I thought he won all those fights, except the Pettis fight.

Pettis knew how to deal with him, come forward, kick the shit out of him and then crack his arm. I didn't see any controversy with the Thompson fight, pretty clear cut. Thompson probably would have won if he didn't break his hand.

Yeah I agree. I don't think it's possible to be lucky for that many fights. Too many people are quick to shout 'robbery' after a close decision, realistically the only high-profile proper judging fuckup recently that I can think of has been Hendricks/GSP.

Anyway, I was well shit on the picks on Saturday. I was a bit drunk and missed the first two fights as the prelims had already started. Oh well. So going forward, shall we just pick everything or just the mains or whatever? Also, looking at the dates in the next couple of months, 2 events headlined by British fighters (I knew about Manuwa but not Hathaway)! And they aren't Hardy or Bisping! Heady times indeed.

Just give him the link and he can join the pool.

Did we come to a consensus on whether we were picking all fights or not? I kinda want to pick all fights, that's how the game is set up but I'll bow to the group.

Anyway, psyched for the next event. #TeamFaber :)

I dont pick all the fights, its just a bit of fun, but as Kingpin says i'll go with the the majority decision. ALso the go with 'Pin,i want Faber (and his buttchin) to win, I think he'll be much better prepared for Barao this time round, i've put it for points in the pick 'em, I cant really see him KO/Subbing Barao but could outwork him over the 5 rounds. I think Aldo and Overeem will win (both 2nd round KO). Jamie Varner will also win and hopefully Kong Watson to.

A lot of cards the next couple of months with some ver exciting fights, the Hendricks/Lawlor event is totally stacked.

not as good a card as I hoped for - but the opener on the main card was a great tear up

Aldo bores me to tears, I can see how technical he is but these little 'uns never hold my interest

Awful stoppage too in main event, and Reem was disappointing restrained.

Too many fighters looking for points wins now the riches are there in the sport, think the whole card set the record last night for most decisions.

I thought it was alright. To be honest I enjoyed the Reem/Mir fight, unfortunately with the state of UFC at the moment you're lucky to last 3 consecutive losses without getting cut so you can understand Overeem not wanting to gas himself out again. Having said that, 30-27 x 3 makes for pretty dominant reading and he beat the shit out of Frank so I'm not sure if he could have done too much more.

I guess the stoppage in the main was a bit disappointing but I think Barao would have finished him sooner rather than later, he really is a class above.

Found Aldo's fight last night pretty boring - he was pretty measured after that first round but I think that was out of respect - other fella made a good effort in the last round. Evidently quite dangerous, wouldn't have minded one of those wheel kicks catching Aldo; despite favouring him.

Feel bad for Mir, but overroid looked great.

Barao, well, nuff said. As expected - wish Id put a hundred down on him.

Didn't watch prelims or earlier fights.

Not a bad event, give it a 7/10

After all that everyone did picks for the whole card anyway?

I watched the main card, and I thought they were mostly good, thoughtful affairs. Overeem's fighting with a smarter head on his shoulders, but Frank's been a sacrificial lamb for a long time, and it doesn't prove anything. I fear that they'll give him Barnett next, which is a shame as I'd like to see both hang around in the organisation for as long as possible.

Reem's K-1 pedigree is really questionable though. When he doesn't have the big gloves to hide behind, he's really not great at defense, and as such is a potential victim to anyone in the heavy-handed division, where a single shot changes everything.

Thought the main event was an early stoppage too, but I don't believe that the fight would've ended differently with extra time.

Yeah thought it was early, though it looked like Faber was done it would have nice to see a conclusion.

Not one judge gave the first round 10/8 to reem. I’d like to see Reem get one more against maybe Gonzaga. Reem lucked his way to that K1 title and it was blown way out of proportion.

Rumble’s back against Davis, should be good.

I'd like to see Reem reinvent himself a bit here. Travis Browne may be hyped as the new breed, but I definitely think that Reem could get two more wins under his belt and wreck him.

That's the only problem with Reem: On any day he can probably beat anyone (even Cain, with a puncher's chance), but on any day he can lose to anyone too.

Looks like Anthony Johnson's back with the UFC - he's got Phil Davis in his return. That's a really tough fight for his first 205 foray in the UFC. I suppose Dana's giving him a sink or swim scenario. He's an exciting fighter, who has shown willingness to move right up to HW, so hopefully weight issues are a thing of the past.

Hard to believe that it's been 2 years since his only 185 jaunt against Vitor sent him packing. And he weighed in at about 197lb.

Overeem vs JDS would be great fun, and probabably end up with Alistair staring at the ceiling. There aren't many fights in the heavyweight division that are guaranteed FOTN, but I'd say that's one. Maybe give him Nelson to warm his hands up for a while? He'd basically be a training dummy, and if Reem's knee (probably the hardest shot in MMA) put Nelson down, he'd be a legend, ready-built for JDS.

Rashad is injured! So there's no 205 debut for DC this weekend - BOO.

Also, Gil Melendez's contract talks are going badly. Would be awful if he got sent out into the wilderness because of bad negotiations. He was making tons from his transferred SF contract, and it would probably be cut in half to be commensurate with other top 5 LWs. He might be the best 155er in the world, but we also might not get a proper chance to find out.

Daniel Cormier is fighting... Patrick Cummings at 205. He's new to the company, but that's about all I know.

This is a weird co-main right up there with Mousasi/Latifi, Saffiedine/Lim, and Barnett/Guelmino.

DC's had Mir (irrelevant), Nelson (beaten soundly by Mir), and now Cummings. If he doesn't get a relevant fight soon, he'll lose all of his momentum.

meh, maybe the purists will argue otherwise but that was possibly the dullest UFC card I can recall - only thing that will linger in the memory is Silva's jumping heel kick thing when that guy had a single

Machida does look ripped and very quick at middleweight though

Nah, i love a good ground game or technical match, and even i was bored to tears by that card. Every fight except Erick Silva was a case of "watch the non-brazillian guy try and get out of a rear naked for 15 minutes". Pretty much any other forum i visit everyone is taking a dump on that card. It was mind numbing stuff, and the crowd were like a fucking ghost town

The middleweight division is starting to look very exciting. So much so that I think that Bisping has missed his chance - I wouldn't rank him top 5 anymore. He's going to need to WRECK Kennedy to be in for a title shot, and that's not really his M.O.

Machida did outclass Mousasi, but I'd wager that Mousasi will impress in his next fight - he just overreached for his 2nd UFC fight, should've taken someone lower down the food chain to warm up.

With Weidman, Jacare, Mecha-Belfort, Machida, Mousasi, and Rockhold, 185 will probably be my most watched division over the next year.

Cummings is another wrestler with NCAA champion status behind him. Won a few fights in regional promotions and had his last few opponents pull out late as they didn't want to fight him. He will stick around in the UFC, could even do really well in a couple of years. Right now he is a bit too new to MMA and will probably get wrecked by Cormier. With a proper introduction to the UFC, steadily increasing the difficulty of his opponents he could be great, coming in as a late replacement against a title contender isn't the way to help your development.

not a great card, Cummings look over matched and the main event was probably stopped a bit early, but didn't see anything to make me think Rousey was going to be stretched that much

after what I think were a string of stinkers good to see McDonald finally in a good fight, Joe Rogan always going on about how good he is and never seen much evidence of it, until last night

McDonald was like a man possesed. I want to see more of that.

I thought DC v Cummings was going to at least reach the second round. Come on Daniel, people pay for this!

Rousey was stopped early. But maybe it doesn't matter so much, she was clearly going to crush Sara McMann one way or another. No one is on her level in any aspect.
