Gotta be fake. The Riddler is all but a joke villain anyway...

(please be fake!)

The Riddler has potential if handled correctly and with a decent actor. Would prefer to see him as opposed to The Penguin.

I still think it was a fucking waste to kill two face.

I think the Joker would be hard to beat. For his personality and character as opposed to Heath Ledger voicing him. But then Nolan did a good job at making the characters a little more realistic so god knows what he'd do with The Riddler or anyone else.

There was a rumour that Johnny Depp would be playing him as some sort of cyber terrorist. Which could work, I guess. Then I just read that David Tennant had expressed interest in the role. :P

can you imagine how great a proper 3rd batman heath/joker movie would have been. that was what nolan had in mind, and what he was planning toward.

Yeah. I especially liked the bit at the end where he says something like, "I think you and I are destined to do this forever".

Naaaaah, the Riddler is shit and you know it. :P

The best use of him was in Hush, where it was a semi-joke that he could've

planned everything out since everyone knows that he's not actually all that clever

.

Then again, the character can only be as smart as the person writing him, so I guess there is a possibility someone could do him well.

I always thought the Penguin was over rated and a bit dull, while the Riddler doesn't seem a big enough threat after The Joker.

As I've said in previous threads The Riddler can be every bit a threat as The Joker was but they need to make sure it is a personal threat rather than a societal one. Hush related:

now the comic itself may not be much cop but the idea that the villain knows the identity of Batman is rife with possibility. The character of The Riddler is also more likely to play around with him more rather than just immediately go in for the kill.

The Riddler can be brilliant, he's just not been served well by writers. Zodiac showed that an enigmatic riddle that you have to solve in a set amount of time (or not) can be gripping.

Personally I can't think of a Batman villain that has his kudos. Catwoman maybe, Zasz... No, not really... Croc and Mad Hatter no, Ventriloquist... Would be cool but no. What I don't want is for him to be so hamstrung by reality and vogueish memes that we get Die Hard 4 all over again.

Personally I think B3 should be an Arkham escape movie. Batman caught, sent to Arkham, mass escape, he deals with the mini-bad guys before squaring off against whoever put it all in place.

Well if they are still interested in making The Green Arrow's Super Max I doubt they'll go down this route as it would effectively kill off that film altogether.

Ideally some kind of Joker-on-steroids. They could do it with CGI.

The Riddler could be good as the main villain if done as a Se7en style serial nutter leaving clues for the cops.

The Riddler is rubbish, there's no way he could ever be a credible threat. Also, Heath Ledger? That guy out of a A Knight's Tale and Brokeback Mountain? There's no way that guy could ever be a credible Joker, uh-uh.

Do you see? The Riddler can be whatever the talent working on him want him to be. Hell, Frank Gorshin did a fantastic job or making him crazy, sinister and poignant and that was in a light-hearted 60s campfest. Have faith. That said, I'd prefer they didn't go down the John Doe serial killer route many are suggesting, it's not really him, he's typically low on violence, high on the mindfuckery.

I still think the premise should be that Gotham has turned its back on the Batman. Now that the gangs have the backing to kill Batman we could see all kinds of villians stepping up to take out the Batman, someone like Deadshot could be great in a city setting. Personally, I think it needs the Joker and more Arkham, perhaps Harley Quinn falling for the Joker and bustin him out. If this is the last Batman film then it is going to need it's main protaginist against its main antagonist

I'm a big Harley Quinn mark, mainly 'cause she's got a lot of as-yet unrealized potential in the Batman universe. If one was to "Dark-Knightify" Harley she could be a lot more sinister and disturbing than the Joker simply because she's more tragic and, in some ways, more twisted.

She's also far less brokeback...

He is considered one of the best young actors in hollywood but it would be a hard act to follow, but he has the look.

I've never heard of him. No point bringing someone else in to do the Joker, they'd just be doing some weak impression of Ledger if they did.

Zsaz would fit in with the "gritty" Gotham as he's just a straight-up serial killer, but he's not very exciting.

Zsaz was in begins during the arkham asylum bit and was played by the lead singer of james, i like the idea of the riddler as a zodiac style killer.

I might be a bit off with this but I'd rather not see Catwoman because then the film doesn't become about her but about who is playing her. I know The Dark Knight was a bit like that with Ledger but it seems to increase tenfold when a female character is involved in that capacity.
