The drop-outs are so common now they should think about reserve lists rather than dropping fighters in on short notice. Although there's enough fights this weekend that someone else could get bumped up to the main card.

Bloody Elbow is saying that, with a positive B sample, Jones could be out until 2018. You have to think he'd (at least superficially) retire at that point. I don't think the game would necessarily pass him by - he's far too good - but he's missing prime years.

 

I still don't get why they didn't put Alvarez/RDA on the 200 card. It's one thing making them a main event, but RDA's skills really need more mainstream exposure if he's to be a star.

They take 2 samples I believe when testing - if the first comes back positive for anything they inform the fighter then test the other one too to make sure it's a correct result and not a false positive.

 

there are lots of things on the banned list so testing positive doesn't automatically mean somebody is pumped full of roids or testosterone, even things like asthma inhalers can be on the list of banned substances unless you get a medical exemption.

 

knowing jones it's more likely to be something recreational, but not sure on the in and out of competition rules on those anymore

Funny, on the embedded ep Angel posted on the previous page, Jones is dismissive of the interim belt saying he can put it in the bin after 200. Obviously he's not going to say he loves that belt but might be the last UFC belt he ever owns now.

 

Already rumours going around that DC has got a replacement match. If true, and given the recent wave of upsets, expect a new LHW champion this weekend...

It would be interesting if Weidman or Rockhold took the fight. Although I've just realised that it couldn't be Rockhold due to AKA. 

 

Surely it's got to be someone changing weight or and outsider though? Who's handy outside of UFC at LHW? Maybe King Mo, McGeary or Davis, but they'll all be under contract at Bellator.

This would be a huge error. He's arguably the GOAT and could sell a PPV (though it'd possibly need to be Russia or Asia). 

 

Having the consensus best not in the UFC is something that Dana can't abide these days, and hasn't happened in years.

Know what you're saying, but he's a PR and customer liability now and they are trying to ensure that the fighters know the pecking order of things - in the way Connor got pulled from 200 for not attending the press conference

He's also the ultimate bad guy. Mega value there for a promoter, and sports have never shied away from controversial figures. Any organisation that can suffer an idiot like Dana as their public face can suffer Jones.

 

The saddest, and possibly most likely result would probably be Dana using their 'independent contractor' leverage to keep him sidelined forever until Jones launches a lawsuit.

Man, DC looked and sounded gutted. Rightly so, must take so much to get ready for a fight (unless you're Nate Diaz) that having all the work undone by something out of your control is a huge wrench.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think Jon jones would be using PEDs. I always thought he was the most physically gifted fighter to grace the octagon and that his work ethic matched his God given talent. If there was any fighter, a body, a mind that was just born to fight better than everyone else, it was JJ and I thought he was gifted enough and so far ahead of everyone else that he wouldn't need to use PEDs.

 

If it's marijuana, I'd be a little less surprised...especially given jon's history. But still really disappointed in him. This is classic addict behavior, to throw everything away for "that one little high."

 

He needs years away from this game. Everyone can change, but Jon can't do it under these circumstances. It sucks to say this, but I don't think Jon will ever be clean as a fighter. Time and time again he's fucked himself, his family, other fighters, his coaches, the fans, etc.

 

DC hit the nail on the head when describing why he dislikes Jon. Jon has been given more gifts for the fight game than anyone. But he's one of the least deserving people for those gifts

No it cant be weed or coke etc, this is OOC testing, its performance enhancing only. Might be tainted supplement etc like Tim Means or Yoel Romero, so he might, just might have been unlucky.  He''s a dick, but innocent til proven guilty...I am annoyed about it, but at least there's backup and hopefully DC still fights - hes on PPV points here and literally losing millions of dollars if they dont find someone.

the implication at the moment in his latest crocodile tears press conference is it the old 'tainted supplement' line - yeah right, tainted by the fact you got em in Mexico and they are marked up as 'for use on cattle and livestock only'

 

this latest episode doesn't make Jones a villain or bad guy, he's just a liability now. He's failed to make fight night for 3 of his last 4 scheduled fights I read, its not just him he's messing about but the careers of other people who spend a fortune training then don't get paid when this crap happens (and I have no love for DC at all but this isn't right)

no one is offended by the truth, they're offended by being told.   the companies 20 year history is steroid fuelled, minus the last year - and even then, only the ones who cant cycle very well developed the dadbods.  people will be claiming footballers arent womanising playboys next.

 

even on top of that, illegal PEDs are just non approved drugs, while there are plenty of approved drugs - the line moves all the time back and forth. I mean...peoples bodies are not like the people we watch, simple as that.  Even the ripped 6pack playboys from gyms cannot do proper cardio or fight like an mma pro athlete. Its not real, they just intake all this stuff in exchange for being a fighter for a bit. Even creatine is linked with cancer, and thats your staple bulker upper. Like chael said..an ibruprofen is a PED, an aspirin is a PED.  Its fairly likely he really did pop on some supplement.  I mean...look at Yoel Romero, hes a walking steroid but yet hes still technically clean. Lesnar is bad mouthing JJ today but he's even more of a walking steroid than anyone.  Its never as straight forward as people want to believe, we just want goodies and baddies..but theyre all on stuff. All of em. Cyborb passes tests and look at her goddam HGH effects on her face, shes more of a man than me.
