Great fight by Gus but if I was a Jones or Cormier (or any other top rank guy) I'd look at the negatives in it (from Gus' perspective)

He does that weird running away thing and shipped a lot of punches himself, plus his power looked good but took him longer than it should to get Glover out of there.

Great fight, don't think it moves up my view of Gus beyond him being 'very good'

I get what Gustaffson is doing with the resetting/running but it doesnt look good and i could see it counting against him with the judges.

Kinda agree and disagree about his power though, he's no Rumble obviously, but he put Glow-worm down in the 2nd round. If he piled on the pressure he couldve finished him earlier than he did but he kept on chipping away before finishing him 100%

Speaking of Rumble he tweeted something about "getting that itch" and "someone needs to show these guys how to uppercut". Shortest retirement ever possibley?

I wonder if his new career maybe didn't work out?

I miss Rumble, but I think we've seen the limit of his skills. I'm the future he'd only be useful for derailing upcoming prospects in dramatic style.

Don't know what to think with Cirkunov, hopefully it was just a magic punch that landed perfectly.

I always wonder how Dana feels after people play hardball with him in negotiations, then immediately lose.

Its possible. Apparently his idea was to provide CBD products to the LA Rams to help post training recovery or something along those lines.

Who does Gus even fight now? he's lost to Jones and DC. He'd be in for a long wait for either plus Manuwa is now his team mate so that fight isn't happening.

I don't know where Glover goes from here. He's at the JDS stage in his career where he's still tough as hell but has lost a step due to being in too many wars.

Gus is fighting winner of DC/Jones isnt he? I thought that was all set, it could happen at christmas/new years eve i reckon.

No idea about Glover though, fights Manuwa or the lose of Jones/Cormier? I wonder how many fights he has left on his deal? An all-Brazillian battle against Shogun or Anderson in Brazil could be awesome

I'd assume Glover would beat Shogun. I'm still not understanding why shogun is still at 205lbs. He'll never win the belt again.

Anderson on the other hand, I do have a feeling despite what everyone thinks that he could win the belt one more time. I've watched all his fights since the injury and it still feels like he could pull the trigger; seems he has some sort of mental block though.

LHW is so weird. Manuwa is supposed to be at DC/Jones either as standby or on the undercard (now it seems the Swiss guy from Sunday is interested) so he is seemingly the #1 contender, but where that leaves Gus I have no idea.

I read a Metro article a few days ago about Manuwa's 'masterplan' should he and Gus ever be required to fight:

http://metro.co.uk/2017/05/25/jimi-manuwa-insists-refusal-to-fight-alexander-gustafsson-would-continue-if-either-became-ufc-champion-6661926/

Basically, DC/Jones needs to happen this time as it will be a massive shot in the arm for the division.

I will never believe DC Jones is happening until both of them are stood nose to nose in the octagon - between 1 being injury prone and the other a total screw up its always at risk. For all his talk I'm surprised the Dana White is chucking Jones straight back into a main event title shot, something he said he'd never do. PPV sales must be down with ROnda and Connor both inactive.

These polish lady fighters have something about them don't they, both JJ and KK come across so well in embedded vids

I think being non-American is part of it as American fighters know that huge endorsements are potentially available if they behave a certain way. And JJ and KK   as amazing as they are its doubtful theyd be given adverts to appear in or whatever so they are just natural the whole time. Which actually makes them more marketable

Manuwa v Oezdemir confirmed for 214. So with both in camps, one will no doubt replace whoever drops out first between DC / Jones.

I love JJ. Do any of you remember the episode of TUF23 when she was explaining that she liked one of the guys she was coaching because he had "a little crazy dude living in his head"? I feel like that kind of describes her. She seems crazy sometimes with stuff she says but you can tell it's all basically a by-product of her hyper-competitiveness. Even the awkward trash-talking she's prone to is somehow endearing.

JJ is immense. Not that the P4P rankings count for much besides debate, but she should be top 3. She dissected Andrade; that performance was fantastic, adding to her list of dismantling opponents. Only Gadelha ran her close (maybe beat her) but the rematch was entirely JJ.

She's a born fighter, fun on camera and a joy to watch in the Octagon. Wish there were more like her, rather than the McGregor wannabes.

Wonder if she'll headline Gdansk in October, would be a fun night!

It's a dangerous fight, and it's also the one that gets him the record for title defences.

I can understand his apprehension, but it's a genuine chance to make a name for himself. The name that he deserves. I hope he does it, as many of his title fights weren't exactly against worthy opposition.

Not that Anderson's all were either...

God, it's so crazy to think that Romero, Jacare, Khabib, Ferguson etc have to beg and scrape for title shots, when the likes of Leites, Cote, and all of DJ/Rousey's opposition got shots.

Ferguson wants it, but Khabib has been very quiet since the weight cut issue last time. As such, Ferguson is chasing a Nate Diaz fight, though Al Iaquinta has called him out.

Khabib's also on Ramadan, so he'll be quiet for a while longer, but something doesn't feel right about the fiasco last time. Like we didn't get enough information...

Iaquinta vs Ferguson could be an awesome fight, I'd watch it over Tony/Al vs Nate.

As for DJ, anniying that he's fine to beat up nobodies and then moan nobody cares then gets offered a bigtime, really interesting fight and says "no thanks".

I'm thinking Khabib suffered something fairly serious during the failed cut, which panicked his team into getting him to ER rather than flagging the issue to UFC's medical team.

Really got no idea who will win between Aldo and Holloway, id just like an awesome fight please. Holloway is taller but doesnt have a big reach advantage iirc, if Jose gets his leg kicks going it could be nasty for Max. I think "Blessed" should go for a takedown just to mix things up. Aldo wins on points butit could either way.

Karolina on points (But she might get Claudia with a sub after Claudia takes her down expecting to dominate but shes wrong.)

Marquardt by KO against Vitor

Medieros beats Erik Silva

Not sure about the rest.

didn't he have awful problems the fight before cutting weight too ?

I hope Aldo gets smashed in less than 30s again tonight, but any loss will be fine by me.

He's had that long injury lay-off. Also read he cuts from 190lbs, which would be crazy for Lightweight. Still hope the Ferguson fight happens but the whole top-end of the division is clusterfuck at the moment.

Same re Aldo, any Holloway victory will do very nicely. Love hearing Brazilian crowds silenced.

Hope KK will earn her rematch with JJ, but think Gadelha overpowers her and gets a sub.

I've always had an irrational dislike of most things Brazilian (not everything but most things) - I loved their humiliating defeat at home in the world cup to Germany and dislike the attitude of the crowd with their idiotic you're going to die chant.

Aldo is a sour faced little misery so would love to see him get slapped at home.

It's strange how the brazilian crowd has changed. In 94 they seemed to be the happy go lucky fun crowd. Now it's like they've imported the football hooligan attitude from the uk in 80's and it's made them all anxiety ridden in sports. More fool them I suppose.

As much as I like Holloway, I'd like to see Aldo dominate. He's an all time great who doesn't seem to get the respect he desrves these days.

That said, the only compelling thing for Aldo after this is 155, so maybe a loss wouldn't make a difference. Although two high profile losses might lessen his negotiating power with Dana and hurry him into retirement.

:omg:

Brilliant from Holloway. Rode the early rounds before upping his tempo quite beautifully.

Wonder what Aldo's excuse will be, and whether he'll be tweeting 'pussy' at Holloway after his next fight?
