Soz guys I gotta whack this in here, just reading the comments on Diaz vs BJ Penn reminded me, you know GSP has been on Joe Rogans podcast talking about blacking out and being abducted by aliens?

Did anyone see Diazs pic on Twitter of him in an alien mask saying with the tag line Where you at George? Funny as.

Well I stayed up live for that. Fell asleep during the prelims, set alarm for 2.50am.

Parke vs Tibau was a test of sleepiness for anyone staying up, every time I see Tibau fight I cannot believe his fight record, but its obvious every time why he never gets too near a main event, just boring and can't finish.

Uriah Hall I cant get behind, for such a huge guy he's a bit of a drip, and his after speech was wildly inappropriate, you could see Rogan was very uncomfortable. Sure, lets let a black athlete talk about how cops aren't all bad, and the Ferguson incident on your high profile Mcgregor showcase card.

Nice to see Bendo on the wrong end of a decision after his ridiculous run of razor sharp decision luck, he seemed visibly shocked at the judges call. I don't hate him of course, it just seemed a little bit of irony to see him complaining. Neither did a great deal of damage, it was an ok fight, nice payday for Cowboy, Benson needs to really look at his damage output. He does very little in 3 rounds, as technical as he is, he's not much of a threat.

Mcregor...well..he did ok. Siver wasnt really a challenge, he's just too small, but he even rocked Conor a wee bit. I think Conor looks very slight, he's tall but that is not the body to trouble Aldo. I think you need a Mendez type, with just an extra bit of composure and a bit better striking than the 2nd fight. Conor is just all wrong to face him, he's little, he'll be leg kicked to death. Any of his fancy Taekwondo kicks will result in a takedown, or a huge inside leg kick from Jose. Jose is built like a little tank, he's compact, packs monstrous power, leg kicks that would drop trees. I don't think Conor survives 2 rounds.

Id go so far as to say he's reached delusional levels now, he doesn't even look when being interviewed. He's like a wrestler, he talks at people, not to them. Spouts his nonsense, surrounded by his entourage of yes men. Genuinely believes hes unique and special friends with Dana and the Fertittas, rather than simply this years cash cow. He's getting more and more vulgar, the promo material at the start of the Fox show had Rogan genuinely comparing him to Ali. 4 wins and some wrestling patter and now he's Ali? Please. You could tell Edgar (in the studio) wasn't overly impressed either.

I see genuine glimpses of Conor being ok, like when he met Cowboy backstage at the open workouts, but as soon as there's a hint of a camera near him, he becomes a colossal wanker. Calling himself the pound for pound best, honestly. Its getting harder and harder to swallow

I read the text summaries this morning and watched the post-fight.

I can't stand Conor - his talk is fucking whack I feel that if you think he's entertaining to listen to you must be a dimwit. It's not like Chael, who was funny. It's one thing to say you're gonna do this or that and do it, fair enough, but to carry on and on and on like he does.

And his fans, his fans are fucking deluded. I hope Aldo puts his fucking fist through the guys face, batters him to a pulp then leaves what remains up to Mendes to do the exact same. Grade A tosser.

Going by the fact that Siver was able to hit a couple of takedowns (not that they were meaningful) I feel that McGregor has a decent chance against Aldo but would have a harder time against the likes of Mendes or Edgar.

No matter what happens, he's not going away anytime soon and is a breath of fresh air in an organisation mainly filled with colourless fighters.

McGregor is fucking brilliant. His fighting style is unusual as while he's able to fire off some unorthodox kicks and punches he leaves himself wide open for his opponent to land. He's sort of reminiscent of the boxer Naseem Hamed. I'd love to see him beat Aldo but I'm concerned he could get schooled and be left immobile early from leg kicks. The UFC needs this bloke to do well though. He's one of the few characters in the organisation.

This.

In the last five years they've lost Wand, sonnen, liddell, randy, brock, GSP, BJ Penn, Tito (I can't stand him but I do like seeing him get destroyed), the list goes on and on.

Conor is one of the few personalities in the UFC.

Macgregor us doing everything right - the number of people in this thread who want to see Aldo wreck him confirms that.

I definitely agree that Mendes or Edgar pose a bigger threat to his style than Aldo - Conor's been carefully protected from elite wrestlers. Whoever said that Conor's style is an easy match for Aldo is crazy though - we've seen Aldo walk through every other style, this has as good a chance as any. He's so fluid - he reminds me or both Machida and Jones.

Looks like he probably doesn't have much of a ground game, the Siver finish was weak. But it was only fair to give Siver a quick way to get it over with and go home.

I'm surprised they're rushing into the Aldo fight so soon. If he loses (and he almost certainly will IMO) that's the golden goose dead. They could happily get another couple of gimme's out of him before that.

Better to get him in whilst the hype train is pulling the most momentum - get the money in. No question that PPV is gonna pull serious numbers but it is mental. To think he just fought the No.10 ranked guy in the division and is going straight to a title shot (though if I RC Conor was ranked higher than Siver?)

They had a bad year in PPV in 2014 so they're going all out on big fights now, matching him with Siver was a well calculated risk showcase fight, and I cant blame them. Conor is legit, we all win with a big fight. The build up for his title shot is going to be insane. Should be some huge fights in 2015. Silva Weidman is probably going to happen, GSP returning to a title shot against Lawler possibly in summer, Nick Diaz should get another "fun fight" as long as he does ok against Silva. Lamas Mendes should be a cracker, hopefully Dodson can come back and have a crack at Mighty Mouse. DC's next fight should be interesting, Cain finally fights or gets cut, Pettis is looking to be more active. Could be a vintage year.

I thought McGregor did everything he could there, dismantling a solid ranked fighter in spectacular style, agree he did open the door a couple of time on take downs and also got clipped, but he seemed to have complete arrogance towards anything Siver could do.

I don't know who coaches him or sets his gameplan but you'd hope he'd be a touch more cautious against Aldo in terms of less silly spinning kicks so early.

His body composition is a bit weird, he's got massive legs and a very skinny torso - you'd have to think a kicker could get at both of those and give him trouble - but he does seem to carry destructive power in both his kicks and striking. He's worth a title shot and its a fascinating fight.

Not much mention of Cerrone, I thought Henderson had won that easily and can't believe the 2 takedowns accounted for that much, but it was unanimous. Not sure what I missed in terms of landed attacks but again Cerrone seemed second best. Did he win simply for walking forward for 3 rounds ?
