Definitely a good stoppage. RDA is a beast, and Eddie is a beast, brilliant fight. I could watch those two fight a dozen times, I think. He also legitimises Chandler and Brooks as potential future UFC contenders. Alvarez also never having been taken down in the UFC makes a Nurmagomedov matchup very interesting.

Derrick Lewis was very exciting at times for a big lad - Nelson's chin may be amazing, but I can't imagine he'll be remembering much 20 years down the line :(

Anderson DC is bananas. I feel like we're currently cruising through some kind of MMA vortex, where any old mad shit can happen in the next few days.

Anderson's talking here about not having trained in months. I don't know if he's just trash-talking, or if he's making it clear that this is moneyweight and nothing more. But if he pulled out some matrix shit? Well.... it's worth watching to see.

It's at 205 according to reports (sources say it's LHW) but suspect Silva wills come in lighter than DC - 190-195?

Glad to see Tate Nunes added as the main event, with Brock Hunt a co-main. The women's divisions have progressed a lot in recent years so some recognition on the biggest card of the year is well-deserved.

How many upsets can people see happening this weekend? Can see JJ losing to Gadelha, and really hope Edgar beats Aldo.

DC is going to out wrestle and ragdoll Silva and gas him out.

Yeah Silva's is much older, part his prime. He is smaller than Jones. His weakness is wrestling and even Sonnen (on the second fight) took him down and dominated him there.

This is the Sonnen who got embarrassed by the wrestling of both Rashad and Jones.

Also DC easily ate a punch by Rumble, and survived the five rounds with Jones. And Silva's chin at this point isn't the best.

I see Silva getting taken down and mauled.

Jose vs Frankie even though its for the interim title should be the main.

Not hating on Tate, but she's a new champion and the best thing about her game is her heart. She's a great fighter, but maybe not as worthy as Frankie or Jose (two HOF fighters) IMO. With that being said, Tate is really presenting herself well and I am happy for her. I also wouldn't be surprised if Rousey was ringside.

On this much notice? Anderson will be racing down to 205 as fast as he can! Can't see him being more than a pound under on the day.

Real shame it's not for the belt though. I'd have loved the chaos it would cause. Every division a hot potato. Except 135.

That's fair, Aldo was dominant for so long, and Edgar has a great run going so it's probably the most exciting fight on paper.

For me more about seeing a Woman's title match headlining; it's a strong positive to come out of the Jones fiasco, but yeah mainly for symbolic reasons, not necessarily for the two taking part (although do like Tate)

Does Anderson cut that much?! Thought he would walk around at around mid 190s, so assumed he would be comfortably within the LHW limit!

Agree about the belt, given recent swaps it would have been great to see the strap on the line and the potential chaos.

wow - RDA got smoked, really surprised at the method of victory as Alvarez always looked a bit of a grinder to me (and what the hell was going on with his cup, he looked like he had half a basketball in)

I know Anderson is a GOAT and all that but his chin not looked that great at MW, and taking on DC at such short notice doesn't look a sensible thing. Unless he's viewing it as a nice pay day and a no lose situation (sure he's getting handsome money for such short notice)

So apparently 3 people called Dana and said they wanted to fight DC, Mousasi who he wouldn't consider as he has a fight on the 200 undercard and he didn't want to leave his opponent hanging, Hendo who 'we have other plans for' and Anderson.

These last minute drop outs becoming a great way for folks willing to roll the dice to get themselves back in the mix.

Eddie Alvarez fucking slumped RDA! Hear it connect!? He's been champion in Strikeforce, Bellator, and now UFC. That's an amazing achievement.

Yeah, I see Cormier throwing Silva around for fun, I hope he toys with him whilst he does it (not a fan). I'm actually super happy for DC too, getting Silva in the scrap book is dope. Amazing if you think what the UFC have pulled off here. we lost McGregor and Jones on this card, but we got some dope ridiculous show fights.

I like DC but I really want Anderson to win.

Same!

An Anderson win would be INSANE.

I always wanted to see Anderson continue on at lightheavy. Maybe it'll be the perfect move because of his age too.

Is there a more gender equal sporting body than the UFC ? Can't think of anywhere that even really gives equal billing to women's divisions or events, let alone top billing.

It's the biggest week in the UFC's history and 2 of their 3 events give the women champs top billing, its kind of happened by stealth but is totally deserved and on merit, not some PC ruling or lefty committee deciding it should be so

Another decent card last night

Spoiler

I think JJ is the grittiest champion around, that was a proper gut check fight and the way she wore down her opponent after being on the end of a bad couple of opening rounds was super impressive - her hand speed and cardio are amazing

Amazing, was a bit concerned for Joanna in the first and second, but she had 0 signs of being in a fight on her face going into the 5th. She is nails.

Joanna gets his quite a bit in the exchanges though, but her striking is crazy. It's funny Jon Anik said this after I thought it in the 3rd round but she really reminded me of Cruz, shoulders bunched forward, feet always moving looking for a way in, letting punches go quick, but she stays just outside the pocket and engages pushes it way more. Her jab was just landing over and over in the fourth round. Riding out all of Claudia's wrestling. Great fight, I think probably a contender for fight of the year.
