IF Lesnar somehow survives Hunt and wins, I'd think the rumours of Rousey to WWE wouldn't be far off the mark if Brock came back to the UFC after Summerslam. A trade by all accounts but it seems logical. The fact Lesnar wants back into the octagon and Rousey appears to be no closer to returning says it all. I'm not convinced she can cope mentally with losing her aura of invincibility. That and Cyborg would annihilate her if they ever managed to fight in the same weight class.

This will sound more vindictive than intended but would like to see Rousey come back to the Octagon only to lose again, especially if Tate finally bests her old nemesis. Cyborg Rousey is the money fight if it could ever happen. That being said, Rousey has no really reason to come back to UFC besides pride, and as Marsellus Wallace said, "Fuck pride. Pride only hurts, it never helps."

Not sure she'd fit the WWE right now either other than being a 'name'. The women's division is stacked with some really talented wrestlers built over the last few years as the company has shed the old-fashioned 'Divas' tag. I'm guessing WWE's paymasters and Ronda's ego wouldn't want to see her train for a few years before debuting. She's better off doing movies for as long as she can, at least the physical toll is less than the other two options.

It's so funny how people have flipped from saying that Cyborg couldn't hang with Ronda to the other way around. Nobody really knows anything.

Rousey is coming across as her own worst enemy though. It's a shame if she's lost the confidence to be a killer because her skill set is still scary. How would Cyborg deal with Rousey's judo? Well, she's got some great BJJ credentials, but no sub wins and I've never really gotten to see her ground game on account of her devastating stand up.

That being said, if she is broken, there's room for a stoic ass-kicker character in women's WWE. Like a female Lesnar or Shamrock.

Actually yeah, that's true. Completely overlooked a female Lesnar-type role. Needs a Heyman type to do her talking though!

Think the manner of Holm's victory shattered her aura almost beyond repair, but very few fighters, even Hall of Famers, will retire with a zero in their loss column so Rousey could come back and rebuild her reputation if she's got the desire to do so. Never been a big fan of her (mainly for her persona on TUF) but she's still a draw, and seeing her reenter the picture would be fascinating.

Cannot wait for Jedrzejczyk Gadelha next month. Genuine dislike there, which always adds a bit more spice to things. 200 weekend is going to be fantastic, wish there was a reliable way to watch it live here without going in to work!

That's exactly it, the true mma greats are the ones that addressed a defeat and came back better for it & ultimately avenged that loss.

Taking a year+ out to shoot movies seems a bit daft.

I have to imagine the people saying this never saw Cyborg nearly kill Gina Carano and that dutch bird during her strikeforce run.

Carano was several tiers below Rousey in terms of aggression and athletic status, though she was one of the best available at the time. The womens' standard in general was less to write home about - I recall Coenen being largely a ground fighter who couldn't hack the stand up.

Cyborg goes in strong, but so does Rousey a lot of the time. Rousey has shown more tools to take the fight to the ground and own it there, but Cyborg's BJJ is supposed to be no joke. We've just not really seen it.

I hope the fight happens, and I hope we see both bring their A game. I like Cyborg, cheating and all, but I probably still pick an on-form Ronda as the best female fighter in the world.

I'd go cyborg but in recent big fights I'm 0-3 so probably wrong.

Just been reading the bloody elbow thread about Rockhold bitching about Bisping being unsportsman-like and classless. Hilarious stuff.

Saltier than the Dead Sea he is, Joe.

Salt mining factory-sque is Rockhold, Joe.

Yeah i'm eating up the rocksalt stuff aswell, he's the biggest dick in the division ("anderson silva was not on my level" - he said during fight week), and he gets served a huge fat fist of humble pie. Can't get enough of it. If I was mike I would never fight him again, hopefully he can defend against jacare and they do rockhold weidman 2 at MSG. But if I was mike..never fight this dickhead again and wind him up for the next 20 years.

I'd have been happier today if I didn't find out that Mike Bisping deployed homophobic slurs for the umpteenth public time at the post-fight press conference.

Makes it a little harder to stay on his "I know he was a classless cunt for years, but he's lovely and humble *now*!” freight train.

Still on it though. For now.

So, brock vs mark hunt

What do we think? Honestly, Mark Hunt wins this. yeah he's 42 but he's in the best form of his life, he punches harder than anyone and is very slick with boxing. Lesnar wants to wrestle, he's going to charge like a bull towards Mark Hunt. Lesnar doesn't want to box, he'll go for the take down and ground and pound. The HW is a very different place than 6 years ago and Mark Hunt is a better fighter. Also Hunt has a brown belt in BJJ, I think, he's not totally useless on the ground but that obviously favors Lesnar.

