Wonder if Roy Nelson is going to get suspended for kicking big john mccarthy? he was fuming. It was a late stoppage but no need for that.

Big Foot needs to stop fighting anyway. He's been Ko'd 8 times in 12 fights or something ridiculous like that. Without TRT he's a human punching bag.

I like Nelson, oddly enough, but he deserves a suspension. Bigfoot's head didn't hit the deck after the initial 'KO' that Nelson talked about, and Bigfoot was (somewhat ineffectually), lifting his hands in a guard up until the last shot.

Big John's the best in the business and Nelson has a bad habit of overestimating his own status in the sport. Agreed on Bigfoot needing to step away though. His chin just can't take it, and shouldn't have to.

The Cyborg fight basically looked like a longer Gall/Punk in terms of the gulf. I'm not sure how Holm fares against a killer like Cyborg after Nunes. If she's being straight about just wanting superfights, I suppose Nunes, Rousey, and Tate are all that's left for Cyborg to call it a career.

Those four are all 135 pound fighters though. Cyborg is fighting at a 140 catchweight atm and half killing herself each time just to to make that. She physically can't make 135.

Holm might fight her at a catchweight if enough money was on offer I suppose, Nunes is the champ and having her lose at a catchweight in a non title fight would be daft so little chance there and Rousey when champ said she would only fight Cyborg at 135.  Tate might be crazy enough to take it but I doubt it.

The UFC need to make a womens 145 division even if its just Cyborg killing random people every couple of months. It would make more sense than her fighting at catchweight forever.

Oh yeah, I meant them all at 140. As she said after the fight, it's not about the belt at this point, just making some money.

The 145 division would probably be thin, but if it's their only other way to keep the Cyborg show rolling, they should at least consider it. If she's not a bona fide draw yet, she could be soon enough.

I got the same feeling during Lansberg's ring walk as I did watching the cow get lowered into the raptor pen in Jurassic Park. Credit to her for hanging on for as long as she did but her offence was next to nothing. Her left eye at the end :( At least she won't likely have a harder fight in her career.

Shame Cyborg is sort of stuck at 140 and above with any creation of a 145 division likely in the short-term to merely be there for the sole purpose of her to run through. Until a 145 comes to pass, agree Tate is probably crazy enough to take the fight at a catchweight but fear even with her experience she'd get an absolute tanning. A match with Rousey would be a huge draw, one of the biggest the UFC could put on the table. So many angles to it as well but guess Ronda's only coming back for some quick wins and then maybe a title shot rather than putting herself on the line Vs Cris. Guess it's a match for which we'll just have to wonder what might have been.

Win or lose and he has to relinquish. And win or lose he most likely stays at 155 either as champion or someone unable to cut to 145 any more.

Complete speculation on my part but wouldn't be surprised if Conor pushed to hold the 145 belt until after 205, so he has the chance to call himself a 2 division champion. After 205 he relinquishes 145, no doubt prompting another tiresome Aldo tweet.

Alvarez is a tough, tough proposition for Conor. The business end of 155 is pretty fearsome and don't see a prolonged title reign for any one fighter in the next 18 months or so.

He wouldn't sign for Alvarez if it cost him his 145 belt, he's obsessed with this 2 weight champion. I hope he gets it, Im not sure how this alvarez fight goes. On one hand, Eddie hasn't looked great if I'm honest apart from that flash win over RDA. I know he has some wins but I think Melendez has seen better days, and Pettis was on the slide too.  I think he's very beatable - certainly out of the alternatives...Khabib and RDA would be tougher tests I think. Basically I think Eddie is Conor's best shot at doing it...and imagine if he does, it would be insane.

Totally diminishes the having two belts thing if when you win one, you just get to keep it until you win another.

What  a joke, I won't consider him a true 2 division champion unless he beats Eddie, then goes down and defends his title against Aldo.

I'd love him to fight Aldo again, and would love him to put the Brazilian on his back again.

Until then, the circus for 205 is going to be fantastic, especially with Alvarez's thoughts on Conor.

"I don't know him personally, but thank God he's good at talking because he can't fight for shit," Alvarez told CBS Sports Radio's Tiki and Tierney. "Any real fighter, anybody who knows the sport of MMA, sees the style match-ups that he picks and understands this guy is not putting himself in any danger. He's not fighting anyone who he feels he can lose to."

Build up is going to be f-u-n.

Eddie isn't daft, he was playing the long game, building up the hype in people's minds early, selling a big money fight. He will respect Conor's skills, he just can't say it publically until they've fought. Whoever wins, I expect a hug afterwards.

I reckon Alvarez is ripe for being wound up to fuck. Conor's going to go full heel on him now he has the Diaz humbling behind him. It's going to be a funny few weeks.

Alvarez is a powder keg trying to act calm so it'll be fun to watch. Fighting wise however Conor is going to need some luck to beat him. Alvarez has knockout power, can grind out decisions with wrestling, great on the ground. I don't like conors chances at all.

I think he's got a hell of a shot. I like Conors boxing more than Eddie, he's got pretty great tdd these days, Eddies bjj isn't at Diaz level and he doesn't have that size advantage.  I'm going for Mac here, but it's going to be tough.

I see Aldo has finally cracked and requested his release.

You can understand his frustration, the UFC president laying down the law on one hand and then Conor comes along and basically does what he wants.

Anyway, 205 is one of the most stacked cards ever surely? (Even assuming 3 or so fights will fall by the wayside as per usual.) May even have to watch the pre-prelims!

I love Jeremy Stephens, hes a great guy, I don't know if I can watch him getting spanked. Conor just runs rings round everyone, will watch later.

What a few days for news...and with no injuries, the greatest UFC card of all time. Hope Weidman takes out God's own walknig steroid Romero,  I see Joanna taking Kowalkievic (sorry) out in some style too. What a card.
