Larkin was angling for bellator, most likely the UFC chose to pass (they have the right to match on any contracted fighter). Rogan was saying fighters are trying to get cut and go get paid abroad, including Werdum, hence him refusing fights.

Seems like a smart move. If even mid carders were making 200,000 plus from sponsorship then why in the fuck would you want to work your ass off for 2500 plus some reebok trainers.

Remember when Dana white said ' we won't keep any of the money.'

O'rly, dana? I'd be interested to see where that 70 million went then because so far a fighter would have to have fought 20 times to earn 20 grand. WTF.

No Diaz bros on 209. Nice one UFC. Instead we have Woodley headlining - maybe the least liked fighter in UFC history at this point.

Wondering what the reem will look like against Hunt.

35lbs lost at this point.

Ferguson vs Kabib. Can they both lose? that'd be nice.

The Diaz Brothers don't want to fight anyone even if Stockton 209. Nick turned down Lawler and Maia. They want Conor/GSP or title shots. Until one of those morons runs out of money they will keep saying no. You can't blame the UFC for that.

209 is breaking no records but I'm really looking forward to the main card.

Haha where did that come from? @McFly

Anyway as for 209 I can't wait, such a good card. I think Woodley will win handily this time (although I hope he doesn't) and as for the co main I have no idea. I'm leaning towards Ferg by late KO but I think it will be messy.

Postcode coincidences aside, I don't care about the Diaz brothers, they have dug themselves into an irrelevant hole and they can stay there as far as I am concerned.

Psyched for 209, starting with Mothra Vs Godzilla, which should be explosive and quick.

I really haven't warmed to Khabib, so hoping Ferguson wins that one but know he probably won't. Think Woodley will get a relatively quick TKO / KO, even though I'm crossing everything that Wonderboy wins the belt. Really don't get what Woodley's issue is; guess his strength and power comes from carrying that chip around on his shoulder all the time.

Its been on my mind for a while tbh, in the second Overeem picture the girl (Chrissy?) Seems pretty amped looking at Alistair so seems logical she might think "Thatd do me" and act on it. As for the ring guys it just seems fair.

Spot on. What was once endearing is now just stupid.

Cant wait for the fights.

You hear about the Olympic Village being some sort of global orgy fest, with all the fit athletes (and shotputters) just making hay for two weeks, so stands to reason that UFC locker rooms, with similarly youthful enthusiasm, probably are rife with snapchatting or sexting or whatever it is young, free and singles do to get a hook-up these days.

 at the idea of ring boys, not because I think it's an unfair suggestion, but more the crowd reaction when the UFC goes on the road to the South and you've got a ring boy prancing around in hot pants and a load of beered-up rednecks confused at the stirring in their loins between rounds.

Interesting reading the numbers on Woodley in terms of popularity. He has less followers and general interest than anyone the UFC has ever pushed this much by half. It's quite jarring. We know he's an asshole but he is the champ, has been a commentator, hosted the the fox show, and done the weigh run downs.

Any ideas why there's such a massive disinterest in woodley?

Its really strange isnt it? Same with Mighty Mouse although saying that ive never been a big fan of 125lbers in general. Woodley blames race which is complete ballocks as Jones was black and super popular. Tyron and DJ are just bland i suppose, despite being amazing fighters they somehow come across as dull.

I find DJ to be really endearing guy as well as an amazing fighter.

But (despite the flag-waving pretense of being a good guy that you get with so many fighters) most UFC fans don't want a hard working fighter who comes across as an honest, nice guy.

They want giant cartoon villains, playground bullies, stoners, jocks, acrobats and contrived rivalries.

The crowd don't care that DJ can finish all the people in his weight class (and most of the people at BW). Probably because they secretly like to think they could batter him. I hope he goes back to 135 once he's picked up the title defense record. He deserves to make some money.

Tyron's just unpleasant, and not smart enough to make that his gimmick. Which would be money. Instead he's a badass who sounds like a wiener which is off-putting for TapOut types. Having no real defenses, and nobody believing he's the best 170lber on the planet, is what probably puts everyone else off.

I think that's it for me with Woodley, he's not witty or intelligent with the weird 'heel' persona he projects. In some of the previews he comes across much better especially when you see his focus on training and home, but then he undoes that with dickish statements that sound completely hollow, and make him sound a twat.

Chat at work the other day was we'd like to see Romero go up to LH and face DC. Rockhold going up wouldn't be too much of a stretch either, just to put some new names in the mix once Jon 'He'll Never Main Event Again... Here Have the Winner of Cormier Rumble' Jones is back in the picture.

Also the fact that he got the title shot in the first place via a Condit injury, a Hendricks botched weight cut and sitting on his arse and moaning for 18 months.

Oh man, if anyone could deal with DC's wrestling (apart from Jones), it's surely Romero?

Great shout.

He's a perfect heel, if he decided to play up to it.

It also helps that 170lbs is full of 'good guys' for him to slander: Thompson, Lawler, Cerrone, Brown, GSP, Condit, Maia.

That's an awesome call. Slice it up. Make it your promos for 209.

End them all with "This is your last fight in UFC. I’m going to break your face. I’m going to break your career.”

I don't like Tony Ferguson's attitude, but he's an awesome fighter and he's earned a lot. After seeing Khabib struggle with some of Johnson's early striking, I'm not sure I see the steamrolling I once did. But I want to. I want Khabib to continue his run, make his claim as the world's greatest LW and set up an enormous fight in Russia.

WAR KHABIB!

those top 2 fights make the card look very promising

I do like a bit of argy bargy before a fight but they all seem so second rate at it after Conor - a lot of this may be genuine in terms of how they feel, but its just blokes slinging playground insults at each other with every other word being 'fuck', there is little charisma or humour actually on display.

They're trained to be fighters though, no comedians or promoters. Can't hold that against them.

But then I think I'm one of the few who rolls their eyes when Conor reels off another hackneyed, empty line to sell tickets to something he doesn't care about.

I really hope that these athletes don't end up in the McGregor Entertainment business, rather than the MMA business, but people seem to genuinely want it. And that cash has to be tempting for them.

I do get that, its just that for me the whole Conor circus brings a level of excitement to a whole fight week and card that only Lesnar has got near.

Not listened yet but looking forward to hearing Cruz on the latest Rogan.

What are the chances of either of these guys actually fighting Conor? Seems like whoever wins is going to be in for a long wait.

Yeah 2018 is most likely, hence the interim LW belt (iirc), if Conor/Mayweather happens he might even leave the UFC and never defend his belt but thats a long shot i suppose.
