Its worth noting that women wouldn't even be in the UFC if if it wasn't for Rousey before people put the boot in to much.

She looks done though. She will not move away from Edmond even though he is toxic and tbh its starting to look like its to late anyway. Womens MMA looks like its passing her by quickly like it did Royce.

She is Hall of Fame greatness for what she achieved for herself and womens MMA though.

Don't think Rousey's legacy is in question,  but the new generation is here building on that legacy and she just got shoved aside.

Do admit to enjoying the defeat precisely because of the exclusion zone she put around herself for the comeback. She and her team learned nothing from the Holm fight and took a beating. Good luck to her in her next venture (and hope she finds a way to fill the void of MMA); can't wait to see what's next for Nunes.

Well said and i tottally agree.

Its always crap to see a former great get embarrassed but i cant help but feel that way. Shame.

So impressed with Cody, i expected him to steam in and gas out or get danced around for 25mins but no, what a performance. Cnt wait for him vs TJ. Cody by KO, heard it here first!

it finally seems like other women, by using a bit of zx spectrum basic, have found the way to defeat Ronda

10 Punch her in the face

20 goto 10

watching some of her previous fights, they all tried to take her on at her game, if, and now that's a big if, she gets hold of you she stands a really good chance of making you tap out, but her lack of boxing skills has shown a flaw in her game and the rest of the world knows it now.

Already the MMA sites are being rather unkind about her. They've jumped on to the bandwagon and I hope for her sake she reads none of it. I think she should go to WWE. Out of all her options it makes the most sense if she can take a bump. More of a Lesnar role though. Picking and choosing a smaller amount of annual appearances.

With no McGregor, Rousey and Jones, the UFC might have some low numbers coming it's way in the first half of 2017.

wow - main event started pretty dull then really took off

TJ looked amazing in shutting down Linekar and has to get the next shot

Super impressed with the control Gerbrandt showed - I thought he'd get crazy and hot headed and never once did he get suckered into anything, that is not a 1 dimensional blaster. Cruz was made to look very limited, which is what he usually does to people, he had nothing to go to in the latter rounds when he was obviously behind as a KO is never an option for him.

Sad to see Ronda go out like that as I suspect its the last we'll see of her, she almost single handedly created women's MMA at this superstar level and every other female competitor owes her their legitimacy.

edit

wonder how big a deal Ronda is ? She's the lead story on the Daily Mail website now ! Sport of any kind never leads on that site, unless its footballers knocking up each others wives or page 3 girls.

Wow, she was dreadful. Pioneer for sure, but she's tried to coast on reputation and that got obliterated. Personally I think she fell in love with her own hands and her hype, and Tamzarian filled her head with talk of her elite striking (which she's never had).  If she was with her mum and a top team (pardon the pun) still, she'd be growing, judo tossing people and winning instead of hiding from the media, amateur boxing and losing.

Media career might be knackered too as word travels quickly when someone's difficult to work with.

ps love nunes on the mic, 'i beat the shit out of her'. :D

pps - seems she already said what I just said, I hadn't read this..

Ronda will become a case study for up and coming fighters not to believe their own hype - you look at the likes of Connor, and even Garbrandt in this event, and then work so hard to improve and achieve the level they perform at.

Nobody is to blame for Ronda's demise other than her, sure Tarvarian is a cock but he's not going to step aside and kill his business is he, she needed to realise he was no good and cut him.

I can't think of a more hubris driven fall from grace than hers, and I believe she had the tools for greatness, she just picks toxic people to surround herself with.

Yup, I don't doubt she works hard, but she doesn't work smart, everyone around her is toxic, as she is herself. I don't want to dogpile but I think a lot of us thought this stuff for a while anyway. It also shows how mentally strong and smart Conor is to handle it how he has...he has positive people everywhere and hires the best. Look at Kavanagh compared to Armin for a start.  Ah well, a new era of WMMA now I think, the old guard are getting out, like Miesha Tate knows she can't compete any more either, her brawling isn't going to work against Nunes, she'd be smashed to pieces too.

Glad Cruz lost tbh; his style is so boring, and he always spoke so highly of himself during the trash talk, kind of glad he's fallen. Gabrandt vs. Dillashaw will be more interesting.

Will it? TJ basically modelled his entire style on Cruz. But yes I agree it opens up the division, that title fight (and the TAM history) then Cruz vs Almeida or Lineker or Riveira will be great.

As for the fight, Garbrandt absolutely knocked it out of the park. Never thought I'd see Cruz get outpaced and out punched like that. Can't stand the guy, but fair play.

The main was stunning. Nunes is a killer and I loved her on the mic afterwards. 'Forget about Ronda Rousey!'

If she had anyone with a brain in her entourage they would tell her to go to Greg Jacksons for a year, or up with TJ and Ludwig for a bit. She's still fixable, but only if someone removes that chip on her shoulder. I'm not sure if that's possible though.

Really liking Nunes in the post-fight presser. So level headed and humble.

Rousey really needs to worry about her mental condition and well-being and seek some professional counseling. Kinda worried for her.

Garbrandt was surprisingly entertaining to watch - a certain Buster Keaton-esque quality to all his shenanigans yet he never lost his composure or concentration.

She does. Hes' 2-3 since joining Tarverdyan too.

Tarverdyan also apparently has a portrait of himself next to Muhammad Ali in his gym despite having NO boxing experience at all. The more you read about this guy the more delusional he seems to be.

Edit:

Found it!

I stumbled across an old article yesterday from around the time of the Correia fight where Tamzarian was saying Ronda's striking was the best in the world and if she crossed over to boxing she would destroy anyone she faced. Delusion is the word, and unfortunately Ronda believed every word. She just has this weird boxing stance I can't get over, she sort of holds her elbows at right angles like a chicken.

hoovering up the remains of videos on youtube after UFC saw Nunes weighing in again in her mask, she calls herself the lioness but the mask has a mane so is clearing from a lion.

pedantic but would have thought she'd known the difference.

she stood like that when bruce was doing his thing and I was like uh-oh.  Love Amandas breakdown of it all too at her conference, perfect.

Goodbye Goldberg.

Bloody disgrace by the UFC and deserves  better.

It's gonna be like when WWF canned Jim Ross and then came crawling back once they realised, hamminess aside, what a big part of the whole 'experience' he was.

Do we know why yet? All ive seen so far is Danas scrum where he said he hoped to have his "plan in place" by July 2017 or so.   So he's hunting down another announcer? Anik was doing the Fox show as usual and was so ridiculously over-slick it was awful, I particularly hate his use of the phrase "MMA leader", as he said last night on Fox to Dana.."where next in 2017 for the MMA leader", absolutely terrible broadcasting.
