Have a look at the vid on Vitors instagram from today. Give that guy some TRT please.

Yeah, that was my point, ckny intially reckoned fans wouldnt want a TJ/Renan rematch because it was so one sided before, just like Shamrock/Tito was and people still wanted it again and again

Ah my bad. I just looked at the other example (JDS Cain) and thought you meant the outcome would be different.

I agree, he still has power but just look through his instagram. It's like he's aged 10 years in 2 months without trt. He's got 'roid belly' and lost a fair bit of muscle. Look what happened last time he was like this when he fought Anderson. He got kicked in the face. We also know Weidman is basically made of granite.

Alvarez is now officially a UFC man. I have mixed feelings about this: I think his best years have been squandered, and his loss to Michael Chandler lost a lot of his lustre.

His opener is against Cerrone, which is an odd choice. I like both fighters, but both are two fights from contendership, and Cerrone is dangerous enough to derail the Alvarez hype train.

I hope he comes in and does well though - Cerrone's job is never at risk, and the fights Eddie could have with Melendez or Pettis are long overdue.

To be honest Cerrone is looking so impressive at the moment, UFC always seem to measure it just about right when bringing in top guys from other organisations. You don't want to start them too high (risks alienating the rest of the division) or too low (if they lose to the can fed to them, everyone is left red-faced). Whichever of them loses, Pettis isn't defending the belt until December and will probably get injured again straight after, so there is plenty of time for either of them to bounce back.

As an aside: UFC 178 is looking amazing again now with this and the flyweight fight. Cruz bumped down to the prelims though! :quote:

Pettis is great but all he seems to do is promo work. Official cover star of wheatties. Then injured by a passing duck and out for another 4 months. I think it should be 1 year out Max then stripped of title. Cain is the same, one defence per year. Strip him, he's blocking the division.

They take it so seriously over there too, like being on the Wheatties box is like he's been knighted. Its our equivalent of some form of Bran Flakes? The seriousness of their sponsorship deals astounds me, ive been watching since around 2007, and still find the adverts beyond hysterical and shameless. I thought they knew they were being cheesy, but nope...the fighters are so deeply pround of their association with fucking corn nuts (corn to the core...CRUNCHHH), or the horrific recent countdown show basically showing Matt Brown driving around on a Harley for 5 minutes set to music.Hell, even TUF 2 used to have moments in the house bathroom with no words, just Rashad Evans I think it was, putting on some Axe deodorant, then placing it down infront of a camera. I love the UFC but all this has me in stitches every time, its so brazen.

It probably is a big deal for the UFC getting an athlete on the cereal box - going mainstream, attracting the serious marketing budget of Fortune 500 companies. Similar to Jones getting sponsored by Nike, getting on Fox etc. I don't know about Wheaties but I think they always use top level athletes like Michael Phelps, quite a prestigious thing in US sports apparently.

I notice that even local fighters over here are just blatant with their sponsorships, tweeting and posting on facebook about them every other day. I suppose fighters can't "sell out", they are there to make as much money as quickly as possible whilst taking as little damage to their brains as they can manage. I can understand the shilling, probably means I probably won't bother to follow Pettis on twitter mind you.

Speaking of local fighters - anyone watch Cage Warriors from this weekend? I really like CW, they punch above their weight imo. They recently signed a TV deal with C4 so the main card/highlights from the weekend are on 4OD: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/cage-warriors/4od

Interesting about CW too - they've recently introduced an incentive scheme for fighters. So if someone finishes with a twister/slam KO/heel hook etc., they'll get an extra 2k - I know it's small money by UFC standards but guys get paid sod all outside of the UFC/WSOP/Bellator: http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Cage-Warriors-Implements-362000-Bounty-Bonus-System-for-Spectacular-Finishes-71979

No worries, man :)

As fro Cage Warriors, it was pretty good the one i taped the other night and it appears to be regular to, more MMA is only good news.

I hope Bisping wins on saturday, he'll surely have speed and reach advantages over Le, but he's gotta watch for some bizarre flying kick or a brain crushing punch like he landed on Franklin.

Also regarding the product placement, yeah its stupid and annjoying, but for me, i cant help but find it funny with it being so obvious and brazen like you say Angel. The Wheaties box thing (mini-shredded wheats i think it is) really is a big deal, normally for Olympians or tier 1 NFLers etc so for Pettis to be on is pretty huge.

Bisping did look excellent, but you just know he's always going to fall short at that eliminator or title shot level.

His post fight interview style reminded me of when Louis Theroux did wrestling training and was being taught how to do video promos

Agree Bisping was excellent, really happy with that. Le, looked very different from his last fight, not chubby and very muscular and "vascular" ("if theres one things ladies like its a vascular man") i suppose a lot of training could lead to a such a change in physique but whatever he got battered so all ends well. Nice KO by Woodley to.

Also some good action on the Henderson v Dos Anjos card to not kleast in the main fight, the stoppage was a bit early to me, though Henderson was 90% done but just needed a couple more punches to make sure.

Haven't checked that card.

Thought the Woodley fight was kind of lucky.

I thought Le would be a beast in this fight. He's was easily the most impressive MMA fighter I saw when I was first getting into the sport, was a shame to see him get punched up so easily.

The Oklahoma card was really good. No duds on it at all. I do think the stoppage was premature. I'm not saying the outcome would have changed but it needed to play out a bit more.

The first two fights on the Macau card where tedious beyond belief. Bisping was really good though, Le was a mess.

Not many good fights on the horizon until the end of the year really. Far, far too many injuries occurring. Everyone seems to have the tito bug. What happened to fighting with a few minor injuries ala liddell, weidman, shogun, Couture, and so on. Seems fighters are getting minor injuries then you never see them for like a year - Look at Gus vs Jones.

I did notice also while looking Belfort has until December to put some muscle back on. Seems enough time to me.

Pettis vs Melendez is in December.

There are a lot of good fights booked in my opinion, just sod all for championships due to injuries and TUF stinking the place up. Jacare/Mousasi, Hunt/Roy Nelson, MacDonald/Saffiedine are all excellent headliners just within the next month or so, Gunnar Nelson/Rick Story should be good too. And that's without mentioning UFC 178 which has a good chance of being event of the year in my opinion.