Something tells me that we'll know very early on how things are going to pan out.

Brock definitely has the skills to beat Hunt, and handily if he sticks to his bread and butter, but he's been away for a long time and he may just be collecting a pay cheque.

Hunt is also the hardest puncher out there, and whilst Brock hasn't been properly KO'd, there's many a man who first met that mistress at the hands of the Super Samoan.

hunt already complaining (accurately) that lesnar will have been juicing before entering USADA

What weight will they come in on fight night? One would imagine that Brock is the bigger, stronger guy.

I still see him getting KO'd spectacularly. Round 2.

Agree, hunt, KO r2 walkoff

The road map to beat Mark Hunt is exactly the same as the road map to beat Vitor Belfort; Take them down and rain death. So this could be an easy fight for Brock unless he starts thinking he's the floyd Mayweather of the heavyweight division.

the Brock fight is interesting as its not just a straight wrestler vs banger match up - the thing people often talked about was his frightening explosive speed for somebody of his size, that speed could well be the factor in letting him deploy the wrestling.

that said he's got a big noggin for a headhunter to go after and what makes it a fascinating match up.

Bisping is saying that Rockhold won't be his first defense, and that they need to go Rockhold/Weidman 2 as an eliminator. Which would be hilarious and excellent.

It would also likely mean that we'd get Jacare/Bisping for the title, which means we'd have 4 different MW champs in a 12 month period.

Apparently Hendo wants Bisping again, and that's always going to be a horrible fight for Mike.

the logic for Lisping taking on Jacare is quite sound though isn't it. Weidman shouldn't get a title shot off a loss, so needs to fight an eliminator, Bisping KO'd Rockhold in first so no case to be made it was a close fight, and Jacare kept on winning and has earned it.

would please me greatly to see Rockhold made to sweat, and hopefully lose a rematch to Weidman - no greater payback for his hubris than falling that far

God I hope this is all true. I was listening to Joe Rogan recap the Bisping Rockhold fight. One of the points he makes is how much Bisping wants the Hendo rematch. Apparently Hendos company clinch gear had (or has) a ton of clothing centred around the Randy Savage elbow he did, which must still burn Bisping.

I'd rather see Bisping vs Hendo than Jacare vs Bisping - and yes I feel bad for Jacare but at the same time he's just a very dull boring person, which would be fine if he was ultra exciting but he's not.

This might be the greatest promo of all time in retrospect.

I was looking to see who Dada 5000 will be fighting next and it said he had 2 heart attacks and kidney failure. I was thinking ' well that's the end of that then' but he said recently 'I'M BACK TRAINING WATCH OUT BELLATOR!!'

hendos an arsehole, trash talk is one thing but he continues to hit already KO'd opponents and makes light of it, he did it to lombard too. I'd love to see mike smash the fuck out of him, if he can not overtrain again and retain this new found power.

I find Jacare to be a very exciting fighter, and easily the most deserving of a title shot. I really hope he gets it. I don't have any need for him to cut WWE promos when he's such an all-conquering monster.

The idea that it's only ever 'overtraining' that stopped Bisping having KO power is such ludicrous bullshit. KO power comes from technique and speed as much as muscle, and he's not exactly piling on muscle. My best guess as to how he got Luke is that he knew it was his only chance - the biggest moment of his career, and Rockhold didn't take his defense seriously. A perfect storm.

Hendo's chin is more suspect these days, but I'd be very reluctant to assume that Bisping 2.0 can hurt him. And Hendo doesn't often go to decisions these days.

I'm all aboard the Rory train, and still can't fathom him losing to Lawler twice.

However... Thompson has earned his shot. If Rory's going to win the title off Lawler, it'll need some wrestling. If Thompson's going to do it, it'll be fucking Tekken.

Lots of rumours saying the UFC sale has gone through. News will hit in the next day or two. Dana will stay on in charge interested buyers all wanted to keep him.

Rumour is Rogan has said he will quit if the sale goes through for whatever reason. Many thought he was gonna quit soon anyway. Theres plenty to replace him tbh who I think are better such as Bryan Stann and Dan Hardy.

Rogan's contract is up in August, he spoke about it recently, whenever I've heard him talk on his podcast recently it pointed towards him leaving, he's said many times he enjoys doing the the fight companion podcasts as much if not more than the commentary job.
