Halo 3: ODST

Same with GTA, for some reason on VGA there's loads of shit-looking distance blur or anything more than about half a KM away, whereas in SD everything is crisp and defined from any distance.

Though since they added 1650x1080 or whatever it is as a VGA option it generally looks slightly better than it did before on my monitor, but still not as good as SD. Baffling.

One thing I noticed when playing Halo 3 recently is that it looks a lot better on an SD TV than it does in VGA. And I'm not doing an Okotta here, I've never thought that about any other game.

He's an HD bitch now.

Fucking U-turn of colossal proportions.

I demand all that time back, spent reading his retarded SD posts.

I went with Gameplay...I'm not gonna get it till tuesday am i?

I was playing Halo 3 last night and while I thought it looked pretty good in 1080p I did notice more jaggies on the weapons when playing it in 720p. Overall it didn't look so nice in 720p.

Maybe it's the same with ODST?

I'm playing in 1080p. It definitely seems cut-down for some reason compared to H3.

Is the awesome replay thingy from the last game in this?

Yes.

What I've played so far is pretty good (just done the first bit with the warthog). New Mombasa isn't the most interesting Halo playground ever, but I like the more stealthy gameplay and openness of the city. The cutscenes and the pompous dialogue aren't very good. They should bring back the far superior minimalistic approach that Halo 1 used. Going to play Firefight tonight, can't wait.

Are any of the levels like the 2nd level in Halo 2? You know the good one where you are on earth, moving between buildings?

My main gripe with Halo (other than the story and bland western character design) is that the locations tend to be so meh.

Halo 3 made this big thing about returning to earth, and the starting level in the jungle was really good. After that it didn't matter what planet or whatever it was on, it all looked the same. I was at least expecting to see something earth-like!

I played the first few levels earlier, was pretty impressed. The City is very dark and you really need your visor-mode to get through the buildings. I can't wait for a more extended play to see some more varied levels and also to give Firefight mode a try during the week

There are plenty of buildings to move around in... but it's just so 'done'. We've played it all a thousand times before. The ODST features do nothing at all except get in the fucking way.

It's an okay FPS - but it's by far the worst Halo.

anyone playing the campaign in co-op?

AYe breezed through it in a few hours and then spent a few more mopping up the audio logs. Really easy and not much of a challenge.

I'm going for a legendary run through tomorrow morning but i doubt it will take long as ive done quite a few missions on legendary solo already.

I was listening to the latest Listen UP podcast earlier today. They mentioned that they were allowed to reveal the day on which the ODST review embargo ends but not the exact time because, would you believe, that information is embargoed. Does anyone know why Microsoft would do this? Is it some moronic scheme to drum up excitement? Whatever the reason, it's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day.
