Bisping got unlucky with the timing of some of his losses, I mean fucking Patrick Cote got a shot at Anderson at one point. Thought Bisping beat Sonnen when he came in on short notice too. So did Chael who said he should have lost the dec.

Overeem has re-signed to the UFC and will min event a Rotterdam Fight Night against an unnamed opponent.

I suppose it'll be Cain or Stipe, though I'm not sure I have him as the favourite in either fight. I have to assume that his new terms make it pretty financially favourable for him whether he wins the title or not.

Also, I think he can KO either of them, so it's worth watching whatever happens.

On the down side, we won't get to see UltraReem fighting for Rizin in Japan and getting back on the horsemeat.

I feel like such a hypocrite - I always complain about the lack of skill required to be an elite HW, but when we have a champ who has the best, most diverse skillset I've possibly ever seen at HW, I want him to lose because he's a dick. I should want him to reign forever and make the Rothwells and Brownes look like the clowns they are.

At this point I'm just happy there's a heavyweight champ who fights more than once every two years. I think to even earn a title shot again Cain needs to fight 3 more times without getting injured; don't think the UFC can afford to let him set the division back any further.

Pettis' next fight should be vs Barboza I reckon. Nothing to lose for either of them.

So this is happening. Hi Joe!

On a serious note, 197 is looking amazing. What's the betting DJ ends up headlining?

People are hating on the whole thing, and yes it was comical, but it was also way more fun than watching generic no named UFC fighters decision each other.

Another funny moment was Ken Shamrock shouting 'HE HIT ME IN THE FUCKIN NUTS!!' at the ref lol

The pre fight press conference is also the best one I've ever seen. Even Coker was laughing with his head in his hands.

I was reading some tweets earlier suggesting Kimbo should goto Japan. Have him fight Bob Sapp or Akebono or just some random Japanese pro wrestler. It would be perfect. I miss the freakshow stuff from Pride or early UFC's. Scott Coker seems to get it. The UFC with everyone looking the same in black and white Reebok shite and ten million events a year do not.

Thing is, Pride had both; legit fighters and bizarre matchups. The UFC tries to come across as 'a sport' yet does its own rankings, fucks over the fighters continually, basically lies on a 24/7 basis.

I really hope Bellator takes off. Coker at least has a martial arts background and conducts himself in a proper manner. Dana 'fuckin' White has turned into the thing he said he wouldn't; Don King.

Another quite good but strangely underwhelming UFC card on Sunday night. It's so odd at the moment, because they have so many active fighters some can easily go on a 5 or 6 fight win streak and still be barely relevant in their division.

I guess the point of these FS1 cards is to build them up but then it all looks so artificial when they come up against an established name and get outclassed.

Oh man. This is probably good news for Conor, but heartbreaking stuff.

It's also an opportunity for someone else to get a huge payday, no doubt. With Frankie out, I suppose I'd prefer Pettis. Or Diaz, though he doesn't deserve it. I'm not sure Alvarez winds up looking so great against Mac.

Khabib ready to go? :)

Well that's a kick in the balls.

Presumably any McGregor fight will be non-title ... Cerrone has thrown his hat into the ring (presumably at LW), I would love to see that.

Ferguson and Khabib are fighting in April so guessing they are ruled out. That leaves us Alvarez, Diaz and Cerrone realistically.

Conor's management (and him) need to think this over very carefully - i fully appreciate the entertainer move to fight anyway and try to smoke somebody, but why risk his reputation and everything he's built taking a second rate fight at such short notice

Big risk here for Mac for relatively little reward. A semi-active fighter whose ranking has dropped, and lost his invincible aura to a Bellator defectee.

The only thing Mac could really hope to take away from the fight is the first sub on Diaz, and that ain't gonna happen.

The worst thing is, any non-title Mac fight still holds up two divisions. Oh lordy, they're already showing signs of abusing the golden goose.

Yep. He's gonna have to fight 3 or 4 times more this year to keep everyone happy.

Khabib/Ferguson in April is a legit #1 contender fight at LW, but regardless they will presumably try for Conor/RDA again first - June earliest presumably, so any potential defence would be November/December.

Then you have FW, anyone's guess who he will have to defend against next. Edgar probably shades it but Holloway has a case too, and bizarrely Aldo is still pushing for a rematch. You'd think he'll have to defend at least once this year.

For UFC that's great money, but for contenders there will be a lot of heel-kicking this year.

Link us up, then. I had a bit of a look, but Instagram hurts my eyes.

In contrast to most people up thread, i'm VERY excited about this Diaz matchup. It'll be like a boxing match with kicks and insults, and hopefully some fancy jiujitsu. Even outside of the guaranteed massively entertaining buildup, Nate looked really good against Michael Johnson in his last fight, so it should be a decent scrap in the ring. Conor will win though.

Nate fucked up Cerrone too. He has a top notch sub game as well, far better than Conor. Although he has been totally out classed at times. Like Bendo did to him. that pic above sums up his best offense in that fight, trash talking and middle fingers. Benson lit him up.

I'd bet on Conor and this should be a great fight. Someday he is going to push it to far though. It could well happen here tbh jumping up 2 weight classes against a dangerous guy is some move. It would be a fine statement if he put on a show and won.

The press confernce airs at 9pm uk time today btw on youtube. It should be nuts.

Awesome stuff, Diaz chatting that smack. McGregor gave him props too. Have to say, I think Dos Anjos Vs, Conor would've been a superfight, two dudes at such vibrant stages of their careers, both awesome to watch. Looking forward to seeing this though, Diaz being Diaz.

Brilliant. I also liked how he kept calling him 'Nick' constantly.

Just seen the countdown for Bisping Silva. Bisping looks in the best shape of his career for this fight. It's still totally dependant on which Anderson turns up, mind. Skill for skill, Anderson is light years ahead of everyone still at middleweight - age aside.
