Also re Overeem, personally I think if he were to win at the weekend I don't think his best HW claims to would be that far-fetched. Beating Miocic would make it 6 former HW champs beaten in 5 years.

(Which admittedly makes the daft losses to Browne, Rothwell etc look even stranger.)

The party line is, and always will be, that Fedor is the HW GOAT.

Any disagreement with that should result in a ban.

Overeem's lengthy tenure, K1 stints, and change of weight classes means that he's probably beaten a crazier list of names than anyone else ever. You've got: JDS, Werdum, Lesnar, Mir, Arlovski, Mark Hunt, Crocop*, Peter Aerts, Gokhan Saki, Badr Hari, Tyrone Spong,  Belfort, Shogun, Igor Vovchanchyn. I thought he'd maybe fought Hendo, but a quick google suggests not.

Agree on both fronts. The reason Fedor is more credible is none of his wins have asterisks next to his name - i.e. Reem won K1 juiced to the gills, beat Lesnar after he nearly died in hospital, beat Belfort who now fights at 185lbs, fought in Strikeforce looking like some sort of Hulk/Doomsday crossbreed. His record is more tainted than his supplements.

Also Overeem @ 41–14

Vs Fedor @ 36–4

Fedor, no contest.

Jojo looking great (and smoking hot) at the weigh ins...tough test for her vs Andrade, pulling for you Jojo to get it done.  Maybe even challenge for the title in Scotland down the line.

Punk looking good too..super pumped for those 2 fights. Never mind hopefully seeing Browne get slapped up and triangled by Werdum.

He was way too overconfident when he first came out in UFC. His walkout was a giant smug grin that got wiped off his face by a foot or a fist 5 minutes later.

I'm so glad he snapped out of it and is fighting a different fight now. Plus he's a cheater.

Wishlist:

- CM Punk clips Gall and chokes him.

- Eye KOs Correia.

- Werdum puts Browne t sleep.

I am rooting for Punk so bad, having not seen him in WWE, he comes across really well on the UFC doc on Youtube.

Wishlist:

- Punk vs Gall to turn into a 3 round barn burner - it's a spectacle so give us some Tank Abbott level swinging for the fences please!

- Werdum to choke out Browne and make him shit his pants Seagal style.

- Stone Cold Stipe to beat up Overeem the exact same way Liddell did in Pride.

Part of me applauds CM Punk for chasing his dreams like he has, but I still expect to see him get schooled. Wanting to be a fighter and actually being a fighter are different things.

Mickey Gall is legit  in the two fights I saw him in. This isn't some inexperienced fighter who you watch fight and think "meh." Like he doesn't have much experience, but he looks like a natural who can fuck people up. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to be thrust into the spotlight however. It appears from afar that it has affected him somewhat, while CM Punk seems to be bringing an unexpected confidence and swagger feel with him. Kind of caught me off guard because he seems like the nicest guy in all of his videos training and interviews. But then you remember all the shit the guy talked in the WWE and it shouldn't be surprising. He talked so much shit and called the WWE management out so many times, he's not a pussy that's for sure. I'm just not confident it's going to translate into him fighting well or at least fighting better than Mickey Gall tonight.

So yeah Gall will win.

I can't wrap my head around it to be honest, I've boxed on and off since I was 10, I've sparred with Pros at different levels and even some of the guys on the lower levels of Pro boxing can just school the fuck out of me, he must see this going through training right, it's got to be in his head?

"That was a mauling" - Joe Rogan. Sums up Punks fight.

He seems a cool guy and wants another fight but he should really leave it at that. The UFC would have to bring in some total can for him to have even a slight chance. He is just not at UFC level.

That was one crazy main event to end the night. I think schmojo had it right when he said Overeem is always amazing to watch whatever he does.

Fun but rather odd UFC. Alot of the fights fell flat but the bizarreness of the last two fights and seeing the debut and probable retirement fight of CM Punk made it a decent watch.

Did you hear his post fight interview?.  Man that speech really hit me. Isn't that what life is? A beating. He had absolute confidence in what he was doing. After watching the weigh ins no one can deny his belief. But what is belief? Well friends, its what makes taking a beating endurable.

So what does Punk do next?

Go to NJPW and do what he's good at. Gotta respect him for what he's done and he only got this fight cause of who he is and the money/buzz that generates but like someone said, unless you stick him against a 0-0 upset fighter it's just gonna be the same result.

Felt bad for Punk.  Dana has said his next fight won't be in the UFC. I think (if he wants to continue) he'll go on the regional circuit and get experience.

Werdum schooling Browne was superb. He even kicked that lying piece of shit Tarverdyan too. Hero of the day.

Overeem was so smug in the run up like he'd already won then wasn't exactly gracious in defeat (again). The division is pretty open now and it's nice to see the belt finally get defended.

I'll give CM Punk credit for stepping into the octagon, but he was never going to win. Not unless the UFC got the can of all cans to step in there with him. Joe Rogan would easily beat up CM Punk. And Joe's smart enough to know he wouldn't stand a chance against a professional MMA fighter with the advantage of youth.

I thought it was really good. Lots of finishes and drama all over the shop. Not directed at you (or even anyone else on this forum) but it seems like people want to piss on every event that doesn't feature McGregor these days.

Punk/Gall played out like most people expected it to be. It was an old-school fight, for the spectacle rather than the fight itself. Still enjoyable. It's a bit of a catch 22 now for UFC, as if they give him another fight it would have to be against a complete can and would undermine the legitimacy they are so desperate for - but if he goes to someone like Bellator or Rizin he'd still be a massive draw, and they have no issues with freakshow fights.

Otherwise it was nice to see Faber finally lose a non-title fight, he's had some real gimmes over the last few years. To be honest I can't see him being long for this game, he's in a sort of no man's land. He's unlikely to fight for the title again, really - I'd love to see him fight Dillashaw but it's probably not going to happen.

Similarly there's not much I enjoy more in MMA than watching Travis Browne get shown up. I have no idea how he escaped a TKO for the finger thing but the whole fight was ridiculous*, and watching Werdum kick Armin Tamzarian or whatever his fucking name is made it even sweeter.

I don't mind admitting I wanted Overeem to win but it wasn't to be. I really think he missed a trick by not following up with punches when he knocked Stipe down, the guillotine was much the harder option. Was a crazy round though. Fair play to Miocic, he's a really well rounded fighter and assuming it's Cain next, will be another great fight.

* I mean, come on. Come on.
