not arguing with or defending any of the points you've made Tofu, what is interesting though is that I think the media and the first few female champions are so trailblazing that nobody really knows how to handle it or position it properly. The world is having to get used to female fighters, I'm adjusting to it as a fan, to start with I FFWD thru the ladies fights as just didn't want to watch it, but now am totally adjusted to the idea and really enjoy them.

Ronda had nobody before her who could show her how to be a super famous, mainstream personality and cage fighting champ as a woman. Doesn't excuse her behaviours, I'm just saying that she really is the first of her kind, and the media aren't sure quite to handle it, and neither is she on occasion.

I see it differently - Ronda did everything she could to make WMMA relevant. That included talking shit and general douchbaggery unbecoming of the sport, but great for press and PPV buy. She was the biggest star UFC at the time, bringing new attention to the sport that UFC could only dream of.

For me, Ronda the person isn't all that bad either BUT. She is entitled, bitchy, over-the-top and a huge crybaby. She has the worst coach in the game and praises him like jesus . Her camp is outright lying about her accomplishments and because she is cashing in on the casual MMA crowd she plays along with it.

She is a tryhard. Meaning that she really really wants to put out this "i dont give a fuck" persona, while she tries to be humble and mature so it all blends into some kind of schizophrenic mix.

Plus its pretty disgusting that you think that sleeping with Dana helped her get into the UFC.

I didnt say it helped her get into the UFC at all, of course that wouldnt be a nice accusation if I'd said it, but I didnt. It was on merit obviously, she was a monster in Strikeforce, the UFC were backwards in not signing her earlier. I just remember GSP saying something in French on Canadian TV hinting at it, and a few other places about Dana, he does have a bit of a past, and that stuff came after, if true anyway.

But yeah, the Ronda hype train was due to derail, that tax dodging coach is awful, the dissent in the camp between him and her mother, Travis Browne leaving his wife and being accused of domestic abuse, all the Roadhouse nonsense, posing semi nude for magazines and so on. Even if she was a lovely person, thats a hell of a lot to process, it would derail any fighting career.

For your other questions, I find Aldo quite obnoxious on twitter and I prefer to like a person to support them, Cain I do like but has fought 3 people in about 5 years, so much so that he's not even getting a title shot now (as they cant risk the promotion spend). GSP has expressed himself that he would have to really concentrate hard to make a comeback because he rates Lawler, he's very respectful about the current roster. I'm well aware of his doping comments, and he was proved right. He's been out of the game a while though, its not that easy to just walk back in.

You think Aldo is a wannabe, cmon man even you know that ain't true. One loss and you write him off like that.

Cain made of glass?. Nope, he over exerts himself in training. One video shows him doing leg extensions which is a terrible exercise, the guy just doesn't know when to quit and over trains.

GSP scared of losing?. Seriously this is some bullshit right here. The guy was a champion for several years, he even mentioned it that the mental stress and the doping which made him leave as it left the playing field uneven.

Also I don't understand why you're fascinated with numbers, who cares if X doesn't draw as much as another.

At the end of the day no one is forcing you to watch them, if you're that down and out about it then just quit for a while.

Big agreement. All of Angel's post is angry, subjective nonsense.

If you've fallen out of love with the sport's leading lights to the extent that you're making up gibberish, it's probably time for a break.

Also, the suggestion that the UFC isn't a cut above, based on an undersized Bendo being outclassed, is patently daft. If anything, it's disappointing spending year after year seeing the outsiders simply not cut it in the UFC and seeing UFC also-rans dominate elsewhere.

GSP never said or even hinted that Dana and Ronda were sleeping together. Some troll put up a fake news article that he had on Canadian tv a few years back and posted it to a bunch of MMA forums. No one believed the story.

Bethe said Ronda can't handle losses, and joked that she might try to kill herself after losing to her. Ronda's Dad committed suicide so the comment didn't go down well, though Bethe said she didn't mean to reference her Dad. I think Ronda was justifiably upset and well beyond trash talking.

It clearly wasn't meant about her father which speaks volumes about how self absorbed she became; 'oh yes, all my opponents read my biography and know my entire back story'. It's simply not true.

The reference Bethe also made about, Ronda not going back to drugs. If she was aware of this, at the same time the sad story about Ronda’s dad became common knowledge;

It’s a fair guess she knew about RR’s Dad. Let’s be honest. It doesn’t need a Baker St address to suss that one out. I think this is one of the reason’s her home fans have deserted her in droves.

I think she knew about Ronda’s Dad when she said what she said;  though it looks to have been a kind of playing psychological warfare that has backfired.

