UFC was ok, considering the lack of star names it was an entertaining night. My patience is starting to wear a bit thin with Parke though, he always starts fairly brightly then goes for the clinch for 2 rounds while throwing as little as possible. And he wonders why decisions go against him.

Best bit of the weekend was Carvalho beating Halsey in Bellator. I do love a good liver kick KO, especially from an underdog.

Jesus christ, what is wrong with some people.

Weidman is the Bruce Springsteen of MMA isn't he - this won't make him popular a few miles in from the coasts on both sides of the country but that isn't his demographic is it ? He's a corn fed, growth hormone fuelled USDA approved piece of beef, is funny though that in saying that he's got a touch of the Farage about him, in that he's got a Puerto Rican wife

Fight leaves me conflicted as they both seem like cunts to be honest, if anything Rockhold the bigger one.

Rockhold comes across as the ultra version of the meathead bully jock type that I despised all thru my school life - and that type still has the ability to push my buttons now nearly 30y on ! - would love to see him get his face pummelled

I like seeing all of this kind lose badly (Uriah Faber is exactly the same, but made even more annoying by having a big man attitude in the body of a dwarf, making it equal parts annoying and ridiculous)

Rockhold is definitely a cocky bellend, but the lesser of two evils here.

I like it every time he gets riled up about Belfort KOing him, as if TRT magically gives you pinpoint accuracy on hook kicks.

Christ - each MW arsehole gets me siding with the next...

I can't stand Rockhold for the exact same reasons. He's a privileged surfer twat who used to bully people at the beach; hardly the sort of person you can get behind and want to win.

I find Weidman less irritating but I reckon he'll have a short career as he proper balloons up between camps - reminds me of Hatton.

Dida 500 is the main guy in the netflix documentary, Dawg Fight, about the unlicensed backyard Florida fighting scene - he makes Kimbo look like a skilled well rounded all round MMA fighter. I am reminded about Dana White's quote about Kimbo being the toughest guy at the BBQ.

Bellator seem to really be testing the theory that white collar fight fans don't want slick all round athletes and clothing licensing deals, they want WWE freak shows with stories behind the fight, which itself is just incidental to the build up.

Great card last night.

Glad Glover picked up the win. He's one of those fighters who (if in the right mind frame) could beat Jones imo. He hits ridiculously hard - reminds me of shane carwin.

Belfort looked like a deflated balloon. Still KO'd Hendo but what does that say at this point? Hendo is 45.

I'm aware how pointless both fights are but there's no way I'm not watching both. I'm expecting some proper 90's smack talk from Kimbo.

I can't say I'd ever go as far as to suggest that Teixera ever puts a real dent in Jones, but he's a good, likeable fighter in an increasingly poor division. He also reps the classic Muay Thai / BJJ combo that us old timers love so much.

I've never been more bored than watching Hendo and Vitor circle each other for 2 solid minutes. Hendo's been fighting that same shitty style for years, looking for an H-Bomb, and it's about time it was used against him.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's a Belfort/Anderson rematch up next.

been watching the UFC behind the scenes embedded vids for this weekends card (truth be told find myself enjoying these more than a lot of the cards recently)

just watching Ronda and Holm in training its pretty hard to see Rousey losing the belt - she just moves so much more precisely and aggressively in everything she does, I know Holm has some high level striking but not sure there is KO power there and can't see her holding off Ronda for very long, who throws bombs and kicks and has that judo game they just don't get to train against.

Similar impressions for JJ too, who again looks a level up from her opponent (who I know nothing of I admit so am just calling on basis of what you see in very short training clips)

Rousey was absolutely starched by that kick. If Aldo beats McGregor the UFC will be in big trouble. Both their big draws beat in the space of a month would be catastrophic.

It'll be interesting to see how Rousey comes back from this.

She'll come back and win the rematch I'm sure. She is the best and sometimes even the best lose. GSP got beat by Matt Serra, came back for the rematch and completely destroyed him because he knew exactly how to approach the fight better. I think it'll be the same when Rousey faces Holm again, she'll know what to for and avoid.

Wow, that was Tyson buster Douglas all over again - perfect technical performance by Holm and Ronda started desperate from the first bell and went downhill from there as soon as Holm started lighting her up.

Classic case of somebody believing there own hype too much I suspect, be interesting to see whether Rousey still takes her break or whether she'll want the quick rematch, I'm not sure she is going to handle such a humbling reversal well.

The thing about Serra GSP 1 is that it was a one punch hail mary shot in a fight he was losing. Hate to call it a lucky punch but it was tbh.

Rousey Holm was different as it was just a beatdown from the start. Holm totally outclassed her on their feet, was beating her in the clinch and even took her down. Outside a scramble that led to an armbar attempt which Holm defended well she had nothing.

There will be fingers pointed at her trainer and his game plan, the erratic behavoir of him, her mother and her boyfriend recently, whether she has 'gone Hollywood' and lost her edge. Loads of things you could blame.

I think the main thing is that Holm is just a nightmare match up for Rousey. Far better stand up and cardio than her. Unless Ronda can get her down and armbar her quick she is just going to get destroyed again. Her image as a fighter just took a huge knock as did her celeb status.

reminds me of when TJ dismantled Barao in their first match, Barao could make all the excuses he wanted but just looked like his time was up against somebody who had his number. I thought Rousey was going to flatten Holm and was surprised not just at the result, but the total and comprehensive nature of it. I'm not sure an immediate rematch is in Rousey's interests.

in the embedded vids Rousey looked cocky even by her standards, spouting her own philosophy endlessly to a growing group of hangers on, I was also surprised at her conditioning in the ring, the girls in particular fill out and look a bit fleshier between weigh in and the fight, but even allowing for that she looked a bit out of shape and was clearly gassed after a couple of mins (taking away Velasquez's record of fastest gassing champ in a title fight).

all the talk will be of what Rousey did wrong, but huge kudos to Holm who stayed calm and executed perfectly against somebody considered invincible.

Well that was brilliant ha!

Was getting sick of Ronda and her hoiler-than-thou attitude. Really pleased for Holms after that build up.
