Hendos 8-7 in the UFC and he's fought basically everyone. I do wonder how much his PED use is going to effect his legacy now though. It doesn't seem to have effected randy coutures but he got out before all the bans.

Yeah he was born in America. His father is from Mexico. He is proud of his heritage and his father so if he waves the Mexican flag I don't see a problem. There is alot of arguements about this though between Americans, Mexican-Americans and Mexicans. People coming at it from all angles. Reminds me alot of what De La Hoya used to go through.

Werdum knows this and is just trolling Cain. He speaks Spanish better as well and is using that to further put the boot in.

Card looks really good tbh and great to see Cain actually fighting again. Should be one amped up crowd as well.

card looks really good but watching these embedded videos I think it may be the most charisma free card in history - the fake mexican thing was a throwaway comment by werdum that he was apologising for in the next segment, see more bad blood between people in my office most days

Cain doesnt have much charisma I agree but I want him to destroy werdum. Can't stand him.

Hope he can do to werdum what he did to dos santos over 5 rounds, but there's no way Werdum has the heart to stay in the fight that long though.

epic main event - I've never been the biggest fan of Cain and always thought he's been talked up a bit above his place in the order of things by the weakness of the division in the UFC (especially in this thread)

never expected Werdum to take him apart like that though, it was a brilliant performance and I don't think there was any time in the fight that Werdum in real danger

I will though concede that ring rust and piss poor altitude prep are probably a big factor in the gap between the two, and would expect a pretty quick rematch closer to sea level to be a closer contest (assuming Velasquez doesn't get injured and miss another year or two).

rest of the card was a bit meh, but the young flashy guy with the kicks looked a bit interesting in the second fight

Totally agree. Rematch at the same altitude is needed. Werdum spent 7 months out there. Cain spent two weeks. Pure idiocy on Cains part really, he was done after the first round cardio wise. Also plays a bit into the fake mexican thing considering he spent so little time there while championing himself.

It's a good outcome though, as it proper shakes up the heavyweight division!

Kelvin Gastelum annoyed me. He won but there's no way on earth he can compete against the better 185lbers. He says he's too big for 170lbs which is total bullshit. He needs to get in proper shape, he's got a spare tire half the time.

Werdum said he was there for 34 days, Cain for 2 weeks. I'm amazed that a guy whose whole reputation is built on conditioning prepared for such a major fight in such an amateurish manner.

I don't agree about an immediate rematch either. Cain has only beaten Bigfoot and JDS (repeatedly, admittedly) in the last few years and this is the first time in ages that the division seems relatively open. He's probably going to be out of commission for a while now anyway so I reckon make JDS/Overeem and Miocic/Arlovski and give a title shot to whoever looks the most impressive. If Cain wants to get back on the horse sooner rather than later then let him knock some sense into Rothwell. Sorted!

I'd like to see that but think they will go immidiate rematch again. Just because the UFC have been doing that the last few years if a long running champ gets beat.

Great main event last night. Werdum was sharp and better prepared. Cain did not really look like the Cain of old though. Don't really want to make excuses for him, as many MMA journos and people on twitter are. He himself said Werdum fought a great fight and was the better man at the post fight press conference.

Think you're right. In my mind I was thinking further down the line as I reckon Cain will destroy whoever they put in front of him next.

JDS makes sense for Werdum given the first fight but it'd setup Cain JDS 4 and nobody wants to see that yet.

I reckon give Arlovski a shot. He's won his last five, is a former champ, plus it's a fresh matchup. :)

Fantastic display from Werdum, Rafael Cordeiro deserves a lot of credit as he's transformed two Elite BJJ champions into absolute demons on the feet. Loved the fact he got the sub as I'd had a debate with a meat head at training that BJJ isn't effective in MMA anymore :)

Amazing showing by Werdum. The second title fight in a row where he's weathered a rough opener to come back strong and dominant.

For people suggesting that this exposes Cain in any way, I really don't think that it does. The Cain we saw on Saturday was tired after a single round, and not the high-pressure cardio monster that we know. He was terrible in the second, with his weak little 1-2-leg kick combos. I hope he returns to being the beast that he was, we'll see.

Werdum's an excellent guy to hold the belt though, as he's veteran enough that there are several stories ready to go: JDS 2, Overeem 2, Arlovski 2. Outstanding.

Glad Alvarez got the W. It was close, but I had him in rounds 2 and 3, and he really needed to win to avoid being another imported bust.

Cracking fight from Rodrigues and Rosa, too!

Bellator seems to be slowly turning into Strikeforce which is brill!

Some great fights (amazing comeback by pitbull) and the main event was exactly the sort of ridiculous spectacular the UFC used to be before over saturation. Fun show! :)

can't fathom why a channel would even be on air now that is SD only (unless they are some classic old movies or tv shows nostalgia thing)

JJ is pretty savage, both her and Ronda bring a level of intensity into the UFC that only a few of the blokes match, she's very impressive.

Yeah I've really enjoyed Bellator of late (well, since the reboot and getting rid of the weekly shows). I don't mind circus freakshow main events if they are stacked underneath and that's exactly what they have done. As you say, Pitbull/Weichel was great and Chandler and Strauss always bring it.

Also the September Dynamite collabo looks amazing!

Joanna was excellent - I hope she can add some legitimacy to the belt after the disappointment of Esparza.

I don't think that the Bellator main event was authentic though. The ageing Shamrock (with negligible commercial future) got to briefly display his grappling prowess before being laid out by Kimbo, who can bring some eyes to the organisation for a bit longer. You'd have to be trying not to win to fail on the RNC like Shamrock did.
