Weidman's opponents (that I know of) have all been solid, but Vitor's gotta be his toughest opponent (on paper) after Silva surely? Easily the most dynamic, right? I'd be tempted to put Machida in but I don't think he stacks up well against Vitor locked behind the karate.

Vitor's strongest asset is his aggression, especially coupled with his strength. Both of those things are affected by TRT use, but how much? We'll see.

I think that Machida's a much more complex opponent than Vitor though. I'd love to see the two fight. It'd be like Yin and Yang, or Ken vs Ryu.

I'd love to see Anderson/Weidman 3 if Anderson took out some of the new breed like Rockhold and Jacare en route.

Instead of bringing him back as an old man who is being done favours on accounts of his box office value, I'd want him to come back and answer his critics with some dominant, grass-roots performances.

Experience tells me that not many regain that hunger late in their careers though.

Me neither, but he's strong and I feel like Anderson's diminishing. Although the two Weidman fights are the only reason to think that, so I'd like him to return and remind us that we're getting carried away with news of his demise.

Agreed. Can you imagine him carrying on after getting destroyed by Weidman again?

Plus he'll have 3 loses on his record to a guy he could have beat in his prime. It'll take all the shine off a great career - exactly the same as Penn when he carried on, and Randy when he tried to fight Machida.

Can you imagine if Randy had retired after the james toney fight? he was on a 3 fight win streak.

Instead he became a highlight reel KO that will be played for the rest of time.

Yeah by the looks of things it's gonna be who comes out looking best out of Hendricks/Brown and Rory/Lombard. Hopefully this incentive makes the latter two really go for it, I like them both but I do have concerns that could be a bit of a stinker.

Also, read yesterday that Jones checked out of 'rehab' after one night. He's cured! It's a miracle!

Same. Conor laying it on a bit thick and siver hasn't been promoted at all - so you'll give conor a title shot off siver who you won't even promote and has never been a title challenger???

At welterweight dana said some guy I've never heard of will get a title shot if he beats tyron woodley. WTF. Didn't Woodley get smashed by Rory Macdonald?

Total shambles.

UFC's Twitter feed has been nauseatingly McGregor-centric over the last few weeks. If you were new to mma you'd assume this kid is the reigning champ, but nope - he's the #5 featherweight. Also, as mentioned earlier in this thread I think, the fact Bendo/Cerrone is playing second fiddle to that this weekend is pretty ridiculous.

I get why the Cerrone fight is second on the card as it was a last minute deal and all the promo material is geared towards selling an Irish fighter in Boston.

There is a good 2014 review of the UFC showing on BT Sport at the moment, makes you realise that whilst there has been more dross with the increase in cards this year there was still a lot of good fights spread amongst them.

Even before Cerrone stepped in, it was Alvarez/Bendo, which is still a big fight. But MacGregor is something else. He's marketable beyond titles.

That puts him in the same, very narrow, category as an Anderson, a Diaz, or a Faber. I can see why Dana would be treating him well.

In the fight, I'm rooting for Siver. I'm a muay thai guy, and I love his dedication to the spinning back kick. I think he's going to prove to be a slow, sturdy, flat-footed tank in front of Conor though. As a style matchup, if Conor beats Siver, I suspect it'll be quite spectacular.

hard to see Siver beating McGregor, all the embedded vids just highlight how slow and plodding and muscle bound Siver looks, McGregor should be able to light him up at will - of course the puncher always has a chance of landing one on his whiskers but seems a big outsider.

McGregor is a dream come true for White & the UFC, a charismatic talker who brings with him a huge fanbase that plays in both the US and Europe - Chael Sonnen always goes on about good fighters who couldn't sell out a phone booth who moan about not getting a shot, he says you earn your top of the bills and title shots in and out of the ring, its not just about the fighting. I agree with him totally.

Really hope cowboy gets another big win, love his attitude to fighting and training - he just seems such a cool bloke.

I love Cerrone the fighter but there has been all kinds of weird shit said about him behind the scenes, buried by the UFC.

UFC fighter Bobby Green says Cerrone was drunk, being racist and fondling women who were queing up to sign autographs and when he called Donald on it he was like "who gives a fuck what these dudes think I'll knock them out if they complain". Meaning those womens boyfreinds and husbands.

I remember reading a story a few years back about he and some of his buddies locked some UFC fighter in a room and went at him verbally abusing so he would snap and cause a fist fight. He had some punch up with Marcus Sursa backstage at a show for whatever reason as well.

I like the guy as a fighter and Dana adores the guy because he will fight at the drop of a hat, but theres been plenty of stories about the guy being a massive dickhead over the years.

ButCerrone live with three black guys, and is also best mates with JJ. I don't think he's a racist at all.
