Frankie Edgar has been fucking up Dana's plans for years now it's brill ha. xD

He was in superb shape too. :)

The UFC really needs to start stacking it's cards like the old days. Just read they are down 40% on last year. Not surprising considering how thin there last like 20 or so cards have been.

Remember the days when you'd get six good fights on a single card?

Seems a distance memory now. :/

Frankie is a beast. I think he nailed it in his post-fight interview, he's still improving. At this stage, I think he would murder most of the top ten. However, I suspect that he won't get a title shot next. His last fight with Aldo was only something like 3 fights ago so we might still see McGregor take on Also before Edgar gets his rematch.

I hardly watch any UFC anymore. They've expanded far too quickly without having the roster to back it up. They've got what they deserve. I'm all for expanding mma but the current UFC have got it all wrong.

I was a huge MMA fan four or five years ago, but bar the odd exceptional fight, it all just blends into one for me these days. I've totally lost interest to the extent where I couldn't even tell you the names of 75% of the fighters in the UFC now. The way I feel about Metamoris now, is how I used to feel about the UFC. A few events a year - something to really look forward to and get the mates from the gym to come round for.

Absolute rubbish, i know what im talking about. Im no super nerd but ive never been absurd in my predictions. Aldo will crush frankie again, he's just too small. Tenner on it, I take aldo you take frankie. Put your money where your mouth is.

I'm concerned about your literacy, bearing in mind that you seem to think I said that Edgar would beat Aldo. Nobody sane would bet against Aldo at 145, but to describe the fight the way you did is "Angel-grade buffoonery".

thats all I needed to know

I'm not completely sure there's a human alive with a longer list of things that they still need to know.

Ok, I'm in. I'm such a sucker.

£10 says that, in the next month, you make a proclamation about an mma fight (or fighter) that sounds like the ramblings of an insane derelict.

(If I ever become a 'Forum Somebody', please take the time to insert a bread knife into the centre of my brain.)

I'm not even sure that a rematch would happen. Edgar's marketability hasn't increased in the last year, and Aldo's been chasing the big money for a while. The big money is the MacGregor fight, followed by Pettis/whoever at 155.

Edgar's a risk to making that money and, as an already defeated opponent, Aldo might (wisely) ensure his prospects aren't compromised.

145 becomes an absolute bear-pit if Aldo moves up though, which would be excellent.

I agree its a macgregor fight probably being made after january, the swanson result probably solidifies it. Uncle danas perfect excuse is that frankies already had a go, and he likes making "fights the fans want".

Im not sure if aldo will move up, I think he wants to finish his career at this level, im sure ive seen him say as much in interviews.

Right now lets do an agreement, you only put my back up with this "you talk unmitigated shite" stuff, which anyone would react badly to. So do me a favour and dont be so dismissive of my opinions, and I wont be rude back, so then we can be civil. We're both interested in the sport so id prefer to discuss it in a friendly manner.

I swear I once had a bet with Angel about MMA that I won and he never paid out on. It was years ago and I can't be arsed looking back about it. I think he said Machida was unbeatable or some rubbish.

He does still post complete shite though.

I do. I love it.

Aldo wants the dollars, and he's also been lined up for a Pettis fight in the past (though I can't remember if it was at 145 or 155).

If he beats Conor, Dana will probably pressure him to move up so that Conor can be king of the 145 heap, we can have a superfight at 155, and Aldo can clean out a new division. If Aldo wants big cash, there are worse ways than being a superfight-winning, two-division champ Hall of Famer.

In that scenario, Faber becomes relevant again too if he decides to go back up to 145, there's another big money fight for Conor.

I thought Frankie looked in incredible shape for the Cub fight, the best he's looked in years imo - he looked drained in the Aldo fight - but I'd like to see connor fight aldo first and frankie fight another contender; Edgar is the more deserving fighter but lets be real here, of his last 10 fights 7 have been against the same guys in rematches. Let him fight mendes. I'd actually really like to see that fight considering they both look almost identical.

This weekend then Hendricks vs Lawler, Pettis vs Melendez. Get your predictions in!

I'm going to go with both champs retaining their belts, I'd love Lawler to win but think Hendricks is going to get his wrestling game going early doors. On a side note I'm now a fan of Brendan Schuab due to the fighter and the kid podcast, be amazing if he could upset Travis Browne but it's a tough fight! Never know though :)

Same as yourself really, want Lawler to win, but think Hendricks will try to outwrestle him - especially if he has no injuries going in this time. Looking forward to Pettis/Melendez very much - been too long since either of them last fought. I think Browne will KO Big Brown tbh. Tony Ferguson vs Abel Trujillo should be an exciting fight too.

I see Faber is headlining another undercard against Francisco Rivera (who?). His career is in a bit of a weird holding pattern since Dillashaw won the belt.

Want Lawler to win as he has fought four times this year while 'the champ' (who he beat the shit out of in the first fight) has been off injured. Like tec I can see him wrestling (everything he said pre fight indicates this) and picking up some weak decision.

Damage done it should be bah.

Honestly no idea about Pettis vs Melendez, but if I was going off who I think is actually the tougher fighter I'd pick Melendez.

I'm picking Hendricks too - Lawler's had an amazing resurgence, but I think he's reached his ceiling. I'd love to be wrong, but Hendricks is a tank and Robbie has a lot of miles on the clock.

Browne seems an easy pick against Schaub, he's certainly beaten better opposition. Would've quite liked to have seen Overeem/Schaub, based on how far the former has fallen.

Pettis/Melendez should be great fun, and not easy to pick. Powerful top control against the most active guard in the division. As much as I don't like Nate Diaz, I'd love to see him against Pettis in a meeting of styles. The 155 division is quite open, and this is Pettis's chance to prove doubters wrong if he can pull out a dominant win.