I don’t believe said it out of utter wickedness. She doesn’t seem a mean & horrid person. I genuinely think she misjudged what she was saying & the impact it would have.

If she knowingly did I think Rondas reaction was justified then. I'm on the fence still though as I'm always surprised how little some top fighters care/read up on other top fighters; Robbie Lawler is a good example of someone who rarely shows an interest in others.

I am a huge fan of his but Robbie Lawler has always been kinda a nutjob. Dana told a story I think on Rogans podcast when he called up Robbie to tell him he was getting a UFC title shot next fight and Robbie was like "ok, whatever". Dana was saying he had never heard a reaction like it.

Most fighters seem knowledgeable about what everyone else is upto if you follow twitter. There will always be your crazy outliers like Brock, Robbie and the Diaz boys though who don't give a shit.

Looking forward to 198 but I am surprised nobodies been pulled yet given the PED factory that's on the card.

Vitor has been very quiet so I'm wondering if he'll turn up looking like a greek statue again.

Anderson I can see getting ko'd in highlight reel fashion.

Werdum to beat Stipe?  zero clue about that one.

Shogun... retire please. It's just sad at this point. It's like when Crocop kept telling himself he was a heavyweight despite the fact he should have dropped to 205.

Holy Shit the Angela Lee  fight was off the hook. Until the last round was winding down, it was unclear who was going to pull ahead. Excellent flow, grappling, submission, defense, and decent striking, especially in weird scramble positions. I love that the announcers were out of breath from just trying to call a fight that moved this quick.

Candidate for fight of the year.

Man alive. Those comments about knocking the bolts out of RDA's neck make a bit more sense now ha.

I've been listening to some Bas Rutten / Joe Rogan discussions about prime Pride fighters in the UFC. They both seem to agree Crocop would have been a champ had he joined earlier. They also had some surprisingly positive stuff to say about Bob Sapp.

Yeah, it's great to get one in our time zone. Entertaining card, plenty of stoppages. That de Randamie body shot KO. Oof.

Neil Seery is one tough fucker. He was outclassed by Horiguchi completely but he did not stop going forward. What a soldier.

I've never seen a man with bigger forearms. He is MASSIVE. He's sitting at 185 pounds right now. I told him he would smash Alverez and said 'He doesn't stand a chance' Lol.

I had a look at a pic and they do look disproportionately massive - Bruce Lee level nearly. There's got to be some advantage to that.

Listening to the recent Rogan podcast with Miesha Tate, she always came across well on the embedded vids but she really comes across in the longer format.

Hard to believe what she does for a living as just seems so relaxed, genuine, charming and funny. She's the perfect Ronda antidote

Rousey is a typical spoiled brat by the sounds of it. Like Tate, such a determined fighter and has improved a lot over the years, so was good to see her reach the pinnacle.

Anyone watching The Ultimate Fighter? Jerdzejczyk and Gadelha are just about the two worst trash talkers you'll likely to see (at one point Jerdzejczyk gets in the face of a trainer that can't even speak English). At some points I'm not whether they want to kill each other, or they have latent crushes on each other. They get really, really close at points. Oh well, makes for some entertaining scenes amid the light-heavy and strawweight bouts.

I'm actually pals with Lanchana Green who made it on to the show, we both tested the upgraded grappler training programme put together by Barry Gibson (he's done Ross Pearsons s&c for years an writes for fighters only) she's an absolutely lovely lass an a total beast. Have a look on her Instagram you'll see me on there :)

I heard Joanna is coming across as a total nutjob. I like her as a fighter and she normally seemed cool in interviews, so not sure if I want to watch.

She just seems desperate to wind-up Gadelha all the time. At any point when they're in close proximity, she can't resist saying something about how she's going to punch so hard, or beat her so badly. There's no wit to it though, just two ladies that clearly have little time for each other. Shame it's not on the UFC 200 card but should be an explosive match when they finally get to meet again in the Octagon the night before.

Her elimination TKO to get to the house was vicious! Those knees!

Fuck me. What a KO, went down like a sack of spuds. Did not see that coming. I like Miocic but Werdum was so sloppy, just charging in.

Also Jacare! Loved seeing Belfort get soundly beaten. He has to be next in line for the MW title, Romero can go fuck himself.

Heavy shot to win the title. Timber!

Cris Cyborg has a deeper voice than Barry White. Thought the stoppage was right, but Leslie Smith was pretty pissed off. She's durable and it was probably her pride talking but don't think Herdy will be getting a Christmas card from Peacemaker.
