Cormier v Jones is actually, very very interesting/exciting, it owuld have been great to see a rematch against Gus, but thishas me really pumped for a potential changing of the Champ, i'm kinda sick of Jones, even if he is amazing at fighting.

I immediately thought Lombard but nowhere on the net does it say what the injury was that kept him out of the Kim fight so he could be a while. Welterweight is so hectic at the moment, Diaz hasn't picked a great time to come back if he thinks he's going to get a title shot any time soon.

Is Diaz actually top level as a fighter, or just good at selling tickets and generating hype ?

Genuine question as been watching every UFC event since 2006 and actually don't have real recollection of him as a fighter, which in itself is a bit telling

His last great win (from memory) was over a declining BJ Penn but that was a boxing masterclass (edit: I looked it up, this was 2011).

After that he lost via decision to Carlos Condit (who had a very frustrating gameplan) and a decision to GSP who did stand with him but also took him down for a decision win.

He certainly used to be top class, hope he still is but it sounds like he's just interested in the money matches. I'd like to see him fight Robbie Lawler or Matt Brown - potentially great brawls.

He was definetly the real deal when he was young, but kinda got lost in amongst all his bullshit and not doing media commitments etc, his attitude is his biggest asset but also one of his big problems to. Stockton motherfucker!

I know UFC didn't arrive fully formed in terms of unified rules and was a bit of a freakshow to start with, but it always had the purity behind it which answered two questions that are hundreds of years old old 1) who would win a fight between ..... & 2) what is the better fighting style, X or Y

Nobody really gives a toss about who has the best fighting team, Poznan or Gothenberg, so as such seems a bit of a daft idea to me. Its also seems a bit weighted in terms of whichever team loses a man first has a major problem.

Yeah, Rumble was superb, that uppercut he landed on Nog, was almost comical th eamount of lift he put on his chin/head with it, that must have hurt.

Cant wait for Lawlor v Hendricks II, I hope Lawlor wins, i just cant warm to Johnny, for some reason and he was a bit lucky to win first time and Robbie is a better all round fighter i reckon, so heres hoping.

Oh man, thats madness, SIlva vs Diaz, I cant wait. Oh man, the second half of 2014 could be even better than the first half.

On a disappointing note though, Diesel Riggs, who was pretty cool, i thought, back in the midst of early 2000s, was due a UFC comeback but decided to shoot himself in the arm and foot instead while cleaning his personal weapon, nice one Joe.

Great to see Bermudez smash Guida, who I absolutely cannot stand. Throughout the broadcast (and the countdown show), he was constantly referred to as a fan favourite exciting fighter. All I ever see in his fights, read about him, and completely agree with, is that he runs away and hides his lack of activity with his dancing about and flailing hair. That Maynard fight last year sealed it, he was dreadful and he's a total punk, offering Bermudez almost no respect ("hes a tough little dude but no"). Yet within 3 minutes, takedowns exhausted, he was all out of options. Well deserved comeuppance and hopefully cut soon.

AS will make mincemeat of Diaz, its not even a contest. Nicks pitty patty strikes vs the GOAT? AS will give him a round of clowning/timing him then decapitate him. Dana knows this, hes happy to make a few last pay days from Nick's trash talk, and thats fine with me.

Oh god please make it so Jones loses to DC. If he cant do it, i cant imagine who will. Utterly sick of eye pokey knee side kicking classless jones. Come on DC ragdoll him all over.

Same. I can take all the crap smack talk but the CONSTANT eye poking is too much. He did it to Gus and Machida when they were both lighting him up and an absolute fuck ton to Rampage - it wasn't even disguised it was completely blatant.

He'd have probably beat Rampage and Machida anyway but in the gus fight (a fight he lost too) it just added insult to injury. Fuck that guy.

Sadly I think Jones will win, and then they'll hug it out after. I dont buy into grudge matches any more, its just standard hype, theyre just having to raise it early with the 2 months short notice. Id love DC to smash him though.

know I'm in the minority but I really love Jones as a fighter and hope he sticks it to Cormier, he brings so much invention and is such an evolution from the origins of MMA that I forgive him his finger pokey transgressions (and general being a bit of an arse, like dropping a choked out Machida)

really tough fight to call though which makes it a possible classic in waiting.

If DC cant get him down though, its over. Iv a bad feeling it might be a one sided beatdown. I hope to god im wrong. One positive for Jones is at least hes embracing the fact that hes a dick, and not even hiding it. Its not like people dont know any more.

I dunno, I feel like there's a genuine mutual hatred (well, dislike at the very least). They were sniping at each other on twitter etc long before this title fight was mooted (even when DC was a heavyweight) and I don't recall the last time I saw actual punches thrown at a press conference. Of course, there is still the major possibility that the match itself will be a damp squib but the one thing you can say for Jones is that his fights have been exciting more often (Gus, Machida, Belfort, Sonnen, Shogun) than not (Rashad, Rampage, Glover).
