Thats as bad as some of those nightmare staph pictures you see. TBH it makes Page look more of a twat with his Pokemon shit. He could have killed the guy or left him with brain damage. We have had a death in MMA this year over in Ireland and the Eubank/Blackwell scare in boxing. I know he won't have known how hurt Cyborg was but he could see the guy was fucked up in a heap on the floor when he was doing his post match shtick.

I don't blame Page for a moment. Other fighters would have gone to the mat and dropped a couple on Cyborg whilst he was unconscious - which would have been disastrous.

I'll take MVP trying to draw attention to himself as an entertainer over someone who shows harmful disregard for opponent safety. Especially in a year when it's become clear that entertainers make more money in the sport. I've seen Page all over Facebook this weekend - mostly by non-MMA fans - and the response has been positive for him.

Utterly brutal injury though - hope Cyborg recovers quickly.

The Pokemon shit got Page good press coverage I agree, the red tops even picked it up. I found it distasteful though before even finding out Cyborg got a huge injury. It shows complete disregard to your opponent tbh. I thought he was walking back towards him to check on him but no, it was so his corner could give him his Pokemon props.

Cyborg looks to be very, very lucky he did'nt get severe brain swelling. If he did he would be in a coma right now. The press would be then having a field day with Pages antics.

He's never been that sort of guy, he's famed for walk off / one hit KOs so that's about as respectful you can get to a downed opponent as far as I'm concerned. It's flashy and attention-seeking but if that's what you have to do to get ahead, so be it.

Chad Mendes banned for two years following his recent failed test. He was on growth hormones and you ain't going to "tainted supplements" your way out of that.

That's brilliant. Anyone remember that tweet he put out when Aldo called him a juicer?

Found.

This was Mendes response to Aldo saying he's on roids before their second fight.

I just don't understand why they would take the risk.

Male ego and the burning desire to win. It's endemic in fight sports. Jiu Jitsu's just as bad. We've had plenty of people in the gym over the years who juice and they don't even fucking fight, they just want to be big, strong and dominate other people to massage their fragile egos.  It's no different at the top of the chain, just that you get tested for it there and there are repercussions when it's how you make your living.

The only fighters I've ever given the benefit of the doubt over steroids are Barnett, Tim Sylvia and Mir. Their reasons were never related to performance but due to getting so much shit from pundits/fans about their poor physique - I don't think I've ever seen anyone get as much grief about their look as 'The Maniac'.

Just watching Robbie Lawler - Woodley breakdown on UFC channel.

Lawler's no joke, if you look at his competition in this resurgence, Matt Brown, Hendricks, Conditt (controversial), MacDonald, he's got Woodley coming up. Honestly, if he beats Woodley, he's carving himself into being a really fucking great champion, given his competition, he's getting to that Jon Jones level of beating the who's who of the division. Awesome.

Except Jon Jones only had one dubious close decision win. Though doing what's he's done at this age is absolutely insane.

I'd be quite interested to see him take on Maia. His TDD is excellent, but if Maia can get him down just once, it's a long night for the champ. Magny looks like a real threat too.

To get towards anything resembling a WW legacy, he'd probably want to get some Diazes, a GSP, and maybe avenge his loss to Larkin.

Lawler is stringing together a very impressive set of defences in a highly competitive division, not implying anything PED related but not sure how he's managed this level of improvement so late in his career, unless he was a bit of a dosser and unfocussed earlier, must have been one of those who had the talent but not the commitment.

Holly Holm is starting to look like a one hit wonder - wonder what they do next with her, her style is still too dangerous to feed her to Ronda as a tune up fight, maybe a rematch with Tate in a WWE 'loser leaves town' kind of match up.

Tate and Holm are two of the most well known female fighters in the world and both would still draw way bigger numbers with Rousey than Nunes or Pena. It would be insane to get rid of either of them.

I'm a huge fan of Lawler but he needs to be carefull with Woodley before all the thoughts of Wonderboy or Maia fight. Lawler can be a slow starter and Woodley can hit really fucking hard. With how this year in MMA has gone it would depress me but not surprise me if Robbie got clocked.

I'd love Thompson to become the division's new poster boy. Some outstanding matchups to be had there.

If Woodley gets the belt, that would nicely upset the apple cart - but I certainly don't think he deserves it. It's hard to call him more than top 5 at this very point.

Why is he getting a shot? He has fought 3 times in 2 years and one of those was a spanking by Rory.

Sometimes the UFC pisses me off.

They had promised it for ages, and Hendricks let him down by dropping out..it's seen as the right thing. I think Robbie beats him handily, and then has a war with Thompson near xmas, could be split decision either way but Thompson to nick it.

It isn't the right thing. He's living off the Condit injury as if it was a legit KO, then he somehow thinks Hendricks missing weight = a win. And then stamped his feet until the UFC gave him a shot while more qualified contenders fought around him. He's a whiny bitch, I hope he gets smashed.

Yes, that was bizarre to see. Condit got injured Woodley didn't beat him. Hendricks (who coincidentally can no longer make weight and has a losing record since USADA took over) has completely fallen off the map. Gastlelum can't make weight. That's not a title shot worthy guy by any means. I think unless he grinds out a boring decision it'll end the same way the Marquardt fight did.

Yeah, I read Woodley held out for a title shot. So bizzare to want to be out of competition that long, ain't seen shit from him really. Props tho, he wants it for sure.

Beast of a dude, such a dope physique, I like Woodley in this fight. Has Lawler fought anyone with a build like Woodley? Hendricks is the only person that comes to mind.

Different skillset to Woodley, but yep:

Incidentally, I think the whole thing about Hendricks missing weight with USADA is more about the IV ban than anything more nefarious. I have sympathy, because I think the IV ban is dangerous unless they institute same-day weigh-ins.

More likely PED-related in the way that a lot of the other contenders have stopped using them now because of the testing, making him look better. The day Robbie Lawler fails a drug test is the day I stop watching MMA.

Now he is friends with Hendo and Matt Hughes...

I don't think its a PED 's thing that got him to the top though, I think its the fact the UFC made him fight at 170. His Strikeforce run was at Middleweight and he was in there with huge guys like Jacare, Tim Kennedy and Babalu. No wonder he was so inconsistant there. Now he is at the right weight, has a ton of experiance and a settled home life with a wife and kid. Its amazing to see him come back from a career that looked done at times in Strikeforce.

Why is this spoilt emo idiot doing UFC fight analysis and fight breakdowns?

From what I've read his dads rich, bought airtime for his 'band' which then bombed, and he did a reality show about being a fighter (WTF) and got smashed.

If this is the new UFC I'll look elsewhere for my MMA.
