Halo 3: ODST

The campaign isn't very special, it's just the familiar and competent Halo gameplay. The new features don't have a significant impact on it. I don't really know what I expected from New Mombasa, but the design is a bit bland imo. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great FPS, but be prepared for a lot of déjà vu moments.

Firefight is great though, with its emphasis on the combat dynamics and improvisation. Think of the encounters from the second level of Halo 1, situated on and around the bases with the marines holed up in them. The music kicking in when the fifth and last round starts is a very nice touch, reminding you that when you survive, your downed comrades, weapons and ammo will respawn to fight the next set of rounds. This will get played a lot.

Ah, that's the most informative post of the last few pages to be honest. Does the campaign have co-op too? I like "competent Halo gameplay" but the Mrs. wants in too. I understand Firefight is something new and exciting but she would like to play the story bit too :(

Me too. I don't even have a login account with Game!

I have one with Gameplay though. So I've got two codes: one from Gameplay on Friday, one from Game sent this morning.

But no copy of the game yet...

If you want to give one of the codes away, I'd be happy to take it off your hands.... I ordered from Lovefilm so won't be getting one myself.

EDIT: D'oh! Too slow!

Haven't played much of campaign but I have to say I think this is great. I like the story elements thus far too which is something in previous Halo games I have not cared a jot about. Like I say, that's after an hour of playing only campaign but at the moment this doesn't feel at all disappointing to me.

Feels like Halo2 if that makes sense to anyone.

Could I get your spare code please?

Sorry, my mate bagged the code even quicker than you.

I just read that on the Gameplay forums that Game have done this with loads of people (all perhaps) that ordered from Gameplay. So there are likely to be LOADS of spare codes flying about.

The game has four player online and two player splitscreen campaign co-op.

As others have said it won't be an issue initially, but I really don't fancy my chances of finding three amigos to play it with a month or so down the line.
A rllmukfire/rllmukodst gamertag could solve all the problems!

Is anyone going to set up a gamertag for this?

EDIT: I've created one - rllmukODST :(

Nice one. :(

I'll be on for a couple of hours now. If anyone fancies hitting up some Firefight feel free to add my gamertag: Lucky Gonk. In the interests of full disclosure I should point out I'm proper crap, and will be wearing metaphorical clown shoes for the entire duration.

The shop where I pre-ordered just texted me, I can come pick up my ODST CE (with pad) right now! :)

But I can't be arsed today, I just got home and the shop is like 15 minutes away. :(

I'll pick it up tomorrow and play some HD Remix instead :P

(this is a shop in Holland btw)

:(

Only 15 minutes away, you lazy git. Go get some fresh air and then enjoy the game today, as some of us are still waiting for our Ltd Edition ODST from GAME. :(
