Damn it's good to see Cingano back. Patient and disciplined. That's how you beat a guy who comes in a straight line and tries to impose his will. Lateral movement, going upstairs and downstairs with straight punches and not getting forced into a clinch and the fight turning dirty

I'd love to see him regain the belt. He's easily the most entertaining heavyweight champ the UFC have ever had.

Also got my fingers crossed for Glover to climb back into contention. I'm fairly certain he'd have ended Jones win streak if it wasn't for the eye gouging / general disgusting tactics on show that night - I don't even remember guys in the early UFCs being that scummy tbh.

Yes, the shoulder clinch and the eye pokes pretty much summed up the entire fight.

I thought people were exaggerating how much he did it before the fight, but he really does take the piss. There's a two minute compilation of him eye gouging / poking on youtube. 2 MINUTES... They didn't even allow eye gouging in the first UFC.

I dont love JJ as a fighter, hes filthy. Oblique kicks, eye pokes, hes a tosser.

Machida was taking a supplement with something that was just banned this year, and yet Hendo, mr TRT, calls him disrespecful.  As usual, its all hype.

I'm not the biggest fan of Jones, but I don't get the hatred for oblique kicks. Eye pokes yes, but not those.

As long as they're legal, and effective, he'd be crazy not to use them. I know they're dangerous, but so are chokes and overhand rights.

If they want to change the unified rules, that's fine, but it's not the responsibility of every Winkeljohn student to disadvantage themselves.

Oh yeah, I understand the concern. If they wanted to ban them, so be it - though it seems like it'd be tough for refs to keep on top of if they can't manage eyepokes yet. Not to mention that it brings kneebars, kimuras and the like into question.

The thing with Jones is that he uses kicks for range and dominance. He doesn't throw them with the kind of bad intentions that should warrant this fear. If anything Holm is more of a danger, but most oblique kicks I've seen seem to be deterrent more than crippling.

Oblique kicks aren't that damaging because your articular cartilage is really robust. Sure, a solid, flush oblique kick can break your patella or damage your meniscus, but it has yet to happen in any major organization (that I know of, correct me if I'm wrong).

Turning your leg to the side puts your weak LCL and MCL ligaments as the potential absorption of damage, which obviously will end the fight, possibly your career.

Glover getting the KO and calling out Rumble. omg what a fight that'll be! :D

I think Glover has more power but rumble is far quicker - I can see it being like Carwin vs Dos Santos.

Rashad should hang them up. He's had a great career, won the belt, nothing else to prove really.

Evans is one of the last of the 2nd generation of fighters still around in MMA, in his time he was a very good wrestler who adding some tentative striking to the mix, but against the new breed he's never going to be relevant again - that said Glover isn't exactly new school either, he throws bombs and has that KO power.

Glover v Rumble is interesting as think they both lack for something in their game, but their strengths are very strong, Glover has immense power but isn't the quickest, but Rumble gasses real quick and is often regarded as being a bit soft if it becomes a tear up.

Rashads looked tentative for ages, JJ has his soul in a jar somewhere.

It's so hard because he looks very athletic and capable in his movement. He doesn't look like Dan Henderson for example. He just can't seem to get off offensively. It seems more like he is having some technical and mental lapses rather than a deteriorating body. Hope he can change something and come back.

I dont think hes been right since machida, and I didn overly rate him before that. Hes a brilliant ambassador, but he's too slick with the talk and suits and so on while forgetting to actually be a savage in the cage. I think its all mental, thats precisely what it is. I think hes comfy. If he had no money, no fox job etc maybe he'd get fired up and go out there swinging, instead of just standing there asking to be hit.

Rashad is 36, has had a ton of injuries the last few years and is probably 7 years past his prime. The performance against Bader was sad as Rashad would have beaten him easily in his prime. He would have done far better againt Glover a few years back too.

I think he will retire. He could go down to 185 but with dodgy knees and a bunch of other injuries the cardio to do it won't be much fun. He could still beat a bunch of the average contenders at 205, but is that what he wants to just be a gatekeeper ? I doubt it. He looked heart broken in his interviews since the fight. I think he knows his time is up as a fighter, poor guy.

I'm a bit sad about Rashad's decline too. At one point he was very much the 'new breed'. A natural athlete and great wrestler who could deliver highlight-reel KOs. At his peak, he was up there with any of the then-dominant UFC wrestleboxers.

I still like to think of him as occasionally dangerous but, if we're being honest, the loss to Lil Nog was probably the turning point. I'd still like to see him fight the less relevant, but still loved, fighters like Shogun. Though he's fought most of the rest. Legends Tour!

I know that I'm in a very small minority, but I'd be really interested to see where Phil Davis sat in the present-day UFC LHW mix.

There was a point after the Jon Jones fight where Rashad looked amazing. He started training with hannibal king doing calisthenics and it showed - seemed to have infinite energy etc.

Then his wife left him, he got injured, never looked the same after.

Did he? I just remember a tepid loss to Lil Nog and a scraped decision win over an already fading Hendo. The Sonnen KO was impressive and I genuinely wanted him to kick on from there, but it was probably more to do with Sonnen being old (and possibly trying to come off PEDs and TRT) than Rashad really turning a corner. Shame.

I thought he looked great - very different to the usual Rashad we've seen, and I half expected him to push on at 185lbs after the Sonnen fight.

The next time I saw him after that was some weird UFC training centre vid with cm punk looking noticeably different.

His problem, well fighting problem, is that he's inbetween the likes of Texiera whos still a contender, and the older ones like mark hunt who arent really but they just dont give a fuck any more and throw down.  He needs to stay in the game and just throw caution to the wind, go out there like a wild man, and he'll do some damage, make some money. At the moment hes too hung up on where he thinks he stands in the title picture. Just let that go, start swinging, and he'll be a force again. He's got the talent and the skill, just needs to let go mentally.

Rashad picks up a massive prick in the desert.
