I've just been playing this for a few hours and I've got an exciting new technique for Pacifism. I'm inviting you all to try it because the more the merrier.

You need some kind of USB device - a thumb drive, a mouse or keyboard, the Vision camera, anything the 360 will recognise. What you do is start Pacifism and then pause it straight away. Now take the USB device and plug it into the 360, then pull it straight out again and keep repeating that process as fast as you can,

My theory is if enough people do that, sooner or later someone's 360 is going to crash. Then we report it as a bug, the game gets patched, all the leaderboards are reset and the spawny fuckers above me on my friends list find it impossible to regain their former positions.

If you don't have a USB device handy just mash all the controller buttons as you play. Doesn't work for me but at the very least it'll distract you from the gameplay and keep your score low.

I scored a 12m on deadline tonight. Not trying to be better then anyone else here. But i did.

Just got about 200 points under 13 million. Died in the last 5 seconds, spent a second yelling at the screen for something to spawn so I could shoot the fucker.

My chest feels like it's going to explode, so time to call it a day I think!

I did a bit of 'research' on the multiple gate issue on Pacifism. Once the points start flying it's impossible to keep track of what's scoring what, but if you avoid killing enemies at the start and just aim for gates, it's interesting.

If you fly through the first two gates that appear (and don't kill any enemies) but leave a gap between them, you score 200 - 50 for the first gate (2*25 for each gate end) and 150 for the second gate (2*75 because the first two gate ends added raised your multiplier to 3x).

If you hit the first two gates in a combo, you score 650 - 50 for the first and 600 for the second, or four times as much. But your multiplier isn't affected - it'll be at 5x whichever whether you get them in a combo or not. So it looks like you get a 4x score combo for getting two gates together.

Unfortunately I've no idea whether that increases exponentially for three or more gates, because as I said by the time that happens you're invariably killing a bunch of enemies at the same time. But even if it stays at 4x, which I doubt, it's obviously well worth it by the time your multiplier is cranked up.

You get an increase in gate scoring if you consecutively hit them (to a limit of 5 i think).

Its to be said i (albeit anally) find scoring technqiues very intresting. Its like a hidden depth. Sadly once uncovered, many games become quite dull to me because someone, usually from Japan, has exploited them to such a degree that its crazy.

But Sequence has some lovely scoring techniques. I've just learned a new one which will obliterate many scores so such a degree, that you indeed think i'm from Japan.

One other little hint - smart bombs are worthless. They are not meant to be used to hoard geoms.

They should protect you, but the real high scores are not done with smart bombs. Sorry Kerraig - i am going to prove this. One day.

That game of yours is a fantastic score, but the smart bombs probably only delayed you - there is another technique that people don't seem to be exploiting AFAIK/ I'm not going to tell you what it is, but i'll tell you that its a technique thats exploited in another game mode.

You can discuss what it is - i'm talking the kids to the park.

Haha. No i don't, but i do have a good understanding of scoring.

Its clear from the scores here that my aiming is worse then many of you and my technique needs refinement at times.

Lets just say i know what i could potentially score. In Sequence theres three waves that i die on that have huge scoring potential. The problem is you have to wait before they become apparent.

Hehe - Sequence is my nemesis, I still haven't managed to finish it! My aiming is definitely what lets me down, too - if I could aim through thought alone, I'm sure I'd be invincible on Waves :P Bumped my score on Pacifism and Waves by a nice amount, I'm done for now, left hand is aching

Holy shit holy shit holy shit. My GW2 skills have just levelled up. Jonster. That Waves score of yours is going to fall soon :P Afterbirth isn't going to be top of Pacifism much longer, either  And where did Stiff come from?! Bastard's all over my boards, suddenly.

Aaah I've never been this competitive on a hiscore game before! Loving it

Ok then I gave in. An hour in and rubbish scores so far but just saw all the love for Pacifism in a heart stopping 58.7m run - my previous best was 6! Amazingly intense, I had to stop myself looking at my score so I wouldn't mess up, not that I had time anyway. King was the other mode that grabbed me.

I can't recommend much - the snakes must be killed as quick as possible. The interesting thing here is its their shape AND the bases that hinder you, whilst with the smaller shapes the bases can assist you as they slow them down.

Its sad i can't devote enough time to this. I can't say theres many shmups that i've devoted much time to without being bored. Thats the great thing above live though - the highscore table is yours. I might be 279 in the world at sequence but i can be number one around my friends. And if i'm not i can delete them.

*I doubt i can the high scorers on Evolution though.

Managed 115m on sequence, theres basically a few key stages that you need to get right to boost your score, not sure where the extra 100m is coming from from the guy in 1st though...

I'd be interested to see how the leaders do waves as well, it seems like theres a few ways to work it.

Edit - 128m ;)

Nice score. I sent AKR Dimahoo a well done.

theres defo. a certain way to do the levels - the black holes must be left to group, and you HAVE to shoot an empty one if the others have absorbed AI.

I think on that level where 4 appear, followed by another 32 - you must hoar all 36 together to do the 5x effect on them all (and they blow each other away so i'm not sure if you can do all 36).

I think another key point people haven't sussed is sometimes you must wait until the entire level has spawned.

Its nice to see a UK devco take the time to think about how the levels work. I guess its fairly simple once you've worked out how the shapes work, esp. the holes and gates.

I wonder if the perfect score is possible on sequence to be honest.

Yeah, i'm just kidding. Theres to many variables with the geoms anyway, but as you point out, theres gates, and blackholes - they score more the more they've been farmed and you can 5x those with another hole.

I'd forgotten all about the geoms. This explains why high scores elude me. With the geoms I guess you'd have to follow a strict pattern of kill one enemy, collect geom, kill next enemy, collect geom... to maximise the score. This is no reason not to try it, but the rest of us look to the high scorers for such heroic undertakings.

Frustrating. Continuing the weekend's run of demise, Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes' untimely deaths have been followed by my Xbox's. I'm now reduced to playing Pacifism in my head for the next fortnight or so, and ringing up Microsoft to demand they update the Live Leaderboards with my mind-scores.

Hooray! I still have a chance of catching up!

BTW, anyone know of a way of inducing a red ring of death? I think my dvd drive's up the spout, but obviously, the 3 year warranty is only for RRoDs.

Shitting hell! I'm going to come in with the mantra I've read in here about 'not getting on with GW:RE' but finding this a real treat.

Been busy working my way from the bottom of the leaderboard on each of the modes, but had to literally tear myself from Pacifism mode just now to remind myself to eat.

Noticed that the next person up from me had 2million odd and never thought I'd get above that, but then BAM 10million.

I know that's still shit but I was pleased.

This is the perfect game to zone out to, and it feels really good leading those blue bastards a merry dance around the screen!

I finally folded last night and bought this. Used to love the original XBLA version of GW and have to say, this is even better.

the amount of times i've died because i can't resist darting out of safety for geoms is staggering. Enjoying 'waves' too but there's a real knack to it that needs to be worked on.

One other thing i was happy to see was a much more integrated friends score boards on the main menu, it really makes you play again if you're close to getting 1st place on your friend list.
