to change MMA to 'UFC' - which has nearly worked at this point and he said it a good 15 years ago.

Two hours and six minutes... marathon training indoors because it's 45C outside!

No, not enough on Dana unfortunately... he could take up an entire doc on his own. Tito Ortiz briefly speaks about how he quit after having enough of White, and a few others are diplomatically critical.

Is it you whose in Singapore or Malaysia? Sorry if im mistaken, i forget which or if its you at all   Actually is it Holland?

Where are you doing your marathon? I used to run a lot 6 - 10miles at a decent pace, but i stopped as i was training fir something which didnt pan out and then i'd just keep adding more and more and it'd take too long and was damaging my knees.

I know what @Stevedave is getting at with Dana and "history" he's a megalomaniac for sure.

I'm in the UAE :) Doing the marathon in Chicago in October, followed by a few nights in Vegas. Will be marathon #6, but the first one for almost a decade. I went through some issues and piled on 20kgs in the last couple of years, and this is me attempting to draw a line under things and get healthy again before I reach 40 in a couple of years.

Knees and hips take the brunt of running; don't think I'll do too many more marathons. Do you still run shorter distances?

Working through the UFC from last night, belter of a KO in the Oliveria Laflare fight.

Sorry for mixing up lications, i knew it was somehwere not the UK. I do run still yeah, usually about 3 or 4 miles,  5miles at the very most, but its mainly off-road with shirt sharp hills and some long steady hills to. A guy at work has done the New York and London marathons.

Main card is pretty good, one thing ill mention is apparently Gian Villante gets up to 250lb between fights! How can you ever be a serious fighter if you do that?

Great fucking show from Chris Weidman. Knew Kelvin could end it in round one; glad Weidman got the win though. Seemed a bit too tentative to let his hands go, but there was about 20 seconds in second round that show he's top level. Props to the dude, must've been a huge relief for him and his family after a 3 loss streak.

Arghhhh fuck off Weidman's dad. Prick.

Why does he ruin it for him!?

I would just curl up and die if that happened to me everytime I lost or won.

Pleased for Weidman in a way as he would have been in serious shit if he lost. The guy was living in his parents basement until he was 30 because he had zero money so you have to respect what he's done. I just think his dad needs to step away and stop embarrassing him

Pleased for Patrick Cummins too. He's jumped in at the very top and done quite well for himself - he was only 4-0 when he fought DC.

Yeah as much as i wanted Kelvin to win, I've nothing but respect for Weidman. Pity about his dad prancing about though

Agree with you @stevedave about Patrick, he's the polar opposite of Villante who tries to cruise through on talent and power, but he gets exposed for not working hard enough. Going back to what i said about his weight, i just cant believe that when Stann says Villante weighs more than Stipe. No wonder he fades so badly.

Am i insane or has Conorbchanged his name from Mac-Gregor to Mc-Gregor? I swear it was "Mac" until this fight. My mums maiden name McIntosh so im always aware of the Mc/Mac prefix thing. Also Conors instagram is "the Mac life" not the "Mc" life. WTF is going on?!

Its always been Mc.

McFly did someone slap a choke on you to long today ?

edit - I'm guessing he went with The Mac Life as his brand as Mc life had already been taken. The MC Life sounds like a rapper tbh.

What happened to MacFly is the real question...

So then this is the week we check every day to see what's scuppered DC or Bones. Or any other of the fights on the best card since 205.

Early morning check of the overnight MMA sites to make sure its not been cancelled yet - sure we're all doing this for the next few days.

Recent UFC history means even a fighter making weight doesn't guarantee they'lol show up in the ring, lets hope DC manages his weight cut properly this time round and doesn't have to lose a few lbs magically in a few mins back stage.

Like his line that 'I may not have a 6 pack but at least my dick works'

I've no real love for DC as always thought of him as a jock dick - that said its pretty hard to root for Jones nowadays either. My call though is that however good Jones is it will be a real struggle for him to overcome his inactivity in recent years and win this one.

As much as Jones has been an idiot over the past couple of years I really dislike DC. I hope Jones smashes him but I worry about the ring rust.

I think he's probably the strongest he's ever been but he could and may gas under the spot light.

Jones winning should put this 'rivalry' to bed once and for all so I'd like that outcome. The alternative is this being dragged out even more.

The winner doesn't really have an awful lot out there to fight though looking at the current rankings.

Looking through the UFC's rankings in general really doesn't bode well for their short term future either.

What an awesome card, better than both centennials. Until its sunday morning and im seeing it i  cant relax.

Agree with Black Cat about the rankings/future fights, not too much to get excited about except some rematches at LHW. If Stipe is saying he wont fight until his contract is sorted then HW isnt moving forward much either, Id love to see Jones and Stipe go at it though.

What's the deal with Stipe?

One thing I don't understand. During events they sometimes show the rankings and some stats (won last 3 for example) but they never show WHO they've fought in there last x amount of fights. Why not? It would help newcomers get a grip on rankings and who has beat who. I can't think of a positive as to why you wouldn't show such info?

Stipe got just under $700k for his win at UFC 211, which isn't too shabby but the champion in the blue ribband division should be getting a lot more. Looking through recent event payouts it's crazy that Joanna Jedrzejczyk only gets around $200k per fight, and only half of that is guaranteed. Arguably the best P4P fighter in the sport isn't getting retirement money? Bravo, Dana, bravo.

Hope DC beats Jones; enjoy DC playing the heel more than Jones' wrestling with struggles entirely of his own doing. Whatever happens, hopefully Gustafsson is the next challenger, and finally gets his hands on the gold.

Would love Maia to beat Woodley but think the champion wins via KO. Cyborg will fold Evinger in half and Lawler Cerrone is just a strap in and enjoy the ride kind of fight.... man alive, what a card. Wrap them all up in cotton wool!

First Embedded is up:
