The thing with these fighters and this sport, we forget as brits (well I do anyway) what these athletes are like, how enormous the egos are and how much they love themselves (some of them anyway). Over here, as much as we are fans, its still covered in a niche way, we see a lot of the athletes as plucky. But Hendricks is a berk, his ego is enormous, he's arrogant, rude, he's had his PEDs taken away, he invested in a restaurant that cut so many corners the locals hate it. He drives around in a ridiculous truck (below) no doubt annoying people wherever he goes. And now he can't even make the weight because he can't cheat, and nothing's his fault. I get you stevedave, but I think the man, sadly, is just a pillock.

Garbrandt has a glock tattooed on his back. The guys mums a school councilor and he's from a middle class area... WTF.

His dad was apparently pretty much a career criminal so I don't think he came up as sheltered as people think. The thing that offends me most about him is he acts like a badman but he plucks his eyebrows.

I found his girlfriend irritating, and the way he spoke to her condescending. Man, I hope he doesn't win. Also if Ronda wins we'll all be expected to swallow her hype again, and I feel like when she can't even be arsed to give us one sentence at the weigh ins, we're beneath her contempt.  Hopefully some satisfying justice tomorrow. Oh and I'd like to see Lineker (who made weight, hurray) knock that entitled expression off Dillashaw's face too.

Felt sorry for him doing that presser all messed up but when he missed weight all I can think of is Rumble made 170. Rumble Johnson! the man mountain who could easily mix it up at heavyweight. Anderson Silva fought at 170 and (this is going back) joe riggs was a super heavy who fought at 170 - that guy was an absolute unit too. He knows these people exist right? and they dwarf him.

I don't think Rumble is a great example of cutting to 170 as he missed weight a few times trying to get there and looked fucked when he did. He is usually used as an example of the opposite to crazy weight cuts and that fighting at the right weight for your body makes you a stronger fighter.

Hendricks I've seen ballon in weight between fights, just eating shite and not training, so I've no sympathy for him. He comes across like a tool in every interview I have ever seen by him too, so if he gets cut after tomorrow I don't really care.

Cruz does seem to have done a number on Garbrandt in the lead up to this fight, its got all the hallmarks of Conor v Aldo about it, though of course Cruz never shown destructive KO power to take advantage of  arranging opponent.

So many questions about Ronda mentally for this, the locking herself away in silence thing may backfire, in the latest embedded she seemed a bit surprised at people at a weigh in, no avoiding the spotlight when you walking into the arena.

Do wonder with Hendricks (and a couple of other fighters) whether they are caught in between divisions, they boil themselves down now without some of the assistance they had in the past and just can't get the last few pounds off. Sure he's an arrogant dick and all that but he won't keep missing weight and ruining his career on purpose. Its 15lbs up to middleweight and whilst its clear he's not a MW he seems unable to safely make WW now either.

what makes the Rousey fight interesting is her terrible reaction to the loss - nothing would surprise me in terms of result, when she was focussed her skills were very impressive and steam rollered everybody, then along came Holm. How will she react to getting hit again ? I can't make a prediction stand up on basis of logic as think her mental state is what makes the outcome of this fight

This exactly it for me - and what makes the fight a must-watch. I believe that Rousey has the skillset to mangle Nunes, but is she broken?

I can almost definitely believe that her loss gave her a genuine depression. Her identity could tied up completely in WMMA, what she'd done for it, and her crossover appeal. Very few reach the peaks she's reached, so it's a stretch to suggest we know what falling from such a height would be like.

Cruz has played a blinder. I agree with everyone that Garbrandt is awful, and I hope he gets a real kicking. Dillashaw is horrendously bitter and boring now, so I hope one of two things happens: Cruz talks more, putting down his whole division (in a reasonably classy way - he's no raconteur), or Cruz finally moves up.

Lol at Hendricks missing weight again. Has he had the biggest fall from grace in ufc history? Champ to (possibley) cut in 2 years or so?

I wish Ronda had switched camps, then id have more faith in her winning a few fights before she retires. Tarverdiyan (sorry for the spelling) seems to derail anyone career who goes there, travis browne, jake ellenberger to name 2.

Anyway.

Ronda wins by armbar (or nunes by 1st round ko?

Cruz on points

Lineker by tko

I don't know why they've chopped Goldie, he's part of the roots of the sport and as such should have a seat at the table, even if they scale him back and use him more sparingly.

Is there a more gender equal sport now in the world than MMA ? In terms of integration of the fights into the biggest cards, even headlining them where appropriate, and the status of the female champions I can't think of any other sport that competes - I thought of tennis which pays equal but the ladies finals are always the day before the mens in the slams, and over a shorter distance.

There has been no enforced quotas, no forcing of women's fights onto us like we should be enjoying them even though they're crap, its all merit based and the UFC deserves a lot of credit for this, its a benchmark for how sporting equality can be achieved if you do it right.

Hoping for a Cruz win, a Ronda win (just to shake things up even though I dislike her) and Hendricks to get smashed and disappear. he's in exactly the same boat as Gastelum i.e. is just fat and refuses to eat correctly.

Joe Riggs for comparison who's bigger than both of them: 6'1 and built like a tank.

I've just been using Mobdro (Android or Fire Stick apk). It's not Full HD but it's working well.

I'm also going to be sad to see Goldie go. He does the boring scripted stuff that "needs" to be done in a tolerable way, occasionally makes some humourous mistakes and works well alongside Rogan.

Miesha seems to be doing well on the desk too.

Hendricks/Magny spoiler

Not happy to see people hoping Magny after he won

Loooooooooool fucking knew that was gonna happen.

Sure the UFC did too; Ronda looks so awkward with her hands up, Nunes blitzed Meisha Tate, I mean it kind of makes a befitting end to 2016.

Edit: Honestly if you lot are surprised by this win I'll be... pfff.
