Infamous by Sucker Punch

The bit near the start where he jumps off the high building looks really nice and I like the glowy hands / thruster thing going on that lets him glide around. It's more the grimy / dirty look to it that turns me off more than anything else, Crackdown looked so fresh when it came out whereas this doesn't really have its own identity. Still, if it's fun, which it looks like it will be, it's not the end of the world.

I think that's the thing. Crackdown had it's own visual identity, and deliberately eschewed the grime worlds of GTA/Prototype/Infamous. It made it more comic book, if you will.

I'm bored of brown and grey.

I like brown and grey when it's done right (Gears), however this does look a bit generic. BUT, like I said earlier, if it's fun, then it's all good. On the plus side, the explosions look good and the scale seems impressive.

Looks like there is now a Demo floating around for this and according to GAF first impressions seems VERY promising :-

Ok, ill post my first impressions.

The intro is very well done. Lots of style, and it actually makes what would otherwise seem like a "whatever" story pretty interesting.

The control is by far the best of any sandbox game, ever. Period. Not up for debate. The only thing Id have to say as a complaint would be that he needs just a taaaaad bit more weight to him as far as jumping and running. Even though this is something that irritated the shit out of me, its not bad or irritating at all in here...just needs small bit of tweaking(not much at all).

Animation....wow...yeah, best ever in a sand box game, and some of the best this gen considering. His weight is really spot on in this regard, and it gives a much more "human" connection despite the fact that he is a super hero(villain, whatever).

Graphics...fuck what some are saying, this game looks great imo. Not only is the scale and detailing good, but more importantly, everything looks consistent. It doesnt seems like a jumbled mess of "great texture here, bad art there, stupid model yonder". Its all one cohesive package, and the end result is much better than most of the so called boundry pushers out there.

Yep, you heard right. Abstract alien is actually impressed with an open world game, and is excited about forking over the cash for this one. If you doubt this game...seriously, dont.

FUCKING SOLD...now I go back to playing more.

Yeah but GAF wank themselves into a frenzy at evey PS3 exclusive so I won't be using them as a definitive review quite yet.

Considering what?

Is he saying that it beats GTA's Euphoria engine?

I was only saying there was a demo out that people seamed to like.... :(

I thought it was the 360 that produced the most spunk from these people, and they generally shit on everything PS3. I don't remeber ever reading anything positive about the PS3 or any of its games over at GAF even if there ARE good ones.

But then on most forums everyones a 360 fanboy and everything on the PS3 is shit. That's why Microsoft released the machine earlier, they wanted a head-start on the forums, not just about sales you know. If it was the other way around no doubt it would be a different story.

I prefer not to have a head up my arse and prefer to own both consoles and choose for myself. The 360 is so hard to love though as the cunt keeps breaking

I still don't understand why people see Prototype as the more promising of these two games. I mean Infamous is made by goddamn Sucker Punch who have pretty good pedigree while Prototype is made by the people behind Crash of the Titans.

Most likely because Prototype isn't a PS3 exclusive, I'm guessing.

Hulk UD was made by Radical, and that was hot shit.

I'm presuming you must have pre-ordered the game and therefore received a demo code. It isn't up on the UK store :)

Nope, haven't preordered it yet. Got the code from a danish game site that's giving out codes until May 14th.

Wouldn't that require sharing PSN log-in details though?

Yes

Just remove any payment details on there and temporarily change the password for enough time for the other person to share then change it back.
