Halo 3: ODST

I've had far more trouble with the hunters in this than halo 3. In halo 3 I'd toy with them, running around them calling them names before taking them out. In this they feel much tougher. It might just be because the areas where you meet them are different but they seem tougher to me.

Yeah they do seem harder, but so does the combat in general.

I'm four levels in (Heroic) and think the challenge is bang on.

I did leg it past the first two Hunters the first time tho...

Got to the end of Mickey and can't find the will to play it any more - I've done this a thousand times before and I hope they do something fresh for Reach.

I've officially had my fill of Halo.

I must admit, I only played for an hour or two last night of the campaign but my overall feeling was "meh".

Maybe multiplayer will cheer me up

So is anyone actually stealthing past enemies in the overworld bits, or killing everyone?

yeah, i've backed away from a couple of fights - been using the map markers to check nearby enemies and try and sneak a look before they see me, decide what i want to do. really like the feeling of the enemies being on an equal/higher footing, as opposed to master chief who only starts to worry when there are like six brutes attacking at once.

i'm firmly in the "this game is awesome" camp, by the way. and also in the "what are you talking about, it took me ten hours" camp when it comes to discussion of game length (kind of funny that it's me who takes ages to finish it when i actually like a short game). will be seeing about some firefight very soon.

turn on your visor in the rookie sections and look for brighter yellow bits. phone booths, ticket machines, kiosks etc. there are also little visual clues in the form of neon advertising boards saying things like "keep left", etc.

I am finding the a-b sections of the rookie very tiresome now, regardless of the mongoose shortening the trip. No doubt I enjoy the setting and atmosphere, but seeing the same place over and over is getting to me. And it feels like filler.

I truly believe this game is based on an earlier idea of the firefight mode. Those battles are fantastic in game and I said before there are some great moments, but this should have just been a DL add on and not padded out as a so called full game. The large battle sections and firefight maps would be awesome in MP and hopefully they will be released as such.

As a singleplayer experience its the worst of the franchise

Yeah, I really like the open world hub. I love being able to scope out patrols from far away and plan your next move - assault or go around. I've done some excellent stealth assaults of encampments, taking out a couple of patrolling Brutes then quickly springing into loud mode when a Grunt wakes up and alerts the boss Brute. I was especially pleased with the time I took out the gold Brute stealthily first, chucking the rest of the squad into disarray making it easy to mop them up.

On Monday I found out this game existed (no really, I had no idea what Halo ODST was) and yesterday someone walked into my office and gave me a free copy. Got home, played it and didn't really know what was up. I thought it was fairly shit, frankly. It looks like an Xbox quality rip-off of Halo. Is this a mod or something? Like, a PC mod that has been ported? What is this game about? Why is my character a shit version of Master Chief? Why has this game even been released?

Just got my first 200k+ achievement on Firefight earlier. Was a good battle

Oh, and I've a 48hour code up for grabs if anyone wants it.

Edit: Code gone.

please tell me what settings you were using for this. The highest score I have got to is about 32k and the highest we got to last night was about 60K.

If you quit out of the campaign by accepting an invite (for Firefight for example) it will not save your progress. Always choose 'save and quit' and then accept an invite or quit to do the dashboard or turn of the console or whatever.

I've got a feeling I just lost 30 minutes of progress by not saving and quiting.
