biggest problem with Anik is he sounds like Arnie Pie in the sky from the simpsons.

I like Rogan, not just from his hours of podcasts but as a commentator, he's probably taught many of us who only watch UFC more about fighting techniques and strategy than anybody else.

Same, I like Rogan, find his commentary very inclusive and he clearly is a nerd for MMA. Think he gets the right balance between hyperbole and insight.

Not that others can't do that too but will be a shame to not have him on the mic.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about him generally, but he is a great commentator. I've also learned a huge amount listening to him. Stann is pretty decent, but he's a bit pro sports commentator, very efficient, good technical insight but no real emotion. I think he does footbal commentary as well, and I could totally see that. Joe is much more freewheeling and talks about stuff outside the immediate situation.

Anyway, I am fucking hyped about this weekend, I love watching these two. It's almost a shame one of them has to lose.

Wouldn't be the same without Rogan as I like watching him give goldie shit when he starts talking nonsense.

Bas Rutten would be decent replacement but his knowledge is entirely standup based - this is why fans wanted them as a team since they'd have everything covered.

He is fighting for EFN tonight in Russia and its being shown on Fight Pass. So the UFC have been digging into his back catalogue to hype it on their youtube channel .

He did say on MMA Hour earlier this week he was very close to a deal with the UFC but we have been here before so I'd wait and see.

That Fedor fight was a bad one.

For all his talk of the UFC needing to meet his terms, I don't want to see him there any more. I doubt they care either, unless new owners are fans or want to make inroads in Russia.

He was lazy, slow and fought stupidly against very mediocre opposition. Hands down, giving up his back, and no sign of his former grappling prowess. Just trying to land a big, telegraphed right hand. I don't know if Maldonado had financial incentive to take it easy, but when Fedor slipped the second time, Maldonado didn't try and capitalise again. Could've simply been a respect thing.

We knew two things going into this fight: Fedor would have to be unconscious for a ref to call the fight, and he'd win any decision.

Seeing him out on his feet for so long in the first round made me give Fabio a 10-8. The biggest surprise was 2 Russian judges calling it a draw, which I agree with.

He can't hang with any active fighter in his current form.

Not the best bargaining tool for Fedor that if he wants a huge UFC deal.

He needs to stay in Russia and Japan. I loved him years back in Pride when he was in his prime, he was an incredible fighter then. I don't need to see what someone like Cain might do to him at this stage.

Thanks for that angel. Comedy gold from you as always in this thread.

Back to the UFC, Rory vs Wonderboy tonight could be fight of the year. Whole card is full of decent fights. Will be cheering on Calderwood and Cowboy on the undercard.

I try to be civil with you but you're always so rude, you cant even say anything to you without you spitting snark back. It was a light hearted comment relating to the olden days of cage fighting, where you would get a little guy versus a huge guy, usually in japan, yet you insist on being so humourless about it all. Poor show.

Angel you have posted so many bizarre opinions  in this thread over the years, its hard to tell when you are joking tbh. Saying MM would beat Fedor is probably not even close to the daftest stuff you have come out with.

No interest in engaging with orion whatever he says any more, so lets move along to the fights. Luke Thomas is going with Macdonald over Thompson and Cerrone over Cote.

I gotta say I'm the opposite, I think Thompson is the rising star, while Rory I think might have been in too many recent wars. Cerrone has a clear lack of wins in pivotal fights too, he reaches the top then falters.. I just think Cote might be too wily for him here.

So there's my picks..Thompson by TKO, and Cote on decision. Not massively familiar with the rest of the fighters but I think Letourneau absolutely decapitates Calderwood, I mean its not even close here for me. Letourneau is a beast, absolute nailed on that one I reckon. I like the barn cat too, I see him doing well, not that I know much of his opponent.

We'll see how well my picks go, I just see Wonderboy doing something amazing again and getting a title shot.

He'd have to be killed in the ring to have a fight stopped, apparantly he's president of an organisation involved with appointing judges there. It's a bit sad in a way seeing him like that, Maldanado is about as ropey an opponent as it's possible to get, a human punching bag.

I wouldn't call brawldanado a punching bag. He's only been KO'd once and that was by now heavyweight champ Miocic.

I think if he'd fought at middleweight in the ufc he'd probably have been a contender as who's going to be able to finish him apart from Vitor?

That's kind of what I mean though, he's tough in that he stands up and takes a battering, like you put him in there if you want the other guy to win but not by 20 second knockout.

I get what you mean now, like they wanted to make a Fedor win look competitive but it backfired.

There's talk of the UFC already having lined up Fedor vs Brock but I don't want to see Fedor get smashed by a 300lb sted head. They even gave Brock (who's been caught twice) a testing exemption for the Mark Hunt fight? madness. Have you seen recent pics of him back in wrestling?

Well my picks went well :)   Jojo looked awesome, stuffed my prediction right down my throat..she finished that fight 3 times, what a spinning backfist. Cowboy looked good then took shots at the UFC over his pay, and Wonderboy looked tasty so at least I got that one right.

Holy shit, Bosse Vs O'Connell was magic, well worth a watch if you haven't already.

And Calderwood looked very good too, considering Trouble took Joanna Jedrzejczyk the distance in her last fight; so softly spoken after the fight too. Would like to see Flyweight division added permanently.  115-135 is quite a wide gap between weights. Could add Fly, and even increase Bantam's upper limit to 140.

Main event was never going to match the hype, and was quite a cagey (ha!) affair as both men cancelled each other out for much of it. Really enjoyable card overall.

I knew rory would struggle, he's just had too many wars. He's having problems with repeated nose breaks, and he was under pressure because this is the last fight on his contract before he tests free agency. That negotiation isn't going to go well now either, Dana hates free agency and all those who speak about it, so coming off this loss he's gona get offered the same terms or slightly better, no big jumps.  I can see him debating bellator.

The Calderwood fight had some of the most horrible refereeing I've seen in a long time. It should have been stopped 3 or 4 times over, you could see she was actually concerned about Letourneau in the penultimate exchange. Good sportsmanship but it shouldn't have got that far. Awful.

As mentioned Bosse / O'Connell was great. Main was ok, feel for Rory but I don't think he will ever live up to the hype.

4 events in 6 days in early july! Mental.

I think Rory has lost his edge, as soon as he got hit in the nose he mentally checked out of that fight.

Im just hoping all the fighters on 200 are in bubble wrap right now.
