It's probably as simple as an average PPV without a belt on the poster making X fewer buys on average than one with it. Not to mention that you get the pageantry of the belt being put around their waist.

Before the inevitable promo setting up the unification PPV.

Interim belts are annoying but, in the absence of regularly defended titles, I can see why they're appealing to the company. Sigh.

Goldie has finally vented about his UFC release.

"It took 15 years to build this family, and 15 minutes to destroy it".

He's not wrong. I'm still waiting for WME (team debt) to make a good decision. So far they seem to be doing everything possible to sink the UFC brand.

Goldie to Bellator would be nice. In fact, given how associated his voice is with the UFC I think it'd be a bit of a game changer.

It sounded like he was fighting back tears multiple times. He said his goal was to give energy and excitement to every broadcast. That is exactly what somebody like Jon Anik lacks, despite speaking much better.

If Goldie started commentating another promotion, I'd probably watch it just to hear him.

Yeah he was ridiculous (his precision is precise) but they've treated him like shit, and Anik is a far worse broadcaster.

Anik is like a stock create a character in a video game before you change anything. He's that bland there's another guy in his own work place that looks like him; sholler.

I don't even know which is which.

Goldie was far from perfect but he genuinely seemed passionate about mma and had a bit of personality about him. Itd be good if he did work for Bellator with Jimmy Smith i think theyd be nice together, speaking of jimmy i was watching fight quest which i used to love (worth watching on youtube if you havent seen it) but is a little dated now

I agree I hated him at times but then he did come out with some absolute belters every now and then;

'MICHAEL JORDAN -ESQUE IN HIS GRAPPLING SKILLS IS TRAVIS LUTTER! JOE'

Rogan: No. No he's not...

Also.

'WELCOME! TO THE ULTIMATE DEFINING CHAMPIONSHIP!'

That sort of commentating in bellator with some of their crazy fights will be hilarious.

Dos Santos vs stone cold stipe for the belt!

They're both just keeping the belt warm for Ngannou now anyway. Poor Arlovski. :(

Man, that's a weak title fight. JDS is 3-3 in his last 6. Don't know who I'd put in there instead though, the division's so stagnant.

Ngannou does look awesome (that kimura was beastly), but many guys do until they hit a certain level. I can remember getting excited about Karlos Vemola (at HW!) at one point. Then it... didn't work out.

Stipe's a good wrestler, so we'll need to see how Ngannou copes against someone top 10 with good takedowns.

Yeah, Dos Santos is on the slide. If he loses he's pretty much done. I don't see a way back unless he completely changes his game and actually starts using his size and bjj.

Had to look up Karlos Vemola. He's now a middleweight! madness. I remember thinking roger gracie was going to be the next guy at middleweight. Total man mountain;  6'4, 80 inch reach, bjj world champ like 10 times. I don't even know what happened to him. Everyone should have learnt their lesson after Brendon Vera.

Roger fights in WSOF or OneFC I think, hes the champ to iirc.

Jones or Rumble could be HW champ surely?

Easily. Rumble destroyed Andre and DC beat half the heavyweight division in strikeforce. It was only because of Cain he didn't carry on at that weight in the UFC. Bet he's kicking himself now.

Technique is definitely a factor, but strength isn't always signified by body shape. You just need to watch a bit of strongman to see that.

Don't forget that DC cut his teeth at HW and Rumble spent a long time at 170 too.

Obviously Rumble has crazy power now, but DC has been throwing power doubles against elite wrestlers for his entire life.

I think so, (DC could make 185lb i reckon which would be sick seing him fight Romero) i cant think of anything else other than extra discipline or mindset. But Rumble must be tough as fuck mentally to make the cut to 170 so actually i dont know. [\rambling]

DC was 2x olympian and even though Rumble was a national champ iirc its another step up again to DC.

MMA is getting more and more Mainstream. Donna on eastenders yesterday said she felt like shed gone "five rounds with Connor Mcgregor"

This made me laugh way more than it should.

It does seem to have finally overtaken boxing. Not in terms of fighter pay but popularity and views.
