I like Rousey but she would get brutally KO'd if she tried standing and trading with Cyborg like she did with Tate and McMann. Both of them were landing stuff on her which against Cyborg would have had her staring up at the lights pretty quick.

God knows if that fight will ever happen though. Cyborg is making some noise about finally going to 135 which is a positive.

Problem for UFC is she could do what she did to Carano. Just smash the companies pretty golden girl in a brutal beat down and retire her to Hollywood. And she is a drug cheat as well. Would be a money fight though.

Two of the most active stand-up lightweights, one with the most violent top game in the division, and one with the most aggressive bottom game? What's not to like?

Interesting that Lorenzo or Dana obviously caved a bit. I wonder if they'd have done it if it wasn't Bellator's most 'stacked' division already? I suppose then they could build up a (spurious) argument that they had 3 of the top 5 at 155.

I guess I'm not a massive fan of TUF at the best of times but I dislike it even more when it interferes with title fights. It'll be bloody ages before we see them fight again (I know Pettis is injured at the mo anyway, but y'know).

I'm not a TUF fan either, but Gilbert is probably the most deserving, and exciting, contender for Pettis right now. In the minds of some, Pettis is still the guy that lost to Clay Guida, and taking on Josh Thomson would have been awesome, but wouldn't have done anything to establish him. If he beats Henderson AND Melendez, I think we have the most clear cut #1 Lightweight in the world in the last 5 years.

Speaking of which - why is there no date for Penn/Edgar at 145 yet?

The Nevada commission has banned TRT use. Other athletic commissions expected to follow suit.

This all blew up yesterday. Today Vitor has pulled out of his title fight with Weidman. No reason given, althougth its pretty obvious why. Machida to step in and take his place.

Ouch. Would have thought Belfort would still have gone for the fight, surely 3 months is long enough to get clean and train his arse off? I actually read a good article on the subject only a few days ago:

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/10500652/therapeutic-use-exemptions-testosterone-mma-outpace-other-sports-lines-finds

Pretty interesting that there haven't been any applications whatsoever in boxing for TRT use. Also, it's surprising that Vitor's the only fighter where a noticable performance increase has occurred (possibly excluding Hendo) - I had no idea Rampage and Mir also had exemptions, it did fuck all for them.

Hendo got a lot more power after starting. Another one that improved fairly dramatically is Chael Sonnen. There are a couple of others but I can't remember the names off the top of my head.

The timing of the pull out was hilarious though. Could be interesting if differing comissions treat TRT differently, especially internationally where the UFC run the testing programs.

Absolutely stunning finish to the Hathaway vs Dong Hyun Kim fight. Probably KO of the year.

Fun little card tbh. Makes up for the somewhat boring UFC main cards lately.

Brutal KO. Don't like seeing the young English guys taking a pasting but that was a big ask for Hathaway after so long out.

Actually really hyped for Manuwa/Gus at the weekend. Gonna be interesting no matter what way it goes.

At least they've done something, it was getting pretty ridiculous, it was basically open cheating.

Awesome KO by Kim at the weekend.

UFC 173 is headlined by JDS vs Miocic. I can't see anything other than Miocic being utterly outclassed, but I suspect that the list of people wanting to fight JDS isn't that long.

Maybe, at least, Miocic's stamina and movement can give him a chance. He's no headliner though - nobody cares about him.

Wow, Machida has a chance to join the 2 weight champ club, that'd be pretty mad if he won. I dont think Weidman is or will be the demi-God Silva became so i think Machida if he can avoid Weidmans power punches and his adamantium legs, he's got a good shot with his fighting style, plus he has a knack for making wrestler-striker types look incredibly slow and prehistoric.

On his day, quite literally, nobody in the company can touch Machida. I'd probably personally rate him higher than Weidman right now. He's just lost a little lustre from two horrendous decisions (Rampage and Davis), but he's top 3 in any division he cares to grace.

It'll be a shame if this fiasco is the end of Vitor, since he has the chance to (kinda) become the only 3 division champion in UFC history. Unless BJ miraculously goes on a tear at 145.

I remember the rise of Machida when he first got the title and looked invincible - the lustre has gone somewhat since then with many lack lustre performances, he's almost become Chris Eubank like in that you know he's awesome but never puts in maximum effort or goes for the KO, trying to eek out close points wins - which with dodgy MMA scoring isn't happening.

If he can return to his earlier form though I agree he's potentially amazing.

How the hell has Jimmy Manuwa got a fight with Gustaffson, or are they just giving Gus an easy night before a rematch with Jones ?

Like you say, easy fight and no matter what people say about Jimmy having a punchers chance, superior footwork, wrestling will put a stop to that. Can't wait to get along to the arena, been an amazing few days down here.

Yeah I thought it was good. I don't think JImi disgraced himself at all - his wrestling held up, he just got caught by a knee and it was all downhill from there. Disagree about it just being an easy fight, Manuwa needed a step up in competition and Gus had to fight someone before getting another shot at Jones, and with a lack of available contenders it made sense to go with this. Manuwa win = instant new contender, Gus win = ready made match after Jones/Glover. Lest we forget this match was originally supposed to be Gus vs Lil Nog - despite his last two wins that's not exactly what you'd class as a title eliminator.

Pleasantly surprised with Dan Hardy on commentary too!

Yeah, Dan Hardy did a good job. Not sure about Bruce Buffer's stand-in though.

Neil Seeey gave a good showing for himself, standing in against Pickett at short notice is no joke. Gunnar Nelson looked spectacular - dat jits. Holy shit.

Agree with all that, the C5 coverage was good, way better than James Haskell asking ridiculous bloody questions to "celebrities" on BT

("Hi <insert name> why are you here at the UFC?"

Just give us the US coverage next time please.

I actually watched it on fight pass with the free trial so effectively got the US coverage. Was pretty good - added bonus of checking out older UFC/Pride/Strikeforce on the service too - might even keep it going for a while.

Did anyone see the hilarious 50/50 hammerfist exchange in the match with the Cheesecake Assassin? This needs sound
