And Vivid have released the trailer for their porn parody - its SFW but I had the sound down so not sure if there's bad language/suggestive language etc. Can't embed I don't think because the video isn't listed on Youtube, you can only find it with this link. (which came from AICN)

Got Empire today, big feature on this and the whole saga, plus a nice Batman poster.

Edit: Well that was 22 pages of pure awesome. Super hyped now, I'd recommend anyone even remotely interested pick up this month's issue.

So those of us wanting BFI IMAX tickets. Get ready as the site will probably crash on monday morning. Most people will rush for the earliest screenings hopefully leaving saturday evening free so I can get my favorite seat.

We are excited to announce that on Monday 11 June at 00:01 (Sunday midnight/Monday morning), tickets for The Dark Knight Rises – The IMAX Experience will be going on sale at BFI IMAX. We will be the only cinema in London showing The Dark Knight Rises in a 15/70mm IMAX DMR film print. The film will feature about 55 minutes of footage shot on IMAX cameras, filling the entire BFI IMAX screen.

I've watched it 3 times now and I'm still not sure what to make of The Dark Knight. Its a big sprawling mess of a film, but it still works on many levels. BB is my favourite superhero movie (along with Superman) so I had high hopes for TDK. But I think that TDK is a good movie, just not a good Batman movie. Its a great Joker movie of course with that legendary Ledger performance, but Bale is just boring here after being brilliant in BB. The end with the boats and the rushed plot with Two Face is a mess and seems to be fitting two movies into one.

So, I'm not sure what to make of the new film. I've been reading Knightfall and the character of Bane in the comic bears little resemblance to what Hardy appears to have made of him. Still, nice to see that Modine is still getting work. I've avoided everything except the cinema trailer (same with Prometheus) and just hope it can live up to the brilliance of Batman Begins.

I think you're wrong, if anything its a very good resemblance of Bane. Since Knightfall people forget is his great intellect and that he's a great tactician.

Ever since after Knightfall he's been this big hulk just smash and one note character which he isn't. Only Gail Simone's Secret Six comes close to what Bane is and why he's a great rogue.

Cmon he figured and knew who Batman was by using his Genius. He's a mastermind like Batman.

Ok, we have to apply comic book logic to suspend disbelief, but let's not go crazy.

Bane is considered and meant to be written as a tactican genius like Batman is and hence in Knightfall the dismantling of Batman where no other villain came close. No one except for Hugo Strange ( doubts it later on) and Ra Al Ghul know Batman is Bruce Wayne, we have Riddler who is consider a genius in the Rogue Gallery having no clue when trying to extract the information.

A man dresses up like a bat to fight crime. There IS no other logic. Knightfall was amazing for it's time, all built around Bane "breaking the bat".

Like a lot of people in here, I've read lots of comics, and I'd say comic book logic is where each writer thinks of a way to test the situation the hero is in and find a way out of it, then that becomes lore. Therefore Writer 1 decides, say, to test the efficacy of the hologram that hides the front of the bat cave. Writer 1 decides it's a crap idea where anyone following Batman could see through the ruse. So he invents a piece of tech that Bruce implements which, say, simultaneously scrambles the pursuing car's satnav whilst also projecting a holographic route to the driver that leads down a dirt path and back towards Gotham. Crude writing, but effective.

When someone down the line challenges the old 'hologram in front of the batcave' ruse, fanboy says, "Ah, but I refer you to Detective Comics #235 where Bruce created a blah blah blah and so-on and so-forth". The construction of these little distractors is in-built and a part of comics canon, so when Writer 7,958 creates a character like Bane, the character also has to out-think all the ruses created by writer 1 onwards - not just the batcave ruse, but the one about how his flying devices can't be tracked by heat signature, or how his bat bike can't be located by testing the rubber it leaves behind to see where it was imported from, or again blah blah blah and so-on and so-forth. This makes the new character - who deconstructs this lore - intelligent.

The movies have a much more simple construction, history and lore and rely far more on good ol' suspension of disbelief. Therefore the need for 'Movie-Bane' to be a genius-level intellect to figure out Batman's identity stretches things a bit too far. The far more effective stance to take is the one The Joker takes in TDK: I don't care who he is under the mask; it doesn't matter. I just want to beat him. Because if you turn the audience's gaze towards the concept of how impossible it would be for a superhero to hide his identity in the pseudo real-world of Nolan's Batman, the whole thing starts to come apart.

Bane knowing Batman's identity isn't the big factor I mean it to be. It just shows the level of intellect he has, even if he doesn't know in the movie it should show Bane as a sound tactician on the level of Batman. He is in essence the mirror of Batman if he wasn't good.

Bruce Wayne being Batman is generally seen to be akin to there being an amazing female vigilante in London who's revealed to be Peaches fucking Geldof or something.

It's actually worse than the last one, at least the other had this really unique tone to it. This is just generic trailer twaddle and really only about 20% new material, which is a good thing. Was worried they were going to show too much.

I thought that the basic implied excuse they went with in the nolan movies was that wayne portrayed himself to be a drunken shambolic dickhead in public or something like that who could never be batman, which paid enough service to his secret identity thing to somewhat paper it over, in plot terms. That and the fact that batman is a well enough known character that everyone in the audience just unquestioningly accepts that he is bruce wayne and nobody knows who he is and that's that, so you don't really need to address it as such. It's not really something I've thought about much as regards the nolan movies, because, y'know, it's batman.
