Hendricks is screwed - Dana White says he now considers him a 185er. Its one thing being able to bulk up with muscle (not steak and burger weight he carries between fights) and get nearer that weight, but he'll be fighting younger essentially dehydrated light heavies (like Weidman and Rockhold) that can do the cut, he's just too small & short for that weigh class. He'll walk in at 185 still and be fighting a 200lb guy.

Only seen one, was fucking boring.

Fedor/Nog was boring? That's a new one!

Hunt/Miocic from this year finished in round 5, but was a bit sad at times.

Just saw that both Cain and Werdum have said March will be when they fight. The HW division was on the verve of being its most exciting in years, and it's all been shit on by thoughtless matchmaking and Werdum's supposed laziness.

Barnett's only interested in coming back for a big fight. If they pair him against Andre, you've ruined an exciting title contender's momentum.

fairly dull card up until the main event, which delivered hugely

I'm no fan of DC and think he comes across as an arrogant dick, I was actually hoping he'd lose.

only way I could see him winning was a grinding 5 round mat based dull wrestling match so seeing him essentially out grit and out slug the guy with all the tools to win that kind of matchup makes me have a lot of respect him for him. huge kudos too to Gus but again he comes up just short in an epic title fight, DC took some massive knees and shots and simply refused to buckle, I had it 3-2 on rounds to DC (the judge giving it 4-1 was nuts). proper champions performance and he deserved to keep the belt.

I think the fight DC had with Jones toughened him up massively and will be interesting to see what happens if/when Jones comes back.

I thought Gus won, but I need to watch it again. The boxing on the outside looked way more effective than DC's series of clinch, uppercut - same way he got to Jones , it was tremendous in that it was so close. Gus is a bloody amazing competitor.

Excited for Jones's comeback; it'll be biblical. Guy posted a video on Instagram after the fight. deleted shortly after but it's on the net.

After watching Embeded, really don't think much of Luke Rockhold. Seems to have the same air of douchebag Cormier possesses at times. Bunch of beasts at AKA though, no question.

it was a close fight with Gus getting a couple of surprise takedowns, I had it 2-2 going into the last and thought DC won that comfortably (as comfortably as a no knockdown round can be)

DC outstruck Gus by quite some margin and was also going forward - much harder to impress the judges when you are on your bike and retreating as much as Gus was. Those uppercuts from DC in the clinch were nasty and making a total mess of Gus' face, can't question either guys heart.

I'm also very impressed with DC's conditioning, for a guy who doesn't look supremely conditioned and chiselled he was the fresher looking fighter in the championship rounds

I thought DC won. Gus had his moments like the huge knee but was eating far too many punches the whole fight.

Corrogate I disagree on the clinch work. Cormier smashed his face in with those shots. Gus was eating 5-6 uppercuts in a row at times.

I do agree that Luke Rockhold is a total dickhead. He comes across like a frat boy douchebag.

Cormier tends to have a sense of humour about himself, making fun of his own weight and love of fried chicken and cakes. I can see why some might not like him because he is cocky but I think his self depreciating humour tends to balance things out.

Seen the result but not watched the fight yet. Really hope Gus doesn't take the loss to heart like last time. Apparently he suffers from depression badly which is daft as he has nothing to be down about - stud top 3 fighter in the UFC who controversially lost to Jones.

All the previews were bleeting on about this Northcutt lad. Not sure what the fuss is about.

Northcutt was like a child prodigy in traditional martial arts. Won everything he could. Has been training MMA since he was a kid too. Makes his UFC debut at 19 with a bunch of hype and shows no nerves. He looks like a male model too so mainstream media will love him. Could be a super star if things work out for him.

There was no way that DC didn't win, but Gus definitely impressed. Whilst I had it 2-2 going into the last round, I also don't think that the 4-1 judgement was unfair at all. Rounds 3 and 4 could have gone either way, and maybe should've been called as draws.

Gus did spend far too long on his bike, and seemed to have very little for DC's clinch uppercut game. I have no idea why he ate as many as he did, as often as he did. Being on a 2 fight skid means that he really should get a gimme for his next outing. Maybe Rampage?

Decent win for Bader, but it was a crap fight. I do wonder if Rashad even wants to fight anymore.

Pains me to admit it but Bader's boxing looked great. Maybe that title fight wouldn't be as ludicrous as we were all thinking a few months back...? I dunno where Rashad goes from here. To be honest he's looked tentative since the Jones fight, it doesn't help that he is so one-dimensional.

I am coming round to DC, he was much more entertaining than his usual fare and showed some humility post fight for a change.

That's not how depression works.

That kickboxer going against Fedor has like 47 kick boxing wins right?

Turns out TJ Dillashaw has left TAM, sort of, training in Colorado. That thing's we've been hearing about Ludwig from Faber recently have been insightful, but Dillashaw seems good with TAM still, posted about a podcast last night.

  • 2 weeks later...

The card for Dublin on Saturday night is falling apart. Main and co-main both off. Particularly raging about Duffy v poirier, was really looking forward to it.

Not sure about whether to get a refund now - I'd probably still go, but the guy I was going with is a donegaler who was going to see Duffy, and he reckons we should get our money back. What to do?!

Wish I'd gone to bamma when it was on now. Would have been a much better deal than this!

To be fair to MacGregor, he's being a full company guy by talking about the event on Twitter.

He's incredibly sharp - and can even promote events when he's not on. The stirring he's been doing between Faber and Dillashaw has garnered more interest in that fight than either could manage on their own.

It's still a card that's hard to maintain interest in though.

This weeks TUF was awesome for that. Conor just trolling Faber something rotten about bringing in TJ as a guest coach. Calling him an idiot for trusting him and that he is a snake who will backstab him. One of Team Faber goes " I bet he won't talk shit when TJ gets here". Conor of course ramps it up even more when TJ gets there. Blasting Tj for turning on the guy who trained him since High School for " the guy who just holds the pads for a week before a fight".

Decent fight on the show too but a must watch for MacGregor pissing off Faber, TJ, Team Faber and all the Alpha Male guys.
